Greetings compatriots

Postby Alcuinus » Tue Apr 13, 2010 10:21 am

Greetings all. Finally, it is time for me to come out of the shadows and introduce myself. I'm only now posting because I now have some art to show which I will be posting shortly. :) First a little background info...

I had foolishly gotten myself stuck in H anime and was feeling especially wretched one evening when a little thought ran through my head. Why not google "Christian anime"... guess where I ended up. :P

Well, long story short, I hate/despise/resent/abhor H anime but I find myself very fascinated with anime as a style. Thus, I came to a conclusion: I want to draw anime that doesn't violate my conscience and for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God... if that's possible... I'm still a bit confused as to how to use my talents for glorifying God. :P

As a final note, I am a reformed baptist and I'm a pan-millennialist (in the loosest sense of that word :P)... but I'll try not to get into any ugly debates ;)

So I got a question.
What do you think of the dilemma that youths these days face in regards to postmodernism versus objective (ie., absolute) truth?

Hey! Welcome to CAA. What you're trying to do sounds pretty cool- in the meanwhile, know that the lot here know about a lot of fairly clean (and incredibly clean) anime and manga, and if you'd ever like a suggestion, we have a thread for that

Hope to see you around the boards!

That... is a very interesting subject to say the least :P
Lets see here. Postmodernism states that there are no absolutes... this cannot be absolutely held to obviously and because there is no standard of "right" vs. "wrong" and so the whole thing collapses on itself (e.g. Are you absolutely sure there are no absolutes?). But I think there is a deeper root to this whole mess. It seems to me that the whole acceptance of the philosophy is that it is convenient. If truth is relative there is no basis for right and wrong. I think the issue is that the conscience of the youth are being pricked and they seek (however irrational) for a way to suppress the existence of absolutes.

I think what our youth need is the true gospel. That means we need to proclaim the fallen state of these youth so they can see where they stand before God (basically they need to know "saved from what?"). I think that is our major failing. They feel their consciences but they write it off as relative. We need to drop the "Jesus loves you therefore get saved" and switch to Jesus' approach of "one thing you lack" (he was bringing to light the rich young man's heart issue of love of money) and that the youth need forgiveness. Oi! So, imo, I think our youth just need the pure gospel at this point... not watered down... the way Jesus represented it.

So does that mean you only use pans once every thousand years, or that you only use pans that are one thousand years old?

In other news, I know how to spell "millennium" correctly only because of Persona 4.

Derek -The Daring Pokemon - A cool, totally awesome Pokemon that uses his power of song, medical skills and powers of cool to make others see things differently. He is not temperamental, but he likes to pull pranks and grins when you fall into his traps. Usually, he styles a fedora and prances around on all fours, he's all black with a white belly.

Ah! you are incorrect! That would mean I only believe in multiple millennia!
(nah it just means I am sick of the debate over the future events of Christ's coming... I think it'll all "pan out" in the end).

Okay, so I read your response on postmodernism, and you are 100% right; you put into words what I knew, but had problems expressing, so dude... you inspire me.

Can I get a HOOYAH?!?!?

Also, man, I wanted to know... Do you think that Windows 98 is still a viable operating system despite the numerous upgrades that Microsoft has come out with?
And who is your favorite musician?
