Convention schedule for 2010

So remember when I said I wasn't going to be going to Otakon...yeah, that might change. If I do go, and it's still a maybe at this point, I'll only be there for Friday and Saturday...I'll post here again when I've finally figured out what I'm going to do.

ummm....what exactly is an anime convention? I mean, I won't be able to go to any, because the closest on to me is around 7 hours away, but what happens at anime conventions? are they fun?

Anime conventions are basically gatherings of many many anime fans in one place. They also include special guests (such as voice actors, musicians, artists, etc) that come to give talks (called panels), answer questions and overall just hang out and have fun with their fans.
Anime conventions also include many dealers that sell anime merchandise and often times, artists will be able to sell their work there as well.
Usually, there are other fun events (like karaoke, game show type stuff, etc..) and that depends on the con you go to.
There is also a fun thing that goes on called cosplay, which ranges from people just walking around dressed up as anime characters to actually entering competitions and acting out a skit with their cosplay.

Most anime cons are super fun (they've been described as huge parties). But they are especially the most fun if you know people there that you can hang out and be geeky with. :3


Also, side note, I very much doubt anyone is anywhere near where I live. But if anyone is coming to Anime Oasis (which is coming up very soon), you can let me know, if you want.

Uh... maybe? Not? Money is not a issue for me, but I've not been keeping up to date on any anime or manga (except Bleach--for some reason) so I don't know what I'd be doing there except cosplay HEY WAIT A MINUTE.

If you guys wanna hit up the 808 state (uh, that's Hawaii), there's a new convention called "HEXXP" (which is a mixed bag of things: scifi, fantasy, & anime, among other things) that's going on in November. I'll be helping out some friends there
