1. Favorite "so bad it's good" movie?
2. Ever read any of the Star Wars books?
3. Ever read the Dune series (either the originals or the revival by his son and Kevin Anderson)?
4. What do you think of Spider-man?

1. Surrogate was pretty darn bad-good.
2. Nope.
3. No, I haven't, though I'm interested. (I say that about a lot of things, don't I?)
4. He's pretty cool. A bit on the emo side though.

Yes, green. Let me quote myself quoting myself:

1. Yes. Loved it.
2. Not at the moment. I was last year though, and may go back next year.
3. I've got an AS in general science. If I go back it'll probably be Comp Sci.
4. I think this is a little too close to personally identifying information for me to be comfortable answering. :) No offense intended.

1. You seem like a pretty intelligent person. Have you ever had your IQ tested?
2. What do you think of Batman?
3. What tv show do you like to watch when nothing else is on and you want to watch something?

1. I did, but I don't like intelligence tests. They are just one instance of trying to give an objective measure to something inherently subjective. (Or maybe I'm just bitter because I didn't know who Charles Darwin was at the time...)
2. Pretty awesome. I've seen the three Tim Burton movies. Liked the first two a lot; the third one kind of fell flat for me, probably because it didn't have Danny Elfman's music.
3. When nothing else is on and I want to watch something I usually watch whatever anime I'm in the middle of. I don't generally watch broadcasted TV. What little I do is always recorded on a DVR. I guess that's why I believe the TV radio frequency space should be given over to Internet purposes, because you can watch TV on the internet, and you can't browse the internet over TV. :)

Actually, you kind of can. There's a way to hook up your PC to your TV and use it as a monitor.
1. Favorite actors?
2. Favorite movie director?
3. Which do you have--Mac or PC?
4. Is Kermit your favorite muppet, since you like green?

I mean over TV airwaves.

1. Ian Mckellan. All those old guys who can actually act.
2. Hayao Miyazaki. Otherwise I'd have to say Tim Burton or something.
3. Macs are PCs, classic commercial campaigns notwithstanding. So, let me answer a couple questions that could mean:
3.1. Do you have Mac hardware, or other hardware?
Other hardware. I'm currently using an IBM thinkpad T61. Nice machine for its price. Macs tend to be expensive]Do you use Mac OS or Windows?
Neither. I'm using Linux. Ubuntu 10.10 to be specific. I do have a Windows XP partition but I don't like Windows XP. (I only use it for programs that won't run on Linux, which are surprisingly few.)

U-ummm... Let's see... I might as well jump in the fun =D Let's see...

1: Favorite DS game? :3

2: When and how did you come to know the Lord? =D

3: If you could hang with any anime character for one whole day(Video Games that are like anime, such as Shining Tears and Phoenix Wright count to!) who would it be? :3

4: Top five favorite bands? (Secular and/or Christian)

5: And umm... Lastly... OH Here's an interesting question that came to mind, what are your top five favorite emotions and the variations of it(Like there's happy, but then there's happy when someone or something makes you laugh, or when you're excited for something, y'know?)? :3

I think that's it... Hope tis questions are OK =D
Christianity + Anime = Christianime. 'Nuff said, ja?

Phoenix Wright: "Stay down... This seems suspicious... I wonder who this guy is..."

Professor Layton: "Hmm... Why, this reminds me of a puzzle!"

Phoenix: "Wait, wha-!? Is this really the ti-!"

Maya: " Oh Nick, don't be such a fuddy duddy! Try out a puzzle! C'mon Professor, give him your best shot! Nick'll solve anything you've got!"

Luke: " Yes! The Professor only gives easy ones anyway. I am sure you won't have any issues!"

Phoenix: "OK... I guess, but don't you think-"

Maya: "Shh! Listen Nick! You'll miss something important like you usually do!"

Layton: "-Insert some insane puzzle/riddle thing-"

Phoenix: "..."

Everyone stares. Maya get's uncomfortably close.

Phoenix: "... Oh look! He's gone in to the castle, let's go after him and investigate! -Runs off-"

1. Hmm...That's difficult. I haven't played with the DS in a while, but I'd probably guess New Super Mario Bros. or Metroid Prime Hunters.
2. Well I was raised as a Christian so I'm not exactly sure. Any major decisions I've made on the way I've forgotten when they happened.
3. Honestly I think Vash the Stampede would be a real blast. So it'd either be that or one of the characters from Toradora.
4. Ooh, so picking a favorite is not enough, and I have to give a list? I'm afraid this is too difficult for me, as I don't prioritize things I like in any order. So let me answer this like any other 'favorite' question, and instead give a couple examples of bands I like, such as Rachel's, Amethystium, Relient K, Yoko Kanno (Not a band, but still), whatever band did Super Mario Galaxy, ゆ], and several others I'm not remembering at the moment but still like a lot.
5. Ooh, this is an interesting question. Nobody asks questions like these. Let's see... (Like above, I can't make an ordered list, but I can give a nonexhaustive, unordered list).

- I like being happy of course. Particularly what I like is when I find out something I've done amuses or helps somebody. I don't like being recognized for it though. If somebody calls me out as being helpful or compliments me for it I feel kinda awkward.
- I like being sad in a particular way, called catharsis (Wikipedia
), where it feels justified and wholesome.
- I sometimes like fear, depending on circumstances. Generally movies and anime don't scare me much but when a program really freaks me out and I'm on the edge of my seat, there really is nothing quite like it. Sometimes dealing with the CAA community is a little like this.
- I really like the feeling of flow (Wikipedia), where you're so focused on doing something that it consumes your entire mind and the world apart from it disappears.
- Another feeling I really like, perhaps more than all the others, is the numinous feeling, sometimes described as other-wordly or supernatural. It's when you feel like you're experiencing something very unusual, significant, and unknown, or makes you feel like you're dreaming. It's part of the feeling of holiness or divinity.
- A feeling I really don't like is anger. It's very rare that I get angry at someone, but when I do it feels just awful. You usually can't make me angry except by acting like a royal idiot on purpose.

Anyway, those were okay questions if you're okay with the answers. I just wish people didn't ask me so many 'favorite' questions since I don't think in terms of favorites very well. But yeah, thanks for your interest!

And on that note, what interests you about computer science to want to study it more in depth? (you mentioned that you may go on further in college and study it)

Hmm. Literally: "When you were a child, what did you become?"
An adult.
Heh. I assume you mean "What did you want to become", which would be something like "何になりたかったのですか" I think.
Well, I always wanted to become a gardener. The old-fashioned kind who actually takes care of a garden rather than the kind that goes house to house making noise with a leafblower.

As for why I like computer science...well, that's complicated. I could duck out and say it's because it's my father's profession, but that's not quite the truth. He never pushed it onto me really.

I guess it's that I like talking to computers more than talking to people. This may sound strange but hear me out. Computers always do exactly what you tell them to do; or at least try to do it. They're reliable that way. If you talk to a person, they always color your words with their own assumptions and take implications out of what you're saying that may be entirely different from what you mean, which can cause misunderstandings. You may have inferred from the first sentence that I think of computers as better companions than people, or that I think computers can somehow replace people, but that's not the case. See, a computer usually takes what you say at face value, and doesn't twist it around to mean something else. Computers believe you, and put you in control.

Now of course, computers don't speak the same languages humans do. That's because human languages like English are extremely complicated, and computers just aren't smart enough to deal with that. It may seem to a regular person like you have to be smart to use a computer language, but it's the opposite; you have to be smart to use a human language. Computer languages are much simpler than human languages. If you've taken only a year's worth of a foreign language class--enough to form basic sentences with a limited vocabulary--that's enough time to completely master a computer language. If most linguists can learn two or three extra human languages in their career, then computer programmers can learn ten or twenty computer languages.

I could rant on and on about how great it feels to be in control of computers, but that's the gist of it. It suits me as a field, and I think more people should be interested in it.

Ahh! I can see how that would get tiring, then I shall refrain from asking those questions often, I might wanna know something that you favor over something else at some point ^^; lol Thank you for your answers, I didn't expect them to be like that, but I enjoyed them non the less, you are an interesting person. Interesting is always the best! lol OK, now time for another set of questions, if I am allowed ^^; I do agree though, Vash would be very interesting, and I loved the emotions you picked =D I was also raised Christian, good to know +1 was also raised =D lol

1: If you were to label your life as a novel and give it a title, what would it be? (Example: Drama/Comedy(Dramedy lol) 'The Golden Sets sets before the Silver Moon') And if not to troublesome, what would be the hook? Like the stuff on the back on the book?

2: If you were to be made up of multiple anime characters, who would they be? (Like, you'd have parts of Vash, such as his goofiness in some nature, but his seriousness in others, then Rock Lee's(From Naruto) determination to fight fo what you believe in, then Goku's carefree Spirit, then Ed's temper, and the likes. It doesn't have to get to specific if you don't want to, but I thought it was an interesting question.)

3: Favorite color and number? lol

4: What do you find out of watching anime? Just a nice thing to do? Does it let you escape the difficulties of life? Does it actually help you do something in your life? Any reason at all? =D

5: Last one... Hmmm... What are your thoughts on teh apocalypse? What do you think'll happen? Do you think we'll go to heaven before or after it? What would you do if it happened in your lifetime?

And I think that's it.... I am sorry if these may be to personal or deep, I am really tired (It's like... Past 12 AM >.< Lack of sleep is finally catching up >.<) So I tend to get a little more in depth, my personality can change sometimes, it's weird XD lol I hope these are better then 'What's your favorite...' questions though XD lol

Out of pure curiosity, what computer language(s) do you think would be the most helpful for just an everyday person (not a person studying in computer science)?

Wow, you ask some really good questions. Really hard questions, but good.
1. It's difficult to compare my life to a novel because novels, being stories, require a sense of closure--that is, a beginning, a middle, and an end. Most kinds of novels, if they were my life, would be either just beginning or right in the middle. However, I could take a guess at some kinds of names...
"There's a word for that?" - This would be if it was a comedy novel. I don't think I'd make a very good comedy, but still.
"Quiet Fanatic" - This would be interesting. It would be told from my point of view, but would never directly mention me or what I say. The goal would be to figure out what I'm like based on the people and things around me.
"What Is Is, and What Isn't Isn't" - This would be if the book was more introspective, detailing my spiritual journey and philosophy.
"Experimental" - This would be about me being a computer programmer, among other things. The deal is that I'd write computer programs considered to be "experimental"--that is, really interesting but not ready for wide deployment--but it'd actually be that my life is experimental because I'm so different from everyone else that there's no prior model to base it on.

2. This is an interesting question, though also hard. I'll go with (after much thought):
Ed from Cowboy Bebop for liking computers and sitting in strange positions
Nagato Yuki from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for being quiet and socially passive
Sorami Kanata from Sora no Woto, for just wanting everyone to be happy
Li Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (also Cardcaptor Sakura) for insisting on what I believe in. And for being a total guy because all my other examples were girls.

3. Green. Let me quote myself quoting myself quoting myself:
Midori wrote:

For numbers, I can't give a favorite, but I can give a list. 3, 4, 6, 11, 32, 60, 89, 96, 500, 512

4. Well that depends entirely on which anime. It's just like any other medium]You didn't answer my question about Kermit, so I shall repost it:
Is Kermit your favorite muppet?
Do you like Naruto? If so, who's your fave character?

Ah, I must have missed that one. I do like kermit quite a lot. I think he probably is my favorite muppet.
I liked Naruto for a little while, but then it got really boring. I expected my favorite character would be Hinata but I never saw much of her. So, of the more major characters I'd say it's probably Sasuke.
Ah yes, I knew I forgot to add something in there. XD Thanks for correcting me. ^_^
*feels a bit bad that she's using this thread to half practice her Japanese. >_>]

Oh any garden. A pretty garden would be the best. ^_^ Trees don't generally have to be taken care of, and food crops tend to be grown now en masse in fields rather than in small gardens, so it'd probably end up being flowers or other decorative plants. Or, you know what would be cool? Being the person who takes care of the plants in a zoo.

Computer languages for ordinary people? Well, HTML is a kind of computer language that's useful (and easy) for people to learn, but it's not a full-fledged programming language. An actual programming language would be Javascript, which, even though I don't like it very much, is very useful to learn if you're doing anything on the internet. But for the most part I'd have to say that the most useful computer language to learn would be whatever the command line language for your OS is (meaning the language used to simply enter commands and run programs). On Linux and Mac OS X it's called bash. On Windows it's either cmd or Powershell. Anyway, the basic mechanics of any of them are the same; you just type the name of a program and then any arguments you wish to give it. For example, in bash:
cp Pictures/starburst.jpg blogfiles/
would copy the file named starburst.jpg in your Pictures folder into the folder for your web page. That's just a basic example; one of the coolest things you can do from the command line is log onto another computer that you have a password for and do things on it. So if you have a computer at home with a list of phone numbers, and you're on your laptop in Australia, and someone asks you for the phone number of your friend, you can log onto your home computer from where you are and find the phone number.

The other thing about the command line is that there are a lot of useful programs that don't have a graphical interface and can only be run from the command line. Things like ffmpeg, a powerful (free) video encoding library. The thing is, it takes a lot of effort to program a graphical interface, so it's much easier to write a program that runs on the command line. Basically, it takes less effort to learn how to use a command line program than to learn how to create a program with a graphical interface.

It's not that I'm saying everyone should use the command line. For many people, clicking links on a web browser is enough for anything. It's just that if you're at all interested in computers and how they work, the command line is an easy way to get into that sort of thing. It's like if you're interested in cars, then you want to know how to change a tire or jump the engine. You don't have to know, but it could be useful.

Wow, that's the longest post I've written in a long time. I hope you liked my answers, because I sure liked answering.

1. Quite so. I think Sean Connery was the best James Bond, personally.
2. The best action hero is Yomiko Readman.
3. Mostly Street Fighter II (no super, turbo, hyper, or alpha). I'm the most powerful as Chun Li, but I can be pretty fierce with Guile and Ryu/Ken too, and if I can get into the right brainstate, Dhalsim and Zangief. And I'm not bad at Blanka or E.Honda. Well, I just listed every playable character in the game. Can you tell I'm a generalist?

1. How hard is the Japanese language?
2. Worst video game you ever purchased?
3. Ever read The Invisibles? (if you haven't, pick it up! It's weird and awesome! I believe most, if not all, of it has been collected in graphic novels)

1. I'd say it's about as hard as the English language. :) Actually, all languages are about equally hard; whether its easy for you to learn them depends on how much overlap there is between it and your native language. So, languages like Spanish and French would be a little easier for English-speaker to learn, while languages like Arabic and Mandarin would be difficult. I'd say that Japanese is a little easier than Mandarin (or other Chinese languages), as it has grammatical structures that are a bit more easy to understand.
2. Hmm, I try to avoid purchasing bad video games, but of course sometimes that doesn't work very well. I've had some very bad video games that were given to me, but the worst one I've purchased is probably Red Steel. Yeah, it was really hyped and all, but the designers just made so many mistakes. If you want a good Wii FPS go get Metroid Prime 3 (Or Trilogy I suppose). The controls of MP3 are amazing and fluid; compared to them the controls of Red Steel are like aiming a gun with your toes.
3. No, I'll remember the name next time I'm looking around for things like that.

2. Worst TV show you ever watched?
3. Worst book you ever read?
4. Worst movie?
5. Did you ever write a computer program?

1. Generally, if I see something that bad, I try to forget about it as fast as possible, thus it is difficult to answer this question. I suppose, if you say "watched" and not "seen" then that means I'd have to have watched a full episode. I think I've seen a full episode of Spongebob Squarepants, but I'm not sure...
2. Same as above, I think.
3. Books are even easier to stop in the middle than TV shows, so...
4. Let's see...again going by the "watch means all of it" principle, I'd say Surrogate.
5. Yes. Let me list a few...
- A simple 2D game engine, first written in Perl 5, then in Perl 6, then in C
- A script to automatically download and change my background to a random Black Rock Shooter image
- A program to read C header files and link them to a Perl 6 implementation (this was eventually succeeded by a different project)
- And since we're counting Game Maker games, a rather challenging space-war-type game, with pretty explosions. You can get it here.

1. Ever meet anyone famous? (voice actors count)
2. If you were able to go on a game show, which one would it be?
3. Dream car?
4. Best thing about being a mod so far?

1. Probably the most famous person I have met is the creator of Perl, the programming language. He's a pretty cool guy who I've spoken to from time to time.
2. Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Large money involved, and you get as much time as you want to answer the questions.
3. Those automatic ones the Googlies are developing.
4. The fact that when I enter the chat, twice as many people greet me as before. ;) More seriously, what I actually like most is the sense of being able to be a useful member to the community, in a place where I have respect for my job, but I'm mostly anonymous so people can't compliment me directly, which makes me feel uncomfortable.

Well, don't worry. I'm one of the many people who appreciate what you're doing.
1. Favorite cheesy 80's band?
2. Ever read any Agatha Christie novels?
3. Are you a fan of Stanley Kubrick? Got any favorite movies he did? (Note: You can also include ones he didn't direct but still had a hand in, like Artificial Intelligence)

1. Uh, I don't listen to much cheesy 80's music, so no opinion.
2. Maybe. I don't remember if I have or not, but probably not.
3. Never heard of him. If I've seen one of his movies, I didn't know it was him. (EDIT: Actually, I have seen Dr. Strangelove, which I have been informed is a Stanley Kubrick movie.)

Sorry they're all negative. :|

1. Have you ever read any Stephen King?
2. Did you go to a Shinto shrine when you were in Japan? If you did, what was it like to experience a non-Christian place of worship?
3. Do you like any sports?
4. Favorite C.S. Lewis book?
5. Favorite Beethoven piece?

1. Maybe. Not that I know of.
2. Yes...it's very strange. There's a couple things. First of all, unlike most religions here, there's very definitely idols sitting around. Of various sorts. One of the creepiest places is where there's rows and rows of little statues representing children who were stillborn or died at a young age. Sometimes people knit little caps for them or things like that. The religion's version of hell is not very nice to children...and its kind of ambiguous whether people respect the statues to bring their souls to peace, or to keep them from coming back to this world to torment their families. Next, it seems the people's duty is just to visit every once in a while, and it's the priests' full-time job to do the worshipping mostly. There's a lot of places where normal people aren't allowed to enter or look at. The last thing is that they'll often unabashedly combine a Buddhist temple and a Shinto temple together, despite the religions being somewhat opposed. There'll be a giant gold Buddha in one room, and a Shinto idol in another room...it's just kinda dumb.
3. I've studied Karate for 10 or 11 years. Besides that, the only remotely sport-like thing I've done is Bible Quizzing.
4. Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
5. Hm...I had a favorite, that I was playing on the piano many years back, but both the name and tune have escaped me. :|

3. Best holiday?

1. Trip to Japan. That was officially a birthday present, though I think it was also a Christmas present too. >.> It was really awesome though. The food is awesome and the sights are awesome and the rain is awesome and the artificial island Odaiba ("Platform City") is awesome...
2. I'm saving up for whatever I decide to buy when I decide to buy something. I'm not very ambitious. Maybe I'll get a new laptop when my current one decides to venture to the next world.
3. Best holiday? You mean the day that's a holiday I like most? Halloween, because I get to help decorate my house all creepyawesome. We have these black lights you see, which make everything glow...some of the best glowing things are:
- Regular white printer paper, which is pretty awesome.
- Those plastic seals that come on Breyer's ice cream cartons; BRIGHT purple, totally awesome, collect them all year and hang them all over our trees. They glow so brightly in UV light that you can see them glowing in mere sunlight.
- Almost anything marketed as glow-in-the-dark
- Almost anything of a fluorescent or neon color (the "higlighter" colors); stickers, pipe cleaners, you name it.
- Miscellaneous parts of trick-or-treaters' costumes, which entertains them to no end
- Some kinds of cheap transparent Scotch tape
- etc.
We also play creepy music out of speakers outside, with a really big subwoofer for ground-shaking bass. We almost always end up picking video game music since it's most suitable for being background music.

1. Probably Daniel. Or Luke. Or Moses. For some reason it's different every time I answer this question...
2. My least favorite writer was a spambot I banned a couple days ago.
