Anybody here live in Japan?

And if so, do you live in anywhere near the Tochigi prefecture?

I know it's a long shot, but I'd love to find people to hang out with. I just moved here about a month ago, and although Zelly is here with me for the summer, she's leaving soon, which makes me INCREDIBLY SAD. :shake:

Yeah, I TOTES just name-dropped PrincessZelda.

But anyway, I'm here as a missionary teaching English about two hours north of Tokyo. It's pretty sweet, but I'm out in the country where people aren't used to seeing not-Japanese people, so I get a lot of funny looks.

Although I'm not there yet, I hope to do the exact same thing, Vintage.

Right, now I'm college training to be a missionary/English teacher in Japan. Hopefully I can go on a mission trip there next summer.

If that runs well, I hope to land a job there in the upcoming years.

So hopefully I'll be able to join you!

Nice! If you don't mind my asking, where are you going to school? I went to Ozark Christian College, but I got my degree in psychology, not missions.

I live in Japan, but nowhere near you; sorry.

What kind of school are you teaching at? Since you're a missionary, is it some sort of missions school or international school? I'm curious because I know there are only two accredited Christian schools in Japan, but there are various other little Christian schools scattered around here and there.

How long do you expect to stay and teach in Japan, if you don't mind my asking?

Yeah, I'm at Mid-Atlantic Christian University(Previously Roanoke Bible College.) and I have a double major of Cross-Cultural Ministry and Counseling/Psychology and I'm going to get a TESOL certificate.

I'm actually teaching with a church that has an English ministry.

I'm sticking around until March 2012. How long have you been in Japan?

Interesting. You'll be in Japan for nearly two years, then? That's a decent length of time; it will give you time to get settled into the place before leaving. Naturally, the second year will be more comfortable than the first.

I've been here for three years already, going on a fourth.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I don't know what I'll do after.

So are you fluent yet? I want so badly to be fluent.
