Judgement Free Zone

Postby Yuki-Anne » Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:12 pm

Are there things that you like that everyone else seems to revile? Do you enjoy things that you feel a little stupid for enjoying, but still wish to declare to the world that you enjoy them?

This here is a judgement-free zone. You may declare that you enjoy something that everyone else hates, without everybody else posting to say that they hate it and giving all the reasons why. This could be anything from music to movies to things that ended up in the Worst Fads of All Time thread, to foods that others think are nasty, and so on. Anything you've ever been made to feel guilty for liking. Haters gonna hate, but not in this thread. This is a safe zone. If you're reading this thread and somebody posts about something you despise, don't think any less of them, and don't post to say how much you hate whatever it is that they posted about. You probably like things they think are stupid, too. It's all a matter of opinion. This is a positive area.

For my part, I admit that I actually from time to time enjoy hearing a Justin Bieber song. Kid's got talent, even if it is a little creepy to hear a 16-year-old proposing marriage on the radio. I'm not a huge fan, and I worry about some of his super-young fans, but I think it's better than all the hip-hop stars who sing about nothing but sex.

I also enjoy some of Lady Gaga's music, and I enjoyed Bleach until I got so far behind on it that I gave up.

Also, I don't mind crocs.

Anime.

I think it's pretty safe to say that I won't be judged by other members of this site for liking it, but offline......

yeah.

Hey, Yuki, nothing wrong with enjoying Bleach!

My iTunes collection contains lots of guilty pleasures, with some soft music (ex. Richard Marx and Bryan Adams), boy band music (Backstreet Boys and...Hanson!) among it.

Because a certain someone who shall remain nameless can't talk junk about it in here, I will take this opportunity to say that I LIKE LAST EXILE!

'80s synth music is also a guilty pleasure of mine.

TWWK, your soft rock statement reminded me of another of my "guilty pleasures"... I like Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up." I don't care if it's cheesy! And he's put out some new tunes that are really good and not at all cheesy.

Ditto on both points!

And Yuki, then you must really enjoy getting Rick rolled! I'll try to remember that for the future, ha! By the way, I enjoy that song also. :)

Oh man, yesterday one of my students here in Japan had a Tamagotchi, and it totally took me back. I had one of those for a while. I loved that thing, although it almost always transformed into the same creature.

I think End of Evangelion was a great ending to the series and anyone who doesn't think it's a Good End is watching the show wrong.

I still love Gumby. I grew up on that show. <3 I've also tried Vegemite and I liked it --very good on regular toast. :)

I enjoy reading children's books from time to time: Amelia Bedelia, the Golden books (Poky Little Puppy, Shy Little Kitten, etc. and several others. I grew up on these books --and I adore Amelia Bedelia because she takes things so literally!

I also love puns. They are so much fun --even the ones that make people groan. :D

I don't mind the Twilight movies. I just don't get the obsession.

Also, I like True Life on Mtv.

And another thing, I still enjoy Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Related to people liking '80s synth-pop liking and Robot Unicorn Attack, I am a straight male who likes Erasure unironically. Yes. And I also like power metal, especially the kind where D&D groups start banging on their guitars, drums and synthesizers like maniacs and [s]sing[/s] wail about slaying dragons and wandering blasted lands; the cheesier, the better.

Liking Justin Beiber's music is not comparable to the things I like on any level.

Which is why even if I posted them here, I'd be judged harshly and I won't fall for it. :p

But Star Wars is awesome. Nothing wrong with liking that.

Now if you said you liked the prequels, I might say different.
