How long can you watch anime?

Postby Arya Raiin » Fri Nov 26, 2010 1:52 pm

Exactly as the thread says: How long can you watch anime? Recently I've gone on a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood craze and as I'm posting this I've just passed the eight hours straight mark. However I've watched Naruto for ten hours straight... and then I fell asleep.

So, how much anime have you been able to watch in one sitting?

It really depends on my mood, as I can take an hour to watch a single episode, or watch four to five in a row. My record is watching all of Kure-nai straight, but that would be twelve episodes, so about six hours.

Hrm. It depends. I think my record is 13 hours straight in a CCS marathon. For three days straight.

Spice and Wolf marathon is my record, which is also about 6 hours...however, I did go on a marathoning for Bleach (while knitting/online checkers) for like a month or two when we first moved because I had NOTHING to do.

The longest I can meaningfully watch anime is for about 6 straight hours, which I have on a few occasions.

Once, I watched all of Darker Than BLACK in one sitting (well, two if you count the five minute bathroom break). That was far too much: around the 10 hour point I didn't really care about much of anything that happened in the show (of course, that could have been because of the quality). By hour 12 I was just glad it was over.

I wouldn't know because it's either too late and I am recommended to go to bed by my parents, or I have run the bill up too high and am not allowed to watch for the rest of the month.

Man I've never really checked... probably far longer than I should.

These days unless I'm watching something with someone else, I generally watch an hour or two unless it's something amazing.

Since my longest anime DVD is the final volume of Azumaga Daioh, with 7 episodes, I'd say probably the longest I've spent is almost 3 hours.

It's been a while so I can't remember exactly, but the longest I've sat was enough to watch over 30 episodes.

Edit: 38 I think, of the first Full Metal Alchemist

Generally, if I like the anime or if I'm re-watching it I can watch probably 5 episodes at the most in one sitting. I don't really need to spend much more time than that nor would I want to, unless I had nothing else to do.

I could watch more if I wanted to, but by the 4th or 5th episode I want to play a game or do something on the computer.

if you had said, how much anime can you watch in a day, i would've said that my record is about 24 episodes. :P but since you said in one sitting, i'll say my record is....7 hours. and, i was still into the anime. XD

perhaps this is why i need new glasses.....

Alright... I did it. I watched 14-62 of FMA:Brotherhood in a day. I had watched 1-14 again the night before. I went to bed at about 3 o'clock this morning and slept until noon. I think I destroyed some brain cells for watching that much anime, but it was fun! Sometimes I get an anime that I just can't put down!

It all depends. I remember when I first showed Mom "Fullmetal Alchemist" I think I showed her all the episodes of the half of season 1 boxset (that's 4 discs, each containing 4 episodes, you do that math XD!!!!). Wasn't bored once....

Longest I've ever watched anime for was an entire day marathon session my anime club had one winter break. We watched all of Golden Boy (6 OVA episodes) and all of Ah My Goddess (5 OVA episodes + the movie) and I think one or two episodes of something else. The regular anime club meetings were usually 4 hours also.

it used to be that I could watch 6 or 7 episodes at a time without feeling tired, but these days I can usually only average 3 or 4 at the most, unless its something like Yugioh, which I can watch a lot more of at once.

I might spend several hours watching one thing, but I don't generally do these really long marathons. That sounds like a good way to actually get burned out on watching anime.

At first I was just going to say, "Oh, I never watch more than one or two episodes at a time." But then I remembered!

On my last birthday, I marathoned Gunslinger Girl, because I had the day off of school but wouldn't have time to keep watching afterwards. So I only paused for supper, and if you count that as one sitting, then that would amount to...four and a half hours, give or take? Wow, that still doesn't sound like very much. But it felt like it! DX

EDIT: I just remembered that once I tried calculating how long it would take to marathon the first FMA. If you cut out theme songs, it would amount to about 17 hours @_@

I don't watch anime all that often, but when I do I generally marathon series, the largest series as of late was Eureka 7. I marathoned Gundam Wing over a weekend once...Also I have watched the entirety of Nadesico, a 26 episode series. I generally marathon about six or so eps at a time.

I had a friend that came to visit for my wedding. And I kid you not. She watched ALL of Princess Tutu in one sitting. CRAZY.
I am not sure how long I have spent in one sitting, I'd rather not think of it. Because there is almost always something better I could be doing.

It kind of depends on the anime, and what else I have going on XD. If it's a serious anime, with lots of drama (*coughRainbowcough*) Then, probably only a couple hours...but if it's a fun anime, like Ouran or Princess Jellyfish, then I could probably watch at least 6-8 hours, especially if I have a group of friends.

Me and a friend of mine have pulled some pretty impressive anime marathons in our day. The biggest, baddest one was watching the whole first season of Higurashi in one night. The weekend we plowed through Death Note might have involved even longer stretches of watching, but it's kind of a blur now, so I'm not sure.

Yeah, same here. I might pause it and work on some other stuff and then continue watching it, and as such take an hour or two to watch... Or I might get so into it that I'll watch three in a row.

I can't really remember what my record is, though... I'm thinking maybe 4-6 in a row, for a few days. I watched nothing but CCS for a few days because I wanted to see all the episodes I'd seen dubbed in subbed form, so I marathoned the sub to get to the point where I was in the dub and then finished it off in the sub. :)

Easy question.

I marathoned the (w)hole of Berserk in one sitting. This translates into exactly 10 hours and 23 minutes.
