Good luck with that! One thing that I will advise you guys to have is discernment. If there is a panel that sounds like it could have bad things(Sex, language, or whatever), then don't go to it. You may like to think that these conventions are all there for a good time, but so many people there are to party it out and such. Please listen, because once you're in a panel, it is usually hard to leave it easily(This all depends on where you're seated.). If you're unsure about a panel, but are really curious about it, simply sit in the back to where the door is. Then you can simply walk out if the panel is bad and proceed to another panel or whatever you want to do(Believe me, there's tons to do at these things.).

Watch out for people that are in the con. Sure nothing may happen, but you never know.

About you're friends, are they familiar to anime and things Japanese? If not, they may have trouble relating to what goes on(I say this because I brought a friend who saw a little anime, but was still lost at points.). In this case, it would be nice if you took them to stuff they'd enjoy as well. But if they do enjoy anime, then they're sure to like it.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great time!

^ The thing is, you're almost guaranteed to hear some language (usually said out of habit) on a few of the panels. So don't take it too seriously. There are obvious panels where it won't happen (Lolita panels), and there are ones where it's obvious what the content will be (yuri and yaoi panels). But any others... you're gonna miss nearly everything of you bolt at the first word. Most people are very decent, though, and realize what they've said and apologise.

I think there's a thread in the General section about common-sense safety and tips. Have fun!

The thing is about that if she and her friends are strong enough spiritually to be in the panel without the language affecting them, then they can go to it. But if it has a serious problem on any of them, then either way it's best not to be at that panel.

I've been to many panels and I know what I mean. I've stayed through a panel(Because it was extremely funny) with more F and S words you can shake a stick at. We stayed in that panel for a while, but then just decided that the panel was getting increasingly bad as it went along.

Many late night panels have this characteristic, so don't be surprised.

I'll be praying, Airichan. ^_^ Have tons of fun.

ADXC, I understand your concern, but you seem to be implying something that I'm not sure if you mean to or not. I'm quite sure Airi knows what her limits are and is not limited in her spiritual strength or common sense. God will be with her and her friends.
Like Atria said, for many (even some christians), bad language is a habit and they don't often mean anything personal by it. God still loves them too.
I have been to many cons, ADXC and I do know what you mean about having to leave a panel half way through. My only concern is that you seem to be treating Airi like a little kid; she is not. I'm sure she's knows when to leave someplace if she feels uncomfortable. Cons are not so shocking that they make a person who already has a level head forget their common sense.
I'm not trying to be harsh and I know you care about her safety (I do as well), but you don't need to lecture on the nature of cons. Airichan asked for prayer, so we can give it to her.

i agree with goldenspines. i'm sure airi will know how to and when to leave, her being 17 and all she probably goes to high school, and so she probably heard more cussing there than she will hear anywhere else. XD i'll be praying for you.

Actually its my thread from a long time ago.... XD

Thank you. I'm actually from a Christian school, so while I'm not used to bad language, I'm not hurt by it. I'm @ the con right now- so far, even the hetalia panel was mostly yaoi free- and the code geass photoshoot too [except for one f bomb a Suzaku] . And I appreciate your note about my maturity. My group is with two anime-loving Christian school kids, so I'm trying to be a little bit of a leader. And the safety issue, for the most part its been quite safe. Some things I'd rather not have seen, but other than that yeah.

btw: I did not bring my younger sis (Tamachan in the CAA) , because i wanted to check it out before i took her.

Thx for the prayer you guys!

Geez you guys are so quick to infer stuff so quickly. This is her first con(If she had been to be previous ones, I wouldn't have said anything.), I'm just saying that she ought to be careful.

@ goldenspines-You really do not know what I meant by leaving a panel half-way through? It was a funny panel, but it had a lot of bad content. I had brought a friend along and he was finding that the further the panel went on, the more racy it got. So we just left. I don't know what's hard to understand.

I am not treating her like a child! I never implied this. I was just saying that she needs to be careful and use the knowledge she's gained over the years to just avoid sin.

If you think that I'm treating her like a child, then I'm treating myself like a child. Because I always have problems at cons and it takes me to go back to God to clear up my mind. I'm just being honest, that's all.

@Airichan: Yay, I'm glad your having fun. I hope the rest of the con will be just as great for you and your friends. ^_^

To clarify, please read my post again, I DO understand leaving a panel halfway through. I've done it multiple times in fact (whether it was actually bad, or it was just boring).

Man, all I do is offer advice, and I get trampled on.

Calm down, please. I wasn't trying to discourage your good intentions towards Airi and her friends (on the contrary). If that was what you got from my post, I encourage you to read it again and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

My comments addressed you lecturing Airi about your experiences with conventions like she's a small child who knows nothing about the world, rather than encouraging her to trust God. This is the prayer thread after all. If you wanted to give her advice and share your con experiences or mishaps, she did make the common sense for cons thread for that purpose.
I just felt that a lecture is uncalled for in a prayer thread.

Yes well either way, I'm glad that I said what I wanted to say because I sure do wish someone would have told me this stuff before I went to my first con. If someone would have said it in my prayer thread, I would have loved the advice.

I think that right now, this is a mixture of what's being said as well as the tone of your posts. That level of sarcasm is completely unnecessary; please tone it down.

Ok, it's just that I have always been called out for when I do something unwanted and I never get thanked for whatever I do is right.

I just feel unappreciated, that's all.
