I JUST saw this right before I saw your thread, Roy, and I am stoked.! I've met Darrel Guilbeau and I'm sure he will be awesome as Mikado.
Kari Wahlgren is an interesting choice, but I can imagine her as a good Celty.
Also, Crispin Freeman as Shizuo makes me smile. :3

Though, from the article on ANN (here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-07-30/aniplex-announces-part-of-durarara-english-dub-cast) this part makes me a bit disappointed:

Aniplex added that it will not be using the English Baccano! voice actors for the same characters in Durarara!!.

Which is not terrible, but oh well. ^_^;

I've never heard Darrel Guilbeau before, so I'm not sure how he'll do with my favorite character. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Crispin Freeman at first, but now that I think about it I think he's probably the best choice. Kari Wahlgren, while none of the roles she's had(that I've heard) really seem to fit Celty, they're diverse enough that I have confidence in her ability to do this.

But he is in A LOT of stuff...and because he is in a lot of stuff, that means that fans like him...and if fans like him...guess what?

I am beginning to think I am the only one who is NOT a fan of Johnny Young Bosch....so I am hesitant about him playing Izaya, who I love. Having difficulty seeing it...but Crispin Freeman as Shizuou is perfect-o.

Ehh...I wouldn't do that. xD It might destroy any bit of hope you have. I don't remember who Papenbrook did in VK, I just know the dub as overall was pretty embarrassing. ANN summed it up nicely: "The English cast is too professional to actually sound embarrassed when speaking, but they're obviously aware of how silly it all looks and sounds from the outside and it affects their performances."

Maybe it's just because I've rewatched the Japanese Durarara!! almost twice/some eps multiple times but...the English dub is terrible based on the promo. It's so...so...FLAT! And Mikado sounds super super super wimpy. When before I thought he just sounded shy, but in this more wimpy.

Hey guys they just announced the dub cast of Recent Popular Anime. Brad Swaile as Whiny Young Main Character, Steven Blum as Cool Masked Guy, and Johnny Young Bosch as Everyone Else. Man, I don't wanna miss this one!

Whoever voiced that blonde guy SUCKS. Okay, it's not so much that the guy voicing him sucks...he's an okay voice actor but what I'm saying is that that kind of voice for that guy sucks. Worst casting EVER.

Personally, ever since the awfulness that was the Bleach dub, I haven't been able to really like Johnny Yong Bosch. It's not that I think he's bad or anything; I just hated the dub so much that everyone involved with it was tainted in my eyes.

He did a decent job with Wolf's Rain, though. Anyway, at least I agree that Crispin Freeman is good casting.

Not that I'll be watching the dub, though. I usually hate dubs.

They're only mildly related though, for instance, it never comes up in the series but Celty from Durarara!! was once friends with Ronnie from Baccano!, and in one of the later light novels a character is mentioned as looking like the descendant of two Baccano! characters(and a character himself(or her, I can't remember), but not in the anime).
