Tribute Thread to English Dub Voice Actors.

I think, although I LOVE his voice, and have the potential to be like a puddle of melted butter when I hear it, (not really) I think my absolute favorite roles from him are:

1. Hagi- Blood+ mmm I just love how he is so loyal to Saya, he'd probably die for her, and nearly does...IN EVERY EPISODE. Hagi didn't talk a lot throughout the series, but when he did, he had a lot of context to say, and Crispin played that wonderfully...

2. Holland- Eureka 7
is a huge contrast to Hagi, Holland is LOUD, RUDE, walks around in his boxers, and is a whole different kind of tough. Lol He's a leader, not a follower, and can be pretty funny at times. Crispin played him really well, and was even able to touch on the heart that Holland sometimes broke down his wall to show.

Runners up:
Tsume- Wolf's Rain, Kyon- Haruhi Suzumiya, Straight Cougar- S-CRY-ed, he was hilarious as that guy.

I didn't realize how much I like Stephanie Sheh's voice work until I saw her credits on a TV Tropes page. Here's my faves:

Don't forget Mikuru Asahina from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, who is basically a melding of Hinata and Orihime. I've met her twice, she's about a foot and a half shorter than me.

2001 Streamline dub of "Akira".

The Streamline dub was from 1990. Geneon did the 2001 re-dub that featured JYB. He would have been 14 years old in 1990, so I think it's safe to say he wasn't in the Streamline dub =).

the job he did with Renton in Eureka Seven will be my favorite for quite a while.

See, I was not a huge fan of this one. For me, Vash TS is still his best effort to date, though I haven't seen a ton of "modern" dubs.

Like with JYB, I love all her work, even in series I don't like.

See, I was not a huge fan of this one. For me, Vash TS is still his best effort to date, though I haven't seen a ton of "modern" dubs.

At first, I was going to say that he admittedly was annoying at first, but I'd call that in character. Since the whole show was about Renton and Eureka maturing, starting out as a whiny, high-pitched 14-year old into a young man who becomes less annoying.

From the tiny bit of Trigun I've seen dubbed, he was pretty impressive, but I couldn't really stand any of the other voices, so I went to subs(and then grew morals and stopped watching stuff illegally.

Anyway, it's a tie for me between Tsume [Wolf's Rain] and Togusa [GitS]...but I'd have to go with the latter, because he really did an exceptional job of being 'daddy' and carrying the emotional touchstone, the "human" part of Section 9.

I heartily expect his upcoming performance as Shizuo Heiwajima [Durarara!!] to be one of my favorites as well.

Totally agree. He does have a bit of the Steve Blum about him in that he essentially sounds the same in every role (that I've heard).

I posted Kiba and Koizumi because they don't sound the same to the same extent, although you can still recognize his voice. I guess it's also harder when the characters seem to be closer together in age like Renton and Claus appear to be.

Straight Cougar! from S-Cry-Ed!!!! & Amon from Witch Hunter Robin. [where I first fell in love with his acting skills]
What a contrast of characters though! lol.
He's a great voice actor though, I can't imagine him doing a character terribly.
He was great as Tsume as well, so for that show he's third best.

And so far, that's the only shows I've noticed his voice.

Anyway, Rocklobster, thank you for clarifying how his name is pronounced. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I only learned how to pronounce that surname 2 years ago during my Internship and I've lived in LA all my life. My favorite role he's played was Ken-Goh in "Eureka Seven" and Jiguro in "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit".[/color][/SIZE][/font]
