Looks like they have married all of the other Zelda styles together. Anyone remember the first poster they put out? With the unknown character that shares the same defining shapes as the master sword? My bet is that the wii motion/swordplay mechanics will be a selling point of this game.

What kind of expectations do you people have for this game?

If the game isn't ridiculously easy(or if it at least has multiple difficulty settings), then I'll be satisfied. Everything I saw in the trailer looked pretty good, though.

The game certainly looks nice. Unfortunately, after the recent entries in the series I won't be getting excited for this until I hear about it's difficulty. Is asking for multiple difficulty settings really asking for too much?

I like the looks of this! This might be the first great Z...

Wait it's for Wii isn't it? CRAP. Well, never mind. Guess I'll be skipping this one too unless I hear "Gamecube/Classic controller compatible."

I'm a LoZ fan, and I'm dying for this to come out in 2011! I hope the Wii motion thing isn't, as my brother would say, 'screwball'. That would really stink. Here's hoping the game's as good as Twilight Princess, at least. I'm psyched! :)

I have a hard time believing this Zelda game's controls will be as good as the No More Heroes games...but maybe I'll be proved wrong.

This.

I might actually buy a Wii if The Skyward Sword is GC controller compatible. XD

Looks good, though. The graphics and game elements look like they are going back to their OOT and MM roots. ^_^

It is a pity that they pulled the graphics back to the cartoonish/Mario style (and after baiting us with that concept art!), but I guess it was inevitable that they change things up after such a dark-themed Zelda game.

Other than that, it looks fairly interesting, though I think the controls are going to be what makes or breaks the game. At the E3 demo, they looked pretty darn awful; even Miyamoto couldn't make them work. They have a year to work on it, they had better get started ASAP.

I'm just hoping that they will really utilize the WiiMotionPlus mechanics throughout the gameplay... As if using a special peripheral often would really harm Nintendo.

This looks really cool, and I love the style they used. At the same time, I'm hoping it's not JUST a rehash of everything they've done before, though it does look like there are some cool, new items available! Also it looks like Link will be 100% human in this game, which is awesome. XD

Also should I be surprised that they've given Link pants? Because they gave him pants! I don't understand why I feel so surprised by this. XDD

He had pants before! Maybe they just weren't as noticeable?

If they're going to have a hero jumping and rolling around, I should hope he'd be wearing pants...XD

XDD That's what I always thought! But he's usually wearing tights:

or no pants at all:

I didn't play Twilight Princess, so he may have had pants in that one. XD I just found it a lot more noticeable this time around! XD

Holy. Frick. Picky people are picky. Lighten up! The controls, even if they aren't to your perfect liking, are not that bad! Calm down and enjoy a good game! Get over a little bit of annoyance if you have to! You'll forget it while you play.

I'm gonna have to agree with Nate on this, not quite so vehemently, but yes, in my experience motion-based controls are vague, clunky, and tiring over a long game session, however I have not gotten to try out the 'Wii motion plus' add-on so, it may actually work well now...

If I remember, people considered Majora's Mask to be a pretty dark game, even with its graphics. This new game, to me, looks like Twilight Princess meets Wind Waker. Although Twilight Princess' graphics did fit the feel of the game, I personally didn't like them.

Sounds like Okami. Fighting techniques are supposed to be much better on the PS2, while basic melee attacks on the Wii consist of swinging the Wiimote around.

Also, I'm really excited about this, I really hope it turns out well. I might have to buy a Wii now! XD

Nope, this is pretty much a first for him. He's worn leggings, he's worn tights, and he's gone bare but never really had pants before, unless they were uber tight.

Eh, my favorite entry in the series was cartoony, so I was perfectly OK with this. It also had one of the darkest ends in the series, in a way. Looking at the screens, it appears that it is less that they changed the entire style so much as they changed the way the TP models were colored.

My only complaint is that the motion controls (which I like) for some reason force Link to be right-handed. Boo. Yet for some odd reason he shoots the Bow and Slingshot with his left hand. Color me disappointed with that preview.

It also seemed odd that Link was mostly real-looking but partly cartoonish, the environment was half-cartoon and half-real, and the monsters were all cartoon. It's like Miyamoto directed the team to please all of the Zelda fans completely at the same time, and we all know what happens when developers try to do that...flop!

Well, at any rate, I'm sure the game isn't quite finished yet, but since it is supposed to be released within the year, I am a bit surprised that the game doesn't look very polished yet. I am prepared to be disappointed by a Zelda title for the first time, but I am still optimistic that somehow this concept can be pulled off successfully.

Well, uber tight pants pretty much are leggings. I mean, in terms on the type of time period clothing.... Or whatever.

Which pretty much just reinforces what I said further. lol

Whitefang; Maybe this is just my years of wanting this story building up expectation in me already, but I honestly think the artstyle looks fantastic. There was nothing really all that "realistic" about the art in TP that this is derrived from to begin with, so the fact that they cell-shaded it just makes it look... I don't know, more like it fits. I suspect the art style was supposed to help dictate what the tone of the game would be as well. We may be looking at something more fairy-tale to juxtapose Twilight Princess. Personally, what I've seen looks lovely to me.

I agree with this. I think, more than anything, it just suggests less of a dark story line. It just looks happier and bouncier. Even the colors are more vibrant :)

I think Zelda games would be great even if the graphics were so simple that they were eight-bit sprites and Link switched his sword hand depending on which direction you faced.

I've always disliked Twilight Princess's graphics though. To me they were a step backwards from Wind Waker. Wind Waker was fantastic, a very vibrant world that felt alive. Twilight Princess was dull and ugly, falling into the "Reality is BROWN!" trap that I dislike FPS games for. Even Link's signature green clothes turned into this ugly puke green-brown color in Twilight Princess.

Oddly, in Wind Waker, the overworld was as I said, colorful and full of life and pleasant, whereas the dungeons had excellent atmosphere and were dark and spooky. Twilight Princess managed to pull off the opposite, with an ugly brown overworld that felt empty and lifeless, and dungeons that actually had color and life in them. A Zelda game shouldn't make it feel like a reward or make dungeons feel pleasant, yet that's what TP did, in stark contrast to the other titles.

I probably would have liked TP a lot more if it hadn't been so freaking BROWN.

I wish that there was some option to play with the Gamecube or classic controller. I don't know what it is, but motion controls just seem unnatural to me--especially in action/adventure games like this. I still am not too crazy about the touch screen controls(at least for games of this genre) on the DS either. Why is it that players are not allowed to directly control the actions of their characters anymore?
