When I was younger, I was a jedi for Halloween. I got a new lightsaber for it, and one warning label was kind enough to inform me that I should not "Poke or Jab with Light Saber". I lol'ed.

Well, duh. Any padawan knows the proper technique for lightsaber is a slashing rather than a thrusting attack.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Slashing can be pretty messy, though. A quick thrust could do the job rather quickly. Then again, maybe it was a way to try to prevent them from turning to the Dark Side.

Although hospital work differs somewhat from retail, I've seen my share of stupid behavior from patients, visitors, and even staff.
Just a few of the things I really wish I could say:

Sharps Boxes are for sharp things and nothing else.
That's why we tell you not to flush those.
You really shouldn't eat that.
The three Wet Floor signs are clearly visible.
No, I will not remove your restraints.
Room 731 is on the seventh floor. This is the basement.
"Too much earwax" does not supercede a severe laceration for ER attention.

. . . And so on. It never ends.

I heard a 911 call with someone complaining about people at the Pizza Hut buffet!:wow!:

He was saying: 'I... I was going up to the buffet line and then these two women started going up there at the same time; I sat back down again. Then I started to go up again and then this body-guard looking man went up there. I think someone's trying to mess with me or something'

911: 'But sir... what is your complaint?'

Man: 'Uhh... What the freak is with you people?! I-I... *click*.'

The man hung-up.

O.O What's happening to this world?!

Hey, while we're on the subject, there is a great song about it by "The W's", a christian band, called, "Stupid." Poor little foo-foo... Anyways, I wanted to be in the courtroom for the "Do NOT use hairdryer while sleeping" case. Science could benefit from that.

Ah... Back when I worked at Chick-fil-a, we got these types on a regular basis. Let me see...

There was the car full of mexicans who came through drive-through, and the only english speaker among them was in the back seat... That was more of a lack of forethought than stupidity, though...

The people who spent 15 minutes trying to order a chili dog, and we had to get the operator to make them believe we didn't sell them...

The people in drive-through who try to order at the garbage can...

The people in drive-through who try to order at the 'turn off your cell phones' sign...

That one drunk guy who was yelling into his cell phone over the top of the kids singing happy birthday... He was cursing so much that the night manager called the police... But not before asking him to leave nicely and being cussed out himself. Then the police got there and he started complaining to the police that all the kids were too loud... Needless to say, he got a free ride that night.

XD and i've got many more, but not all of them fall under stupid people, i don't think.

Me: Uh... sure, I guess so.

My favorite stupid customer moment was when I was working at Wal-Mart and a first time shoplifter came to me requesting my advice on how to not make the front door alarms go off for the products he was trying to steal.

My mom tells a story about when she was a college student, working at a Christian book store. She says a guy once tried to steal a Bible.
What's the Christian thing to do in that situation?

I love NotAlwaysRight, but honestly, I don't like the whole making-fun-of-stupid-people thing. Everyone's stupid, and this doesn't exclude people who call other people stupid... and there're probably plenty of super-geniuses out there who think we average folk are all stupid in the same way =/

I'm with Minakichan on the whole making fun of people thing. I spent most of my academic career being made fun of, so I don't really like to see it regardless of the reason.

Everyone does stupid things. The only difference between smart people and "less smart" people is how OFTEN they do stupid things. I have a lot of friends who are indeed very intelligent. The smartest man I know makes me fear for my life any time he drives. And I don't necessarily only mean when I'm in the car. :D

And lady, you go to MIT. "Us average folk" indeed. XD

That's funny. Common sense would say that in places with those security devices in place to make sure you're going out with a group of people when you set off the alarm and then look like you're sure you didn't set it off. Lol

I agree to a point. I do agree that everyone does stupid things without necessarily being stupid themselves. For that I remember the intro to one of the Dilbert books where Scott Adams says he went to his service provider to complain his brand new phone was broken, and they looked it over, flipped the battery over so it was inserted the correct way, and handed him his perfectly functional phone back.

He responded by saying that was pretty stupid admittedly, but somehow he had managed to have the intelligence to operate a motor vehicle and safely drive it through hazardous traffic to reach that place. He wasn't stupid; he just did a stupid thing.

Putting a phone battery in, to me, is however a different level of stupid than say, thinking a Superman costume can make you fly. To be fair however I would wager that a lot of the warning labels on products isn't because people honestly do or think these things, but that it's a ploy to get money and the companies are just trying to cover their butts. It takes basically no time or money to print a small warning label, whereas not putting one and then getting dragged into a court battle can take a lot of time or money (and most of the time both).

These retail stories remind me of one of Paul Southworth's early (now defunct) comics called "Krazy Larry" where one of the characters worked at a store named "Everything But Walnuts." The store carried literally everything in the world that you could possibly purchase in a store...except for walnuts (for some unknown reason). As you might imagine, a running gag in the comic involves people coming to the store and wanting to buy walnuts despite the fact that the store is named "Everything But Walnuts."

Stupid on TV is always good for a laugh. That's why AFV (America's Funniest Videos-where-someone-gets-kicked-in-the-crotch-or-falls-off-a-roof) is so popular.

According to a report released Tuesday by the Center For Media Studies, TV teens out-wisecrack real-life teens by a 15-to-1 margin. Said researcher Dr. Andrea Brewer: "Our study found that, when told by a parent, 'You know, son, when I was a kid, I didn't have my own TV in my room,' actual teens were far less likely to respond, 'Yeah, that's 'cause they hadn't been invented yet!' than their fictional counterparts." Brewer noted that the handful of real-life teens who make such smart-alecky retorts have a mere 2 percent chance of being met with laughter and applause.

This is not a "stupid customer" story but merely directs your attention to a stupid utterance.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter is surprised that John Terry has been sacked as England captain and has said that the centre-back would have been applauded in some countries for having an alleged affair.

England manager Fabio Capello stripped Terry of the captaincy on Friday following revelations in the UK press about the defender's private life, including allegations that he had an extra-marital affair with the ex-partner of England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

Despite the nationwide controversy in England, Blatter joked that in "Latin" countries, Terry's conduct may not have been considered a problem.

Blatter said: "Listen, this is a special approach in the Anglo-Saxon countries. If this had happened in let's say Latin countries then I think he would have been applauded."
*sigh* How did this man get to be head of an organization? That is just incredibly offensive to two different races. It's like he doesn't have that little voice in his head that tells you "Hey...thaaaat's a bad idea." Oi.
