29. Kobayashi Yuu (小林ゆう)

ImageImage

Kobayashi Yuu is one of those seiyuu who doesn't really have a huge role that she's known for, but has played several recognizable supporting characters. Her most notable main roles are probably in recent shows like Mariya in Maria+Holic and Rio in So Ra No Wo To. Her lower voice range means that she's likely to voice characters who fit the strong female character archetype, which her more interesting supporting roles seem to indicate: Baccano's Nice Holystone and Negima's Sakurakazi Setsuna.

She has a voice that's on the deeper end of the spectrum, which lets her voice boys as well. Most recently, she was the main guy in Ookamikakushi, the pretty useless Kuzumi Hiroshi. Her supporting roles as guys is more interesting, both being of the When They Cry variety. Her two roles here are as the missing elder brother who's often mentioned, Hojo Satoashi in Higurashi, and the emotionless young servant who has the One-Winged Eagle, Kanon in Umineko.

I don't think she's an actual singer, but she did sing the OP and ED themes for Maria+Holic. I noticed that it seemed to take her out of her voice range that I was used to hearing. I don't think I would have guessed she was singing Hanaji if I didn't look it up.

She's also well known for her terrible, terrible drawings.

Major Roles
Hiroshi Kuzumi in Ookamikakushi
Kaere/Kaede Kimura in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Kanon in Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Mariya Shidou in Maria+Holic
Rio Kazumiya in So Ra No Wo To
Satoshi Hojo in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Setsuna Sakurazaki in Negima!

You should hear her in the OVA of Letter Bee, her voice is almost unrecognizable.

Oh, she can do creepy. Denpateki na Kanojo is creepy enough, but I'd say that she definitely helped the process as Satsuki.

I guess she was okay in Tegami Bachi as well.

The only one for a while that I recognize is Goto Mai - her work as Mei Chang from FMA: Brotherhood. I thought her voice was a bit too high for the character (who's cute but still tough), but other than that I thought she did an excellent job.

Welp, I guess no one took the chance to say anything, so we forge ahead to

30. Orikasa Fumiko (折笠富美子)

ImageImage

This lady has played a lot of characters. And not just a lot of characters, but a lot of big characters. And not just a lot of big characters, but a lot of big characters with varying personalities. Kuchiki Rukia is a very different character from devil child Matsuoka Miu of Ichigo Mashimaro, who is different from normal and nice kid Okonogi Yuuko of Dennou Coil who is different from dumber than bricks Katagiri Himeko from Pani Poni Dash, who is different from useless love interest Shirley Fenette of Code Geass who looks similar to Nishimura Haru from Xam'd but Haru is way less willing to sit around and do nothing so she goes off to join the military to pilot a mecha, unlike Meyrin Hawke in Gundam Seed Destiny who is mild-mannered and is a bridge bunny and is nowhere near as hardcore as Riza Hawkeye of FMA (the new one).

Major Roles
Bleach (Rukia Kuchiki)
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Shirley Fenette)
Dennou Coil (Yuuko Okonogi)
Digimon Tamers (Ruki Makino)
Ichigo Mashimaro (Matsuoka Miu)
Pani Poni (Himeko Katagiri)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Riza Hawkeye)
Saikano (Chise)
Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Ciel)
Xam'd: Lost Memories (Haru Nishimura)

If Miu wasn't in Ichigo Mashimaro... it would be incredibly boring. Love her or hate her, she makes the show.

^This is true.

I still can't believe that Orikasa Fumiko voiced both Miu and Yasako. Such different personalities! And she's Hawkeye...and that obnoxious girl in Scrapped Princess whose name I can't even remember. I am always impressed by her. She gets two thumbs up from me!

31. Higa Kumiko (比嘉久美子)

?

A few odd roles and the main character of Rockman.EXE.

32. Yamaguchi Yoriko (山口由里子)

Google Image Search fails me again. Anyway, she hasn't had many roles, but there are a few that are fairly important. The first is as Akagi Ritsuko from Evangelion. The next is as Robin Nico in One Piece. And her most famous role is as Nurse Joy in Pokemon.

33. Yukino Satsuki (雪野五月)

ImageImage

Her voice should be fairly recognizable if you've spent any time at all watching anime. Whether it's Kagome in Inuyasha, Yoruichi in Bleach, Kaname in Full Metal Panic, Mion in Higurashi, or Mutsumi in Love Hina, you're likely to have heard her as she's got a number of decently important roles in some very popular anime. I think the different types of characters that I've listed implies that she's not just a one-note actress either.

Major Roles
Bleach (2004) - Yoruichi Shihouin
Clannad (2007, 2008) - Misae Sagara
Full Metal Panic! (2002, 2003, 2005) - Kaname Chidori
Genshiken (2004) - Saki Kasukabe
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (2006, 2007) - Mion Sonozaki and Shion Sonozaki
InuYasha (2000) - Kagome Higurashi
Love Hina (2000, 2002) - Mutsumi Otohime
Pani Poni Dash! (2005) - Rei Tachibana

Well, I haven't recognized anyone in a while, but Yukino Satsuki I do know as Kaname in FMP and Kagome in InuYasha. And, though I'd wondered if they were the same person, I'd never really looked it up to know for sure. That's very cool! She probably had one of the best tsudere "BAKA!" moments I've ever heard in anime before in InuYasha.

I'd hardly call Mandora Boy from Magiranger an "odd role." :l

Well okay it is an odd role.

There you go. Mandora Boy teaches you the Magiranger's spells.

Also by "main character" of Rockman.EXE I wonder if you mean Netto or Rockman.EXE himself.

Yukino Satsuki does an excellent job as Tanabe Ai in Planetes, as well. And good old Kagome...makes me want to go watch InuYasha again. =) She had a very small role in Natsume Yuujinchou, as Natori's servant Hiiragi (I think it was her...someone correct me if I'm giving the wrong seiyuu credit, I'm too lazy to go look it up right now), which was a role I really enjoyed, despite it being so minor. I remember thinking while watching the episode focused on her that I liked her voice a lot.

34. Asano Masumi (浅野真澄)

?

A seiyuu whose major roles lie in shows that I have approximately zero familiarity with.

Major Roles
Risa Harada in D.N.Angel
Najimi Osana in Doujin Work
Hakufu Sonsaku in Ikkitousen
and other stuff

35. Fujimura Ayumi (藤村歩)

It is getting harder and harder to find pictures of acceptable resolution.

Fujiura Ayumi seems to be one of those seiyuu whose careers are really launching within the last few years. She's gotten some decent roles, both as main and supporting characters. Her first pretty huge role was as Kokutou Azaka in Kara no Kyoukai. Her latest huge one is as Mineva Zabi in Gundam Unicorn, who is a pretty important character in the Universal Century timeline.

Her other work lately has included Cecily Campbell in The Sacred Blacksmith, Ayuzawa Misaki in Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, and Chikura Nao in Hatsukoi Limited. I think the variety in her roles (and voices for those roles) has been a bit limited, but I think that's either just a case of what I've been watching or her not having the chance to play any other types of roles.

Major Roles
Hatsukoi Limited as Nao Chikura
Kara no Kyoukai as Azaka Kokutou
Kyouran Kazoku Nikki as Kyouka Midarezaki
Kaichou wa Maid Sama! as Misaki Ayuzawa
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn as Mineva Lao Zabi
The Sacred Blacksmith as Cecily Cambell

36. Tanaka Mayumi (田中真弓)

ImageImage

Here is a rather famous lady. I think I'll let her roles speak for herself.

Major Roles
Dragon Ball (Krillin)
Gaiking Legend of Daiku-Maryu (Tsuwabuki Daiya)
One Piece (Monkey D. Luffy)
Pokémon (Jynx)
Sakura Taisen (Kirishima Kanna)
Urusei Yatsura (Ryuunosuke Fujinami)
YuYu Hakusho (Koenma)
Castle in the Sky (Pazu)

Looks like today will be newcomer's day. No pictures.

37. Tsuji Ayumi (辻あゆみ)

It looks like the biggest role she's had is a character from Chaos;Head. Beyond that, she's either been a really small character in larger shows or the reverse. But, she gets a shoutout from me for being Guchuko, the best character in Potemayo.

Major Roles
Chaos;HEAd (TV) as Kozue Orihara
Potemayo (TV) as Guchuko
Red Garden (TV) as Rose Sheedy
Sky Girls (TV) as Elise von Dietrich
Best Student Council (TV) as Minamo Katsura

38. Shindou Kei (真堂圭)

Her largest roles have been Anzu from Hanamaru Kindergarten, Wang Liu Mei from Gundam 00, and Kagami Kuro from Kodomo no Jikan. Not exactly an extensive credits list, but she's got time to build up.

Major Roles
Ikkitousen as Ryuubi Gentoku
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 as Wang Liu Mei
Kodomo no Jikan as Kuro Kagami
Omamori Himari as Shizuku
Hanamaru Kindergarten as Anzu

39. Tsukui Kyousei (津久井教生)

I think he does seiyuu work on the side, because his list of tokusatsu roles look more interesting than his voice acting roles.

Major Roles
Detective Kun-kun in Rozen Maiden
Takuma Sotoma in GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class
Straight Cougar in s-CRY-ed

40. Tokunaga Ai (徳永愛)

Basically nothing of note.

41. Asami Imai (今井麻美)

Really new seiyuu, has roles things like Shukufuku no Campanella and Koihime Musou. Yeah.

I promise tomorrow will be more interesting.

I'm familiar with one of Shindou Kei's roles! But uh...I refuse to say which one. >.>

Tsukui Kyousei's toku acting credits aren't actually particularly interesting. In most of the Super Sentai series, he was playing a monster-of-the-week, so it was a one episode role. However, that changed in Go-Onger, when he played the sixth Engine, Carrigator:

Tonight, we have two people who have played characters far more popular than themselves.

42. Shimoda Asami (下田麻美)

ImageImage

Shimoda Asami has a very low number of roles. Her biggest roles have been in things like B Gata H Kei or iDOLM@STER. However, she does have one claim to fame, which lies outside of anime. As pictured above, she is the voice of the Vocaloid twins Len and Rin Kagamine. I'll say that between KAITO, Gackpoid, and Len, Len is my favourite male Vocaloid voice. We really need a new male Vocaloid for lower range stuff.

Major Roles
B Gata H Kei (TV) as Chika Yamada
Bungaku Shōjo (movie) as Kurara Mori
iDOLM@STER: Live For You! (OAV) as Ami Futami; Mami Futami
Kyo no Gononi (TV) as Chika Koizumi
Seitokai Yakuindomo (TV) as Kotomi Tsuda
Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity- (TV) as Ameri Kawai
Rin/Len Kagamine in "VOCALOID2"

43. Fujita Saki (藤田咲)

ImageImage

Fujita Saki is a lot like Shimoda Asami, except that she's had a few more roles that are a bit larger, but not by much. Again, her biggest achievement thus far is being the voice behind Hatsune Miku, who is probably the most important Vocaloid in terms of pushing the technology and driving the community. My favourite role of hers is still Momoha in Manabi Straight and her voice isn't ridiculously high like Miku's. Also of note is that she plays an idol in Durarara!! and has about ten seconds of screentime, but plays a much more interesting role in the light novels later on.

Major Roles
Durarara!! (TV) as Ruri Hijiribe
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! (OAV) as Momoha Odori
Ookamikakushi (TV) as Mana Kuzumi
Senkou no Night Raid (TV) as Fuuran
Working!! (TV) as Mahiru Inami
Yozakura Quartet (TV) as Ao Nanami
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei (TV) as Hatsune Miku
Crypton VOCALOID2 (Hatsune Miku)

I guess the only one I recognize is Orikasa Fumiko, from FMA: Brotherhood. I was really unsure of her Hawkeye voice, because Michiko Neya is Hawkeye for me (I love her mingled gentleness and firmness when she does Hawkeye), but after a while Fumiko grew on me. I still prefer Neya, but the second Hawkeye is good too.

44. Sasaki Nozomi (ささきのぞみ)

For whatever reason, she decided to use all hiragana as her name. She doesn't have too many important roles. Her biggest roles were as the main characters of Jewelpet and Bokura ga Ita. You're more likely to know her as Patricia Martin from Lucky Star.

Major Roles
Jewelpet as Sapphire
Bokura ga Ita as Nanami Takahashi
Lucky Star as Patricia "Patty" Martin
Toaru Majutsu no Index as MISAKA
Shiki as Kunihiro Ritsuko

45. Gotou Saori (後藤沙緒里)

A bunch of supporting roles for various shows. Her roles in the more popular shows include Kaga Ai in Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei and Inko-chan in Toradora. Not particularly impressive roles.

46. Mizuhara Kaori (水橋かおり)

Mizuhashi Kaori's voice type lends itself to more energetic and possibly tomboyish girls, which also wanders into the zone of boys as well. Her most well-known role is probably as Hidamari Sketch's Miyako, the first (now second) year who resides in room 202. She's played other genki-girls, like Akane in the 2003 adaptation of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and, more recently, as Shimada Minami in last year's Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu. And her most notable role as a boy? That'd be Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha's magical ferret/librarian, Yuuno Scrya.

Major Roles
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (Minami Shimada)
Futakoi (Sara Shirogane)
Genshiken (Chika Ogiue)
Hidamari Sketch (Miyako)
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (Akane Suzumiya)
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (Yuuno Scrya)
Rockman.EXE (Sakurai Meiru)

These three should be a bit higher on the recognizability than the last three (other than Mizuhara Kaori, I guess), also more Kaori.

47. Nazuka Kaori (名塚佳織)

If no one here recognizes her roles, then everyone here might have skipped over some very good anime. Nazuka Kaori plays soft-spoken females, many of whom you should recognize. She doesn't really have any other kinds of roles. Her characters' voices are generally the same tone, but their personality will vary a bit. Generally, her characters project a sort of strength that covers up their inner doubts and struggles. She still gets a decent number of roles, although a lot of her more famous ones happened a few years ago.

Major Roles
.hack//SIGN (Subaru)
Now and Then, Here and There (Lala-Ru)
Eureka Seven (Eureka)
Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion (Nunnally Lamperouge)
Soul Eater (Tsubaki Nakatsukasa)
True Tears (Hiromi Yuasa)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Maria Ross)
GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class (Miyabi Oomichi)
Amagami SS (Tsukasa Ayatsuji)

48. Fukuhara Kaori (福原香織)

Unlike the rest of her Lucky Star co-stars, the voice of Hiiragi Tsukasa did not get swamped in a billion roles. Her CV list remains quite short, with Saki's Amae Koromo being the only other popular role that she's done.

49. Shimizu Kaori (清水香里)

Shimizu Kaori is known for a number of roles and has played a variety of characters with different voice types and characters. Her big roles are Lain from Serial Experiments Lain (a younger, shy girl), Hiyori Tamura of Lucky Star (a crazy doujin artist), and Signum from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (a stoic knight). Her most famous role is still probably Lain, although her later roles do vary in terms of notoriety.

Major Roles
Boogiepop Phantom, Touka Miyashita
Lucky Star, Hiyori Tamura
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, Signum
Maria-sama ga Miteru, Noriko Nijo
School Rumble, Akira Takano
Serial Experiments Lain, Lain Iwakura

I’ve actually heard some of these roles—too long ago for me to actually remember what the voice acting was like, though.

Also, that’s a lot of Kaoris, and each one of them spells her name differently . . . but I guess that's not of much interest to anyone else.

50. Inoue Marina (井上麻里奈)

ImageImage

Inoue Marina is on the list of notable but not superstar seiyuu. She got her start by landing the role of Cossette in Le Petit Portrait de Cossette at an audition. She's been in several huge roles and continues to show up regularly in newer shows.

Her voice is on the lower range, so she isn't exactly a prime pick for cute roles. She does tend to voice a fair number of male roles (Erio in Nanoha StrikerS, Koutarou in Negima, Wataru in Hayate the Combat Butler are all pretty big supporting characters) and the female roles she does are of the more confident and spunky archetype. These are characters like Yoko from Gurren Lagann, Kana from Minami-ke, and Jessica from Umineko.

Her most recent big roles have been in Highschool of the Dead, Skip Beat, and Valkyria Chronicles. And besides her typical roles, she's played some pretty great characters, like Matsurika, the deadpan maid from Maria+Holic. Much like Maaya Sakamoto, I really like her voice, so maybe I really like female voices that are lower (I kind of like Kobayashi Yuu's voice too).

I am Boss!
Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

神はそのひとり子を賜わったほどに、この世を愛して下さった。それは御子を信じる者がひとりも滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである.

I heard Nazuka Kaori in FMA: Brotherhood, and thought her voice was too high for Maria Ross :/
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

"There's a difference between maliciously offending somebody - on purpose - and somebody being offended by...truth. If you're offended by the truth, that's your problem. I have no obligation to not offend you if I'm speaking the truth. The truth is supposed to offend you; that's how you know you don't got it."

51. Kamiya Hiroshi

Kamiya Hiroshi is the man. He's the first male seiyuu on our long journey who has enormous popularity and star power. His career is a longer one, which stretches back to 1994. It wasn't until 2005 when he got the role as Takemoto Yuuta in Honey and Clover and everything took off. He has since acquired a large number of high-profile roles.

The guy can act. He's voiced a large number of different roles and starred in a fair number of shows, especially in the last two or three years. His softer roles, like in Honey and Clover and Natsume Yuujinchou, are pretty fantastic and I wish he'd do more of those. The other roles that he's done that I'd like to see more of are his serious roles like in Gundam 00 and Break Blade. He seems to be the choice for Shaft's comedy male leads, having starred in Tsukuyomi, SZS, Bakemonogatari, and Arakawa Under the Bridge. He's done quieter characters, loudmouths, comedy guys, super serious roles, protagonists, villains, side characters, leading stars, and weird cat deities who live inside vending machines. I think he's one of those who can be comfortably dropped into pretty much any role.

You may have noticed that he's absent in Honey and Clover II episode 12 (in the TV version at least). That would be because he was involved in a traffic accident in 2006 and was in a coma for a few days. Evidently, he recovered and continued to voice a bajillion roles. Given his popularity and his work, he'll be voicing a bajillion more roles for quite some time.

Major Roles
Digimon Frontier as Koji Minamoto
Tsukuyomi -Moon Phase- as Kohei Morioka
Honey and Clover as Yuuta Takemoto
Fate/stay night as Shinji Matou
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 as Tieria Erde
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei as Nozomu Itoshiki
Macross Frontier as Michael Blanc
Natsume Yujinchou as Takashi Natsume
Bakemonogatari as Koyomi Arararararararagi
Durarara!! as Izaya Orihara
Working!! as Hiroomi Souma
Angel Beats! as Yuzuru Otonashi
Arakawa Under the Bridge as Kou Ichinomiya
Break Blade as Zess

Dude, this guy has three roles I've heard him as. That's pretty cool.

Arararararararagi-kun is great, as is Izaya. Yuuta is pretty cool too from what I've seen, though I'm only a third of the way through Honey and Clover
