Ridley's Q&A (Just for the heck of it)

Postby RidleyofZebes » Thu Mar 11, 2010 2:38 pm

When I first joined here, I was a grammatically impaired n00b with relatively no knowledge of the etiquette and customs needed for actual conversation on the internet. A recently retired troll and utterly clueless person, I made a mess of things, I'm afraid. This being the case, I made relatively no worthwhile achievements in my opening thread.

I see others are deciding to do this very thing, so I guess it couldn't hurt to jump on the bandwagon as well.

So now, 4 years later and a few 6 month breaks from the action, let's try this again, shall we? Who knows, this could prove interesting.

Hi, I'm RidleyofZebes! Ask me questions! XD

1) If you had the power to stop time, what would you choose to do while time was on "pause"?

2) If a fire alarm went off for real and you had 30-60 seconds to take only a few things out of your home, what would they be?

3) How much wood chuck would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

What would the butterfly effects be with an OC with no chakra or ninja inclinations but a coveted special sensing ability? But that's not her only closely guarded secret. Psst, don't tell the hyper blond boy she hates ramen.

Oh boy! there's a bunch already, ain't there? Let me see, I'll go ahead and tackle these one at a time. :)

---
What's up with your avatar?
It's a proud display of my poor-to-meager photoshop skills. The character pictured would be Ridley, the recurring boss enemy from the Metroid series, and my namesake.
---
If you could star in a movie, what movie would you prefer it to be?
I'd definitely go for an action/comedy. Something along the lines of Austin Powers.
---
You find out, by accident, that you're a bowl a pudding. What kind of pudding would you be?
What's that one kind that has Oreos in it? Yeah. That one.
---
What is your favourite kind of pizza?
Ah, I assume you mean toppings? Mushroom and Olive. I could eat my weight in that stuff, man.
---
Favourite movie filmed in black and white?
So many to chose from... I could say Young Frankenstein, since it was filmed in B&W, but since it was filmed that way in an age of color films as a tribute to the original, and thus might not count, I'll say A Night at the Opera. You can't beat the Marx Bros. XD
---
If you had the power to stop time, what would you choose to do while time was on "pause"?
...If I told you that, they'd ban me. :P
---
If a fire alarm went off for real and you had 30-60 seconds to take only a few things out of your home, what would they be?
My Laptop... I suppose I could go for my desktop too... but that might be too time-consuming. >.< idk, really. There's not just a whole lot that I have I really care about that I couldn't replace.
---
How much wood chuck would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
All of it. :P
---
Favorite writers?
H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, Edgar Allen Poe, Lewis Carol, Dr. Seuss, Arthur C. Clarke, Douglas Adams, and I'm sure there are more.
---
Favorite anime titles?
Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, s-CRY-ed, Soul Eater, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (NOT GT), Anything by Katsuhiro Otomo, Osamu Tezuka or Hayao Miyazaki... I'm sure there are more, but I don't have access to a whole lot right now. lol
---
Favorite animal?
Koala Bear.
---
Got any pets?
Not any more. The cat is my sisters. My goldfish died in a freak accident involving a air freshener, and my dog just got old, poor guy. :(
---
Favorite movie to reference?
Probably Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Or Princess Bride.
---
Most embarassing moment?
Oh, gosh... there's so many! And I have to pick ONE...? I could probably make a thread for this and post them as they come to me. For now though, I'll list the first one that comes to mind. This might possibly be offensive to some readers, so I'll put is in a spoiler box to protect the innocent.
Okay, AWA '09. Over the course of the second day, I had picked up a tag-along stalker cosplaying as Misa Amane from Death Note. She has been henceforth referred to as my 'creepy Misa stalker' by my friends. She seemed quite fond of hugging me with no regard for the 3-second rule (I assume this is glomping?), and had given me the nickname “mattress”. Anyways, there was a small crowd present for the Death Note photoshoot in the hotel lobby, and she spied me standing nearby watching my friends who were cosplaying as L and Light partake in the shoot. She comes over and, you guessed it, hugs me again. After a semi-awkward 30 seconds, things get really awkward. She brushes against my cell-phone in my pocket and begins to rub against it. As she is doing this, she whispers to me “Did I make you happy?” in a tone that was anything but embarrassed. Please recall, I'm in the middle of a crowd of people and do NOT want to attract attention to... yeah. Thankfully, her friend (a female L) called her away and saved me shortly thereafter.
So yeah. That's an embarrassing moment for ya. Haha I'm sure I can think of others later.
---
Best idea for a practical joke?
Next time I'm with my friends and get separated... Calling my sister's bf and telling him "Don't worry about me, just get my sister out of there. Now." Plus some ramblings about zombies and being bitten. XD The sad part is, the poor guy would fall for it. Which is what makes this such a good idea.
---
Ever been snipe hunting?
O.o No... I don't think so... What is that anyway? You're not the first person to ask me that.
---
Why? (philosophically speaking)
Because. Because, my friend, this world is filled with many things that have yet to be answered either through man's own ramblings or his advancements in the sciences There has been no progress made either forwards or back to answer this question. There are questions that question the very integrity of this question, and thereby question questioning as we know it. So many questions, but so few answers... In this situation, an answer is called for... but it may be a call upon deaf ears. I beseech you therefore, to go and find the answer to this question for yourself, and not to rely on the limited scope of my humble knowledge. Go now, and discover that which you seek. When you find the answer... do not share it. Do not impart the answer it so a single soul other than you yourself. To spread this answer would be to scatter a pricelessly meaningful revelation to the four winds, where it would be scoffed and laughed at; for its meaning would be lost to those who had not found it for themselves. So go, my friend. Go and make this world a better place.
---
Well, that's all for now. I look forward to answering more questions later! It's been fun! Keep 'em comin', guys!

As a Lovecraft fan, what do you think of this Cthulu plushie?
I'm sorry, I see no Cthulu plushie. That's a very nice Cthulhu plushy you have there though. I shudder with terror at its squidly visage. Did you make that? o.o

Did you ever see the movie 2001? What did you think?
Ah, 2001: A Space Odyssey. I'm afraid I haven't haven't had the good fortune of watching it, though. Yet. It's on my list.

What was the last movie you saw?
The Princess and the Frog. 'Twas a good movie. :) An excellent opener to Disney's return to hand-drawn animation.

What was the worst game (PC/Console/whatever) you ever played?
Of all time? I know you're expecting me to say something like Superman64 or ET (Atari2600), but fortunately I've heard the reviews and made the decision not to play them. Now comes the trouble of selecting a BAD game I've played...
I may come up with another later, but for now, I'll mention this: A Witches' Tale (DS). The puzzles were only mildly challenging enough to take away from the boredom of the atrocious combat system, and the story started out strong and just... disappeared.

PC or Mac?
I bet I'm gonna lose a lot of people here... but PC.

A secular theologian accosts you at the Dry Soaked Bread Festival and tell you that you're old young 'un and needs to be doubled halved. What would your response be?
I'd talk to him in silence about the general specifics of manual automated labor, hoping that he forgot his original statement in the orderly confusion that followed just before.

Favorite christian apologist?
C.S. Lewis

How are you?
...This question is so deep, I may drown. Every time I'm asked this question, I debate with myself whether I should answer it with a casual, ordinary response, or if I should answer it in all honesty and truthfulness, and spill my guts to the person asking right then and there. I realize though, that the person was probably expecting the casual answer, and would not know how to handle the truth. So to avoid a very awkward situation, I resort to something easier to comprehend.

So I'm doing totally fine, thanks! How are you?

How often do you login to CAA a day?
It really varies. Usually I'm on 3-4 times a day, generally one of those resulting in a few worthwhile posts. I'm trying to break myself of lurking.

How do you like pie?
Cooked. Because it tastes kinda strange raw.

How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could Chuck Norris?
Dude, a woodchuck could never Chuck Norris. The poor animal's organs would implode and its brain would hemorrhage from the sheer amount of awesome it would be exposed to. Nice try, though.

Favorite scifi movie?
Star Wars. All of it.
...and I, Robot.

Favorite action movie? (you could combine this with scifi if you want)
becuz Sci-Fi = Action lol m I rite? Haha so wats teh one were evryting bolws up and had no plot? That one.

Favorite comedy movie?
Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged movie. :P

Would you eat green eggs & ham?
I would not eat Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them, Sam I Am.

I didn't make it. I found it. I think Lovecraft is probably spinning in his grave at that abomination. Evil is not cute!
I'm sorry you feel that way. If that's the case, I probably shouldn't tell you about the Hello Cthulhu web-comic, either.

Anyway, would you want to team up with Samus?
A skilled bounty hunter and beautiful woman in one nicely-wrapped package? You bet!

How did you learn about CAA?
Ah, here's another excuse to recount my story. ^^
After hearing one too many times about my obsession over this mysterious 'Japanimation' thing sometime back around '05, my mother went on an internet quest with Google in an attempt to learn more of what I was talking about. During that search, she found.... some of the less-savory elements of the culture, I'm afraid. She then apparently shot for the opposite end of the scale, and discovered christianmanga.com, and through that, The Project. My sister loved it; yet, I shunned it for being 'amateur' and 'non-Japanese'. (Those are two things which I have since taken back, BTW. I love The Project and fully endorse the work of UC Pseudonym, Psycho Ann, Mave, and the rest!)

One day, my mother and sister were doubled over laughing around the computer, and I came to see what was the matter. They had been reading a thread from a forum they had found through The Project, on a board called 'Goof-Off'. ;) I began reading it with them, and later decided to join the forum under my GameFAQs Message Boards username. Being quite the noob, (I had just come from GameFAQs, what did you expect? :P) I had little-to-no understanding of the customs of the forum. GameFAQs had 'Boards' and 'Topics', while CAA (as I had come to know the place) had 'Forums' and 'Threads'. I was caught off-guard by how nice and friendly the folk were around here, and didn't quite know how to take the transition from the tough, cursing cliques of 13-year-olds that made up the general populace of GameFAQs. Eventually, however, it grew on me and I became a regular member here at CAA. I've loved it ever since, and now consider it my home forum. :) In fact, I completely stopped using the GameFAQs message boards nearly a year ago.

This reminds me, I'd really like to change my CAA user name sometime. I've stopped using RidleyofZebes and now go by DarkwaterHealer on any new sites I join. Change scares me, though... I may never get around to doing it.

Favorite Metroid game and why?
Metroid Fusion. It was amazingly plot-heavy for a Metroid game, yet still had all the best elements of the previous games in the series. I love a game with a good plot. The ending still gives me shivers. Haha!

Have you played the MP Trilogy for the Wii?
Sadly, no. I don't own a Wii console yet. I have, however, played the first two entries in the Metroid: Prime series on GCN and enjoyed them quite thoroughly. The first remains my favorite of the two.

Do you want to answer this question?
That's like asking me if I want do dig my wisdom teeth out with a spork, then handing me the utensil and a vial of Novocain. It's a process that will only be as painful as I make it, but is nevertheless expected of me.

As a space-dragon thing, would you partake in Mario Kart?
While I can't speak for my namesake, personally, I've been a fan of the Mario Kart series since it's SNES days. *proud owner of an original SNES cartridge containing said game*

Coffee or chai tea?
Monster. >=D lol Actually, I've never cared for coffee, and I can't say whether I've ever had Chai Tea. I'm not really into different brews/blends kind of stuff.

Pikachu?
Should have fallen into the hands of Team Rocket and da Boss while Ash and Co. spent an entire season attempting to rescue him. Seriously, I loved Jessie, James and Meowth, and as the seasons progressed, they just became more and more of a joke. Absolutely pitiful. But I stopped watching the anime after the voice actors changed anyway.

Hey I started on Gamefaqs too. And Catholic Answers.
Awesome. :) Nice to meet a fellow GameFAQer. Never been to Catholic Answers, but GameFAQs was nice back when CJayC was still the admin.

Who are your favorite people on CAA?
So you're asking me to play favorites now? :eyebrow: Sorry, I can't do that. I love all of you guys!
