I'm not so sure why there is a "Get Advice" option when your wagon is tipped over in the middle of a river. Is there any other option besides getting the wagon upright again?? Wait, let me stop and get advice while all my stuff floats away downriver!

We couldn't afford to bring our counselor on the trip.

Or maybe that's who the middle aged woman we're asking for advice from is...

Oregon Trail II seems a bit more forgiving than its predecessor. There was no almost drowning in the first version. Either that, or by now they are realizing that some people do have the swimming capabilities to not drown in three feet of water.

We hope.

Crimmy and Mr. Hat'n'Clogs! If you don't behave I swear I'll turn this wagon around and head back to Independence right this instance! (I've been wanting to say that for a day now)

Anyway, since I'm bad at this game, let's get some advice shall we.

Jeez, ya think?! :eyeroll:

Because the last time I checked Hypothermia was a bad thing, let's rest for a few days.

There, much better...no I'm not talking to that individual...she probably is just going to state the blatantly obvious again.

Everyone's healthy. Clearly I am the greatest Doctor who ever lived.

Welcome to Westport, our first town. Let's go meet the friendly, loving loca--

OH MY GOSH HE HAS A KNIFE!!! Um...hi there...

Sorry.

No, I'm the guy who'll be not saving your life when you have an "accident" in the saloon for labeling people incorrectly. But, do you happen to have any advice for us not very good at this game travelers?

Come on. People brandishing knives are the most trustworthy sort. I mean, who do you want on your side when you're attacked by thieves? Him, or some slouching store clerk?

Personally, I'd rather have someone who'd make my wallet lighter as an ally over someone who can make my back stabbed...at least I'd be alive...

Really? If it's a choice between ally and enemy, I'd take the stabby guy as an ally. Also, the dude's got a wicked cool mustache. Your party'd be the envy of the wagon train.

With the knife wielding...dude behind us, we can finally lay eyes on the map, which charts our progress Indiana Jones style...kind of...

I'm sure New Sante Fe's welcoming committee is more hospitable.

...not as bad as that knife wielding maniac but I get the feeling that coat will be giving me nightmares.

Yes. Yes! I shall slaughter them all with my boomstick!!!! MWAHAHAHAHA...sorry, I had a moment there...moving on.

A Thunderstorm. Against my better judgement, I'll ask for advice again.

Image
...wait...was that actually a bit of good advice? Huh, I thought it would take longer for us to run into helpful comments...but we're just going to slow down our already slow crawl.

You know you're in the middle of nowhere when a mound of dirt is a major landmark.

I demand an option to turn it into a hamburger! But since there isn't we'll rest...slowing us down even more so.

Proof that even in the 1800s people are still jerkish drivers...but I'm sure this will be the last problem that will slow us down for awhi--

That mound is green, not blue. I call false advertising.

Also what was wrong with the old Santa Fe that we needed a new one?

Wow. The first two people you meet in New Santa Fe are Saddam Hussein and Richard Pryor. I wanna hang out with them in the Trail Saloon. Saddam's probably a pretty cool guy when he gets a few drinks in him.

This is because those two pictures are hardcore pornography. The second Oregon Trail game really pushed the envelope.

Yes, Websense seems to be blocking all images served from img85.imageshack.us.
Those two aren't the only ones.
It's quite annoying, really. I was terribly confused until I figured out what was happening. My browser (opera) didn't show any evidence of there ever having been pictures there. I had to quote the post to see the image tags.

Previously, we got trapped in a Thunderstorm. But things can't get worse...can they?

Image
Yes...yes they can. Well, let's ford this sucker!

Image
Success...and a cold. As a doctor, I prescribe an increase in fluid intake *Best doctor ever*

Image
...I think these Thunderstorms have it out for me...

Image
Yet another flooded trail. Well, I'm sure we can ford this one as we--

Image
...asdfghjk...let's see what our fellow travelers have to say...

Image
As the doctor of this troup, I approve this message. I am in complete control over the health of my wagon mates! Nothing bad ever happens to them.

Image
...except when we face knee deep water...then they drown...and dress in drag?

Image
Another river? Well, I'm sure we can go 2/3 by fording this sucker. Yeah, that's right. Let's do this...

LEEROYYYYYYY!!!!

Yep, another post. Because I've deprived all of you for far too long.

Image
Because we've lost so many supplies, let's visit the nuns shall we?

Image
Wooh...nuns with guns.

Image
Pleasure doing business with you. Now I can go hunting again! Well, not really, for some reason the game at this point thought that I didn't have a rifle or something...so I wasn't able to slaughter any wildlife until a little later.

Image
asdrfasdfasd...ok, nobody panic. Smallpox isn't that deadly. I mean, its not like we're living in an age before modern medicine right? Well, I'm a doctor but I'm sure our wagon, train mates have some advice for us.

Image
...jerk. Fine, I'll just put some anti-septic on those skin legions...and then rub Hat'n'clogs blanket all over your face!

Image
Ford it.

Image
No casualties! YES!!! Let's rest here at this peaceful looking spring and commit homicid...I mean, talk with that wonderful man who helped us deal with that crippling disease...yeah.
