I found a couple of free shooters that are actually really good.

one of them is Alien Swarm, which you can download on steam.

The other you can find at this link.

Alien Swarm's all right - it's not best game ever, but it gets the job done, and the price is right.

But yeah, I love me some freeware games. Check out Hydorah (great retro-styled horizontal shmup - think Gradius or R-Type), Iji (A bit like Flashback/Blackthorne/Out Of This World, with a brilliant story and some great touches to it), Genetos (vertical shmup with great music and an awesome upgrade system) and Battle for Wesnoth (a hexagonal combination of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars with all kinds of mods for it).

Also, EA's releasedCommand and Conquer 1, Tiberian Sun and Red Alert for free, which is pretty awesome too.
We are loved even though we suck.

Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, and Revenge of the Titans are available for whatever you care to pay. You can also choose to donate your payment to the Electronic Frontier Foundation or the Child's Play Charity.

I have been very interested in Braid for a long time, so I am looking forward to picking up the bundle after finals are over.

EDIT: The deal is only available for another 3 days and 19 hours.
