Fundraising Ideas.

I'm going on a missions trip to Africa this summer and wanted to know if anyone had any good fundraising ideas.

Individual meetings with people you know who are interested in supporting the work you will do in Africa are a great way to start. Build on the relationships you already have.

During the meetings, be focused on the person you're meeting with. Ask them what's going on in their lives. Then, when the time is right, bring up what you will do in Africa. Share about the ministry you are working with (if any) and share about what you will do and how that will make an impact. Ask them if they would be willing to help make that possible. Don't be afraid to ask for a specific amount of money based on what you think they might be willing to give. After you ask, let the silence stand, even if it feels awkward. They might agree to the amount you suggested, give more or less, or tell you that they need to think about it or ask their spouse. During those meetings, ask them if they can put you in touch with anyone who might be willing to support your trip.

Regardless of what happens, get in contact with them a few days later to tell them you had a good time at the meeting, and if they didn't make a decision about giving toward your trip, ask them if they have given it any more thought.

All of the above is based on years of experience and research on the topic of fund raising. Of course there are more ways to raise funds like events, garage sales, etc, but if you choose to go in this direction, it will most likely provide for a good portion of the needs for your trip, if not most or all. If you go there alot, you could make some Youtube video's asking people to donate to the cause.
