If anyone is interested, the University of Kentucky has U-Kon on Feb. 5 and 6. It's small to say the least, but the anime club is there, and the gaming clubs go nuts. Supposedly they have between 100-200 LARPer's show up.

For anyone going to Anime Weekend Atlanta.

Reservations for the Renaissance Waverly Hotel will start Monday, February 1, 2010. So, if you want to get a room at the con site, I would do so, ASAP. Last year, the hotel sold out of their book of rooms within four weeks of the start of reservations.

Hotel link

I plan to go to it and help a staff member as I always do. This looks to be my only con that I will go to for 2010 and will not be able to go to another con until 2012, which I plan to be a staff member at AWA that year.

I am going to go to my first Con ever this year! I will be going to fanime, and if everything goes right I will even have a booth to sell stuff there ^_^

Has anyone here ever gone to any cons in Virginia? I've only been to Anime Mid-Atlantic, and only once, so I don't know a thing about cons or the differences between them.

I've attened Anime USA (Arlington, Virginia). It's a smaller convention but it has a lot to offer in terms of dealers room and guests. It also has a very relaxed vibe unlike larger conventions such as Anime Expo and Otakon. Also, depending on where you are located in VA you may be able to get to Katsucon which is held in Washington D.C.

Last year I went to AnimeNEXT, Otakon, and Connecticon. I would love to go to Otakon and AnimeNEXT again this year, but Connecticon... well, I thought it was pretty terrible...

I might go to AWA....I think my sister and room mate are both going. Might also go to JAMPcon too (here in town). I'd like to cosplay Rai Dei from Trigun, but funds dictate I pull out Mario (like 127 other people.....oh well) if anything. I think my sister and room mate are doing a APH panel for JAMPcon.

Oh, I should get on that.

So, anyone who was planning on going to Katsucon STILL planning on going this weekend? Me and my friends have every intention of braving the snow to get there... but we don't have any common sense.

Anime Expo to host Eden of the East: Kenji Kamiyama, the show's creator and director; Satoru Nakamura, the show's animation director; and Tomohiko Ishii, the show's producer. Paired with the three men, FUNimation will be doing a special screening of the TV series.

Still planning on going to Otakon. I will go as myself, because I dress odd enough to attract attention to suit my ego as it is, and it will save money. XD

Also, since this is last minute, does anyone know of a good cheap place to stay? My friend's going too but she's rooming with a friend that she knows, and I can't stay with her... I know the hotels are booked so D:

Oh, goodie! There's usually a meetup of some sort, and occasionally a few of us end up just hanging out for much of the time. We'll see you.

Could happen. I got a room surprisingly cheap last year (I think it was at the Radisson) and that was under the wire. Like, a couple weeks away. It was an answer to prayer and no mistake.
Also, there's a couple of cheap motels a few minutes out from the city proper, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Also, I've now got my prereg taken care of. But I still haven't done that last accessory in my cosplay. I'm kinda stuck for an idea on how to do it. Well, there's enough time between now and then.

The Tremont Plaza Hotel normally has better rates then other hotels (and almost always has openings even during "con season") in Baltimore (aka Marriott Waterfront ..so beautiful to stay at though! *_*) The Hilton (the one attached to the convention center) is also very nice but it's doubtful rooms at the convention rate will still be available but it is worth a try to check it out! Sometimes you get lucky and there is a cancellation! I hope this helps!

I still need to pre-reg but cannot wait until it is JULY! This year is going to be awesome since h.Naoto and Home Made Kakoku will be there. ^_^

So, now is probably a good time to mention that I won't be at Otakon this year. I'm just going to be too busy with my internship to actually make it this year. Oh well, next year I'll be free...hopefully...
