Just what *is* my screen name?

Postby mysngoeshere56 » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:15 pm

So I've been thinking... I've been around these parts since 2008, but I haven't been the most talkative user. I'm always a bit more careful than most people about posting information about myself online... Especially in more recent years.

But anyway, I feel like I've kind of been more reserved than I should be about myself on here. I also tend to disappear every now and again because I get busy doing other things. Very few people know me very well, as a result.

My way of resolution? A Sno Q&A section.

So, go ahead and ask me stuff. :)

1. So, anime, manga, or video games?
Favorites

Wow, this is a tough one. I adore all three of them. It all depends on what anime or manga you're talking about...

D.N.Angel is one case in which I absolutely adore both the anime and the manga. The manga has more story though, so as a whole I think I prefer the manga. Manga typically has less filler, so I say manga... but at the same time, sometimes filler stories are exciting.

D.N.Angel and Tsubasa Chronicle are my two favorites, as they're the ones that got me into anime/manga.

For shojo... Well, I typically like shonen better, but there is some really good shojo. Fruits Basket is probably my favorite shojo manga... Shojo anime would probably be Ouran High School Host Club as far as romantic stuff goes, and all other stuff goes to Shugo Chara! I still like Cardcaptor Sakura as far as magical girl goes, but I think Shugo Chara! would have to be my favorite now. Regardless, Sakura and Syaoran can't be replaced, which is why Tsubasa is still a #1.

For shonen... I started watching Bleach/Naruto/One Piece, but I don't have the time or attention span to catch up on them all... Bleach is the only one I like enough to continue watching. Also enjoy Kanon. Wolf's Rain and Darker Than Black would be two that I'm currently watching and enjoying.

For manga... I like most of the anime I watch in manga form too, but there are cases where one just doesn't compare to the other. I rather liked the Magic Knight Rayearth manga, but I just couldn't get into the anime for some reason.

Video games... I love 'em! Most people who know me in person would never guess that I am actually a semi-avid gamer.

My favorite types of video games are role playing simulation types of games, because I like to imagine that I actually *am* my character (in the case of a customizable character). If I can customize my character, I like to make the character my alter ego... I almost always role play my own gender and give the character a name I'd like to have. In cases where the protagonist isn't customizable, I imagine myself living vicariously through him/her. ;P

I typically enjoy a game most if I feel like I'm a character progressing through my own story. I like to have a reason for doing everything I do, and as such, RPG's are pretty much perfect for me.

There are actually 5 types of video games I consider my favorites. They are...

Star Wars - I've played several of them. The Knights of the Old Republic game would have to be my favorite game of all time. I always make my character based on myself and play on the light side. Lego Star Wars is a fun and feel-good game I pick up every now and then, too... Also enjoy Empire at War.

Lord of the Rings - I own Battle For Middle-Earth II and The Third Age RPG. I adored the cast of The Third Age, and am actually thinking of making a fanfic in which my own character joins them on a quest.

Tycoon Games - I've played Rollercoaster, Sea World, Zoo, School, and probably others I can't remember the name of... Zoo Tycoon has always been my favorite though. I've spent hours playing that for years, and it's perfect for people who are as into nature and animals as I am. I still have my old copies of the original.

Nancy Drew - The Nancy Drew games are super fun, and I enjoy picking them up whenever I'm in the mood to solve crimes and puzzles. I like that I feel like I'm moving through a story whenever I play them... I've played all of them at least once, except the remastered version of Secrets Can Kill (I figured I'd wait on that one since I've played the original already).

The Chronicles of Narnia - Hey, I just don't see how I *couldn't* love Narnia! :) Part of my childhood!

2. Parachuting or scuba-diving?

Scuba-Diving!!! I'm too afraid of heights to go parachuting, but I'd love to go scuba-diving and see just everything there is to see down there...

3. Wildest thing you've ever done?

Hmm wow, that's a toughy. I'm a bit of a klutz, so it might take me some time to think of this... Probably the one time I tried consumed way too much sugar before school started. I wound up staying awake all day. My Chem class was boring beyond words and I was dead tired, but I was on such a sugar high, I was actually able to stay awake throughout the whole thing! :)

Two rounds of questions in a row?! Awesome!

samurai10...

1. Craziest thing you've ever done?

I pretty much answered the same question in the last round, but this gives me more reason to come up with another crazy thing I've done! XD Ummm let's see... Well, I've done a lot of very klutzy things at school. Tripped on the stairs, sat down at a lunch table and had it fall on my legs, spilled soup on the floor, stood up and hit my head on an open locker door, spilled hot glue on one of my legs, had a bunch of books from on top of the lockers fall down and hit me on the head, spilled my water in a walkway... >_> Yes, I did a lot. XD

2. Are you a complete fan of LOTR? (if you are, so'm I! ^_^)

Indeed!

3. Favorite book?

I like a lot of books really. I like just about everything I've read by Ted Dekker, Frank Peretti, and Edgar Allan Poe.

4. Favorite book series?

Probably The Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker, as far as series I've actually completed go... I still have to read "Green" though.

5. Favorite food?

As a whole, Italian and Chinese food. I especially like vegetarian egg rolls, fried rice, spaghetti, extra cheese pizza... YUM!

6. Do you like/hate/not care about Math?

I detest it... >_>

7. What about the subject of English?

I ADORE it!

And rocklobster...

1. Favorite composers?

I actually like most classical music I've heard. My favorite genres as far as musical composition would have to be Classical and Gothic. I like just about everything I've heard, so long as my sorts of instruments are used. With me? Can't go wrong with a piano! :) I could probably listen to the Fantasia soundtrack all day long... My favorite Gothic composition band would probably be Midnight Syndicate.

2. Do you like J-pop? If so, favorite J-pop?

Actually, I think I do. It's surprising, since I don't really like American pop very much... I like listening to American pop every now and then, but J-pop is something I like much better. I think it's because I feel Japanese accents compliment the music better than American ones do...

Anyway, I like listening to the few songs I've heard from Buono! That's the group of three girls who perform most of the music in Shugo Chara! I also like Utada's song "Hikari" - the Japanese version more so than "Simple And Clean".

3. Do you like Christian Rock? If so, who do you like?

Oh man - for sure! What I listen to mostly depends on my mood, though. As a whole, I like Gothic and hard rock music. Bands like Skillet, Flyleaf, Thousand Foot Krutch, Kids in the Way, and the like... Every now and then I'll dive into something softer like Seventh Day Slumber or Kutless. But despite my taste for Gothic music and hard rock, Relient K has kept status as my favorite band since I was about 14.

No. Come to think of it, I've never listened to them. Are they any good?

2. Favorite classic video games, if any?

What exactly do you consider "classic"? Pac Man? Space Invaders? Asteroids? Mario? Something else?

3. Do you play sudoku?

by classic, I mean before NES in 1986. And yes, Blind Guardian is awesome. Check em out on Youtube sometime. It's basically what LOTR would be like as a rock opera.
OK, on to questions:
1. Favorite Disney character?
2. Do you like Star Trek? Which version: original, next generation, or current movie?
3. What's your opinion on Harry Potter?

I love the Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe game! I was always Lucy, just because it was LUCY, not because she had particularly cool powers.

Oh, and I adore Buono! too!! Have you heard their song, "Goal"? I love that one!
And for something festive, try "Winter Story"! It's so cute!

Somebody else on another site had a very witty username along similar means, and when I couldn't think of a username I wanted to use for this site, I thought of "mysngoeshere". "sn" stands for "screen name". XD So, it's basically "my screen name goes here" with some random number at the end.

2.Have you heard of BarlowGirl? Thy're a christian pop/rock band and I think they're very good

Yes, I've heard of them. I don't know if I'd put them in my top ten, because I typically prefer harder or more Gothic types of music, but I definitely think they're a good band to listen to. They're the best all-female band I've heard. They have some very catchy songs, and my mom's a major fan. I love their songs "Mirror", "I Need You To Love Me", "Million Voices", and "Never Alone". I even met them at a concert a few years back - very nice girls.

3. Is it snowing?

Sadly, not where I am. :(

And thanks for the recommendations, Tamachan! :) And yes, I adore The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe game... I beat all of it except the last level, because I never got around to ultimately defeating the White Witch in battle. I still have my copy of it so I'm going to have to pick it up and play again. It was amazing!

2. Ever read C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy?

What is the 3 most wanted things on your Christmas list this year?
And this I pray, that your love would abound still, more and more with real knowledge and all discernment. Be prepared to preach the gospel at a moment's notice. Do you know the gospel well enough to do so yourself? Be ready.

2. To be done with college already.

1. Very clever. I've actually been thinking it's high time to finally change my signature and avatar, so maybe I should look into something along those lines. XD

2. Yeah, I'm teaching myself how to play the piano. I sing, too. I also played the violin for about three years.

OH WOW! I'm sorry - I didn't even notice this post until Just now. Anywho, I'll get to answering *these* questions now...

Okay so for classic game, I'm gonna go for Pac Man, and every spin-off. :) That game's epic and brings back lots of memories.

1. Hmm... Depends on if you mean classic Disney, Disney-Pixar, or what. But as a whole, I'm gonna say Winnie-The-Pooh and the gang.

2. I've never really been one for Star Trek, actually... It's not that I don't like it. It's just that I haven't looked into it all that much. I do know a little about it though, because there are some fans in my family. Guess I should look into it a bit. I did see the recent movie. I thought overall, the story was pretty good - could've done without a few choice words, though.

3. I honestly don't have an opinion of it. I was sheltered from it as a kid. I went to a private school and the books were banned from the campus. I'm thinking of reading it now, though.

Aaaaaand to Tamachan's questions...

Harry Potter doesn't deserve its negative rep, trust me.
1. Ever watch anything British, like Doctor Who, Monty Python, etc?
2. Ever read any classic sci-fi like Isaac Asimov, Robert E. Heinlein, or Ray Bradbury?

Yeah, I'd believe that. A lot of negative claims I've heard about them I haven't really heard other than through word of mouth by people who were extremely against them...

1. Actually, I have seen some Doctor Who. It's a pretty good show. A little bizarre (granted, I'm not exactly a MAAAAAAJOR sci-fi person...), but it's still a pretty good show up to what I've watched so far. I have one friend who's in love with it.

2. I've actually read quite a bit of classic lit, so I don't entirely remember everything I've read. I went through a module on classic Sci-Fi in one of my classes... I don't remember if I read any of those specific authors, but I do remember reading some Kurt Vonnegut (EPICAC was such a sad story...). I know I've heard of those authors before somewhere, though... So even if I haven't read their stuff, I've heard of them.

1. Prequels, by far... The Jedi characters are my favorite. I miss their presence in the originals... But as far as the original characters go, I like Han, Leia, and Chewie... but I can't stand Luke's character (nothing against Mark Hamill himself, just Luke), which is yet another reason why I don't like the original as much. If I went to the trouble of telling you the full story as to why, you wouldn't be able to stand him either... So, I'll spare you. ROFL!

2. Is this men only, without voice actors? If so, Liam Neeson, Tom Welling, Chris Colfer, and Harrison Ford. Though I didn't care much for the movie itself (mostly the inappropriate aspects of it), I rather liked Ryan Reynolds's acting The Proposal... but that's his only movie I've seen. I also liked Zac Efron's portrayal of his character in Seventeen Again, but that's the only thing he's really done that I rather liked. If something becomes a "big name", I tend to dislike it after awhile because I get tired of hearing about it so much. This was the case of High School Musical.

3. Hmmm, if Pixar's included, I guess Finding Nemo. That'll likely always be my favorite Disney-Pixar movie.... OH!!! But does their Touchstone Pictures label also count? If so, The Nightmare Before Christmas is basically my favorite movie of all time.

4. Overall, I still say Winnie-the-Pooh and the gang. He reminds me of a deceased loved one, so it's impossible for me not to feel a bit better watching him, no matter what the situation. The characters from Nemo and Nightmare are very close seconds, though.

1. Anne Hathaway, Idina Menzel, and Jenna Ushkowitz.

2. Hmmm... Glee (minus the inappropriate aspects of it), and SOME of the older Disney shows that were live-action. They really let the quality of their shows drop after they stopped doing The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. I thought Phil of the Future was a fun and good show. Lizzie McGuire was fun, but I didn't care for it much... I didn't really like That's So Raven all that much because I felt the advertising of it was a bit overdone, and better shows got ignored for it. Even Stevens was probably their best show... I also like the bits of certain crime shows I've seen (like CSI and Criminal Minds), but I haven't seen too many episodes of them... My mom's addicted to them, though.

3. Spongebob Squarepants! :) I can't stomach overly crude humor like the stuff that's on Roseanne (not a cartoon but it's along similar means), Family Guy, or The Simpsons. So, I say Spongebob is my cleaner alternative to those shows... OH! And Arthur's a classic from my childhood. I also rather like Invader Zim, but only for the sake of the story... The way the characters are portrayed (more so the adult characters like Ms. Bitters and Professor Membrane) kind of disturbs me, though - especially the fact that Professor Membrane lets Dib and Gaz go ignored so much for the sake of his studies. So as much as I enjoy the cartoon, I'm willing to admit that I don't think it sets the best example.

4. Hmmm I rather like a lot of American comics, but I'm not an avid reader of very many. I was into these Christian comics called PowerMark when I was a kid... I still have my old copies of the comics. I'm also into the graphic novel forms of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys... And just about any comic that's based on something I enjoy, like Star Wars comics.

Neither - I don't do sea food. Can't take the smell... I don't eat any meat at all either.

WOW! Sorry it's taken me awhile to get back with you on this one. Anywho...

It would depend on the type of musician.

In terms of soundtrack sort of music... I rather like a lot of Midnight Syndicate's gothic music. I also rather like most classical musicians... I'm not necessarily picky with classical music. :)

In terms of music with lyrics and such... Phil Collins's voice is very good. I don't listen to him very much, but I think he's a talented musician... I don't agree with a lot of the choices Amy Lee has made, but I do rather like her voice and skills with the piano.

But, this is barely scratching the musical genre from my point of view.
