School, Grades, and Other Issues

Postby initialdfreak » Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:03 pm

So, My grades this past semester most likely will not be good. My cumulative GPA previous to this semester was 2.35. I was taking some more advanced computer science classes this fall. Some of them I got a C in but the others I got a D in. I also was taking a statistics course. I am terrible in math and in all likelihood I have failed the stats course. The official grades have yet to be released by the school. All that said, I am asking for prayer that I will be able to return to school next semester and that next semester will be much better academically. Studying skills do not come naturally for me. I also frequently suffer from depression, which I am sure has an effect on studying effectiveness. Thanks all.

I understand firsthand how depression can influence grades, study habits, and ability to retain information. I'll be praying.

I'll be praying Initial. I suffer from depression and it can impact everything. When I am in a episode and have to study, i try to do an hour of work, break and stress release, and then back to it to kind of help with the frustration and irritability my depression comes with.

praying!!!
I am on the forefront of battle against the demons of earth. All Praise and Glory be given to God Forever and Ever!

I also understand what it's like to be a college/university student and undergoing depression while having to study... It's certainly not easy. I, too, will be praying. :)

Thanks every one. I am still worried about my grades for this past semester. But I guess all that I can do is wait and pray until the grades do finally come out. Hopefully, I will be able to continue at School. I am a junior and it would be a shame if all of the work and toil I put in would be for nothing. Thanks everyone.

I know how that goes, friend. Been there myself. Praying!
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

So, here is an update on the situation. Grades came out today. I made a 1.68 for the semester. I failed Statistics. I passed or did better than passing on everything else. However, what that means is that I will have to do a summer sometime soon to replace the score in Stats. I kept the university requirement of 2.0, just barely. My cumulative gpa is currently 2.13. I do not know what this means for future job opportunities but for right now I am still in school. Next semester something must change. For the past few semesters it has been this sort of cycle. I either barely pass or do not do as well as I want. Maybe I need to be more aggressively seeking help for professors or to get a tutor or something. I cannot go through this every semester. Also, It doesn't help that studying doesn't come naturally to me.
