CoD Modern Warfare 2, too real?

Postby Rusty Claymore » Wed Mar 17, 2010 11:17 pm

Hey, I'm curious on the general consensus of whether CoD MW2 is too life like.
If you have comments please post them.

I've only played the multiplayer, so that is what my experience is based on.
Anyway, it just seemed like generic shooter fare to me. I don't recall blood/gore/decapitations or anything like that. Pretty tame in other words. (not that I am a regular player of games that do, I have a weak stomach).

Russia invades America from the East Coast.

Let me repeat that.

Russia. Invades America. From the East Coast.

East Coast.

Life-like? Maybe in Bizarro World.

Bua-hahaha! Thanks Fish, that was great. I hadn't thought of that. Mainly cause I spent most of the camaign looking for A-10 warthogs.
Partly this poll sprung up cause the wierd standards I've come across. One guy's mom wouldn't let them play any games where you kill people, period. But she had no problem with zombie games.
My small brain had a hard time with that one...

Actually, that's pretty much how my mom feels. If it doesn't look like a person it's okay to shoot it. She didn't seem to mind Bond on N64 though, I didn't hear that opinion till Halo came out (granted it was real bloody).

He should buy God of War III. You don't kill people in it. Just gods. I've already killed three gods and I'm barely 3 hours in! That's an average of one god per hour!

Your mom wouldn't be a very good police officer. ;D

I love that the serious business shooter seems to have cribbed story ideas from Red Alert 2.

The only blood in that game was yellow funky Flood Blood and bright blow glowy Covenant Blood. :eh:

Eh, I haven't played it but I've watched people play it and seen vids of it. The settings and such are pretty realistic (as in the environment, trees, buildings, graphics, etc.) but the actual gameplay compared to real combat? Uh. Not at all. When you get shot you don't get strawberry jelly sprayed in your face, you can't constantly run for hours. I could list some more but I can't think of any atm.

Granted, I did play CoD 2: Bid Red One and CoD 3. In CoD 3, you somehow survive a near-direct hit from a mortar shell.

Realistic? No. Fun? Yes.

Actually, in multiplayer you can run for hours. And banish terminal velocity. And snipe someone with a silenced pistol at sniper range. Yes, Fun! >.<

You are now realizing Red Alert 2 at least had the common sense to take the audacity route and say psychic operatives compromised the defenses and communication of every non-Soviet nation in the world. While launching a multiple-pronged assault.

Modern Warfare is just a sneak attack. In one direction. Over an entire continent of our allies. Who decide not to inform us because Europe is apparently either too incompetent or inconvenienced to pick up a phone and drop us a line.

To think Red Alert 2, of all things, would have the more well-thought out invasion plan.

That's my point. You can't do that in real life.

I'm pretty sure the first halo had trooper blood.
Even so, there were gallons and gallons in that game. They painted rooms with it in single player, and you could do the same with any turret gun.

I'm wracking my brain trying to think back to my hours of multiplayer on that game (as you just didn't see much of it in singleplayer) and I really honestly cannot recall any blood other than the blacklight fluid coming out of the grunts.

In halo 1 a flood infection thingy was hassling a hunter in a hallway, and a 20' section was solid orange from the hunter blood. It looked really funny, cause the hunter wasn't splurting or anything, just wherever he went it painted orange.

I'd say it's pretty realistic compared to most other FPS games currently out on the market. But compared to real life? Far from it.
