A couple requests

Postby Adie » Fri Aug 06, 2010 1:34 pm

First off: I am so sorry that I haven't been on in... over a month. >_<; Life has been crazy.

Um, I'd like to ask for prayer for a family member. She's 16, and she and her boyfriend want to get married this fall. I guess they did research online, and it's perfectly legal to get married at 16...? I don't know. Anyway, they have good motives (wanting to honor God with their relationship, etc.), and they're doing their best to take care of the practical things (like how they're going to support themselves financially), but... I still kinda think they're too young. ^^; And I'm a bit worried. Please pray that if they do get married, they'll be able to deal with their problems and keep their relationship afloat.

Also, my best friend's mom and my pastor have both been having weird health problems for a while with no diagnosis. My friend's mom has frequent physical pain, and my pastor has a number of bad symptoms -- dizziness, blindness in one eye, numbness, etc. Please pray for them as well.

Thanks~

I'll be praying ^^

Age doesn't have anything to do with it, but at the same time, they do seem a bit young to even think about getting hitched o.o; How long have they known one another? It's tricky because is it because they really do feel they are meant to be? Or, is it that they don't want to dishonor God with going any further with their relationship by taking it further out of wedlock?

I'm not sure if that made sense o.o;;

If it's Gods will I hope they gt married but it does seem young >.<. I hope they know for sure that they are right for each other before they get married. Hope it works out! :)

Praying- but they'll have to double-check about the legality with the city when they register for a license. The normal case is that they can marry, but only with permission from their legal guardians. They shouldn't plan the wedding until they've checked with the people who give the licenses.

Also praying about the health problems!

You can get married as young as 14 in some states (with parental permission of course). The legal marrying age varies depending on state. Pretty much every state requires parental consent if you're under 18 (unless the female is pregnant, and even then it requires court approval in some places).

Anyway, yeah. Will pray for your requests.

Thank you all for your prayers~ I'm trying hard to be more optimistic about it, it's just that I can see it going downhill very fast and I don't want them to feel like they regret this decision later.

They've known each other for about a year, and have been dating since early spring.

It's... kind of a mix of both. I mean, they do feel like they're "meant to be," but the main reason they want to get married is because they're feeling convicted that they've been somewhat physically involved, and they want to do the right thing by waiting until they're married to go any further. My family member has had similar problems with other boys in the past, but I think she's seeing people around her getting married and thinking that it's the best solution to the problem.

Oh wow, I didn't know it could go as young as 14. Thanks for the link.

Um, hi again!

I have an update of sorts. My family member and her boyfriend have decided to wait until next spring to get married. After talking a lot with my mom and older sister, they've taken some time to re-evaluate things, and they're trying really, really hard to be as prepared as they can -- not just financially, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

And, well, yeah. It seems like they're doing much better, and seeking God's will about this whole thing a lot more than they were at first. Now it's more "okay, let's take our time and see if this is really what God wants us to do" than "hey, let's get married as soon as possible!" And I'm feeling more positive about it too. So thank you all for your prayers~ If you could keep praying that they would be able to resist temptation (they said that they've been struggling with this a lot recently) and keep striving to put God at the center of their relationship, that would be awesome. :) Thanks!

Hi Adie,

Said a prayer for the young couple (Which I've been there so I'm glad they are seeking God's wisdom on it).

Also in regards to the pastor and his wife, will be praying on this as well. I am in a similar situation with chronic pain among other symptoms and currently have no diagnosis despite seeing many specialist. I pray they will keep encouragement and strength through this. It can definitely be a hard time emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Thank you for keeping us updated! :)
