Dude, I had no idea about that, but I am certainly glad to hear it. XD I have a feeling that Crocs started out the same way. They were probably meant to be like, gardening shoes or something (which would be good, since they're both "comfortable" and made entirely of rubber, so if they get dirty, you could hose them down), until somebody decided to wear them in public. XD

crocs were meant for boating I think, most likely why everyone where I live still wears them XD They are useful when I go rowing but thats the ONLY time I'll wear them lol

I never knew that about Crocs, interesting. Some of my friends swear by them but I've never stepped foot in a pair.
Unfortunately many people in Australia (cough - girls/young women) now also wear Ugg boots in public, typically with a short, pleated skirt and hoodie! Um? Yes. Height of fashion ladies!

@ Warrior-That fashion design sounds like it would be perfect for some under-budget teen romance movie filled with as much angst as there is water in the Atlantic. XD

Sounds good mate! With typewriters and coffee-stained letters, and lots of miserable teenagers. Maybe Michael Cera could be the love-interest. Yeah! Or not.

I know that a lot of accessories aren't meant to be useful, just pretty. But aren't those shutter glasses just taking it too far when it comes to being useless?

(I probably shouldn't have mentioned skinny jeans in a way that sounded like I was bashing them... Some people look fine wearing them, my friends wear them, but you see them everywhere, so I just threw that in there.)

Also, when I had longer hair, I had stripes. They weren't placed where they looked like something died on my head, but I had some.

Also, I was meaning to mention shutter glasses, but I had NO IDEA what they were called... when I saw them in a store once, I kind of thought they were a joke.

(A bit of a trivial side note: I wonder how much of that is her actual hair... I can't even get mine to spike. :o)

What's the purpose of shutter glasses anyway? I mean they don't even seem to work as well as regular sunglasses do.

I really don't understand the whole wearing fur lined boots with shorts, or other summer attire. It makes no sense!! @_@

Exactly Princess Zelda. They were designed sometime before World War 1 to be worn by pilots, so their feet wouldn't freeze at high-altitudes. Then in the 1920's, they were worn by stock farmers in the colder parts of Australia and New Zealand. Now, they're a summer fashion accessory. Proof that humans can sometimes be very stupid.

It'd be just better getting sunglasses. Do you really want lines in your eyesight? I'd rather it be dimmer than there be an obstruction to my viewing experience.

That sounded weird, but you get my point.

I don't know why girls want to wear heavy boots in the summertime. Their feet must smell really terrible at the end of the day. Also I question anyone who wears boots with shorty shorts.

Also...shutter glasses? More like shudder glasses amirite?

I remember seeing someone walk around campus last semester wearing shutter glasses. I thought they were purposely trying to look ridiculous. Then I slowly noticed more and more people wearing them wherever I went.

Can you really even see out of those?

Hm, I would say the medical field takes the cake. I can't really decide between the Transorbital Lobotomy (performed through the eye socket with ice picks), or good old fashioned Trepanning, though. Both make blood letting and leeches seem quaint by comparison.

I actually wear heavy boots year round, not that I don't also wear other kinds of shoes; it's because I like heavy boots, but don't like sandals and will only wear them when neccessary. And my feet probably do smell terrible right now.
On the other hand, tennis shoes can also make your feet stink.

I'm willing to accept dudes wearing low-rise skinny jeans so long as cute girls keep wearing them. It's a sacrifice I don't mind making!

I'd just like to say that crocs are great for the beach or stepping out of the house for a few minutes but, I can't believe that someone would wear them all day, that's just ridiculous.

Ka-ponk. They they charge you $20 for a cup and ping-pong ball. All you do is make trick shots with the ping pong ball.

You could buy a cup and several ping-pong balls for like one quarter of the price they're asking for.

Also, nearly all of these fads are still alive in Japan. Even powdered wigs.
