Gosh, it's been a while since I posted here. Let's look at another ADV VA: Kira Vincent-Davis. Here's just a sample of her work:

Osaka on Azumanga Daioh (now we know who to blame for her silly Southern accent in the dub)
Quon Kisaragi on Rahxephon. (Loved her in this role. She was perfect!)

Kari Wahlgren has a large body of work in western, anime, and video games. If you're one of the few who saw the Legion of Superheroes cartoon, she played Saturn Girl (and did a pretty good job too) Here's some anime roles:

Ah, OK. That explains it! She did a pretty decent job, one of the few voices I could actually tolerate in there. XD!!!

Hey! Don't hate on Osaka's accent! It matches her so well, and it was the perfect way to set her apart as the "student from out of town". What sealed the deal for me was the following scene (With Japanese as a comparison):

I also love Kira Vincent-Davis when she played Kaede in the "Negima" series. She did an excellent job!

Hey! Don't hate on Osaka's accent! It matches her so well, and it was the perfect way to set her apart as the "student from out of town".

I don't always like the whole idea of substituting a southern accent to demonstrate a Japanese character is from the countryside thing (see "Love Hina," my most hated dub), but I thought Osaka sounded great. It wasn't over-the-top (no southern, Georgia belle/socialite for the voice) and the slow drawl fit Osaka's personality. Vincent-Davis' voicing of Osaka is one of my very favorites.

Our next subject is Dorothy Elias-Fahn, also known as Dorothy Melendrez and Annie Pastrano. Her best-known work is Meryl Strife from Trigun. Here's a sample of her other roles:
