Worst fad of all time

Brilliant deduction. What was your first clue, the fact that I'm 29? Also, wait, aren't most sixth graders like 11 or 12 years old? You have to be 13 to be a member here you know.

WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT? I feel like this is some sort of code that if I crack it all the mysteries of the universe will be revealed to me.

You're right. I never went to sixth grade, and when I would have gone, we would have been in the heady days of...ah...*looks it up* Eminem's stardom. Huh. Even so, we didn't have had "stupid kid rappers" running around, because I'm in the middle of country country (Montana isn't that far away). Not that that's much better.

At least we're beyond the era of N*Sync and the Spice Girls. The '80s may have committed many, many crimes against fashion, but '90s have their own sordid acts against music for which they'll have to answer.

I enjoy watching old boy band music videos, because they're hilariously overdramatic.

I see it kind of the same way. I enjoy cooking and doing nice "feminine" things for guys like baking cookies and such, but if they expect and demand it of me just because I'm a woman, they no longer deserve it, because they aren't real men.

Also, speaking of which, you know what else is a horrible fad? All of my friends getting married.

Oh my gosh, I know!
You should watch this, its awesome.

I also loved baking, until my dad wouldn't stop making me bake him cookies.
Eventually he got the idea and started making some for himself... but uhh, yeah. Didn't workout quite so well.

Speaking of which, the whole "carbon footprint" and "going green" thing is really annoying. I mean, environmental responsibility is not a bad idea, but it seems like most products are "going green" just to be in on the fad, and not necessarily because they're changing anything worthwhile. And don't even get me started on all of the "green" conferences where they use up tons of resources to get together and talk about how they can prevent the use of tons of resources.

I said environmental responsibility is a good thing. I just think that a lot of the things companies do to "go green" is counterproductive.

That would make sense if "Going green" didn't actually cost more money to do than not going green.

So the idea that somehow it's a fad used to make money doesn't make sense at all.

Edit: I could post links containing research on both sides of the coin, but in the interests of keeping this thread on topic, I'm not going to debate this with you. I apologize for bringing it up. I'll just say that I think the use of the term "going green" is a fad, and is overused (it was especially overused at my Bible College). Environmental responsibility is not a fad, and I would actually say is one of our duties as Christians.

I made a different thread for the "going green" discussion, since I couldn't find a pre-existing one.

I'll have to go with Deal or No Deal. I can't stand it when my folks turn on that utterly ridiculous "game" show which requires no talent, intelligence, or meaningful input from the contestants.

Though it's just one show, I regard it as a fad; my college put on a copycat game show just last night.
...you must begin a reading program immediately so that you may understand the crises of our age... Begin with the late Romans, including Boethius, of course. Then you should dip rather extensively into early Medieval. You may skip the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. That is mostly dangerous propaganda. Now that I think of it, you had better skip the Romantics and the Victorians too. For the contemporary period, you should study some selected comic books.

Law and Order the tv show is a bad fad. They made waaayyy too many duplicates of that show.

And I suppose they've also made too many CSI's and NCIS's?

There's only two NCIS shows, I thought. Although, from what I've heard, the newer one can't even compete with the first.

Actually, spin-off shows are nothing new. Lots of shows were spin-offs. Heck, didn't All in the Family make, what, three in a row?

Somehow, I knew it was that video before I even clicked on it.

I really liked the original Law and Order, during the Jerry Orbach years. It is so weird to me that he is dead. Like, when I watch Beauty and the Beast, every time I can't help thinking, "Lumier... is dead... so weird!"

I don't like SVU very much because it's just too disturbing for me. I did like Criminal Intent while Vincent D'Onofrio was on it.

The original CSI is awesome, or at least it was for the first few seasons. William Petersen carried that show. I haven't seen very many episodes with Lawrence Fishburne. What I have seen was okay, but I still prefer Grissom. Miami is okay, though David Caruso makes it laughable. New York sucks, despite the fact that it has Gary Sinise.

Have you ever noticed that the one thing all crime shows have in common (with the exception maybe of SVU) is that they all have an awesome old guy?

Y'know, I tried watching an episode of Criminal Intent when it first came out, and thought it was really boring, so I never got into it.

And yeah SVU can be pretty disturbing, admittedly. They can also be really stupid when it comes to computers...but that seems to be true of most TV shows.
