I thought of another game to add onto my initial list...consider it an honorable mention.

Okay, so it's not that bad of a game on paper. A competent engine build prevents it from being abjectly broken like a few other games people have name-dropped, but competence doesn't translate to engrossing. Could they have made this game more boring and tedious? Just crossing the world map seems to take our intrepid cardboard protagonists the longest of time. And yet, somehow it was considered new and shiny enough to get not one but two sequels, though how I'll never comprehend.

Throw rocks at me.

I agree with you, though I'd hardly call Golden Sun one of the worst games of the decade. I enjoyed the battle system; how your spells and summons depended on the combination of Djinni you had and such. The turn-based battles are the next iteration of a venerable system, which reiterates why it's lasted so long (for another modern example, see Pokemon); it's simple and effective. Block puzzles involving using magic/Psynergy out of battles was a twist that got old quickly. The music was merely OK, though it did have its moments. Meanwhile, the graphics were hideous. I didn't care for Donkey Kong Country's look, and I thought Golden Sun was pretty much the same as that in terms of graphics.

And then there's the plot. I could have dealt with the generic "get the cosmic keystones, beat the bad guys, save the world" plotline, but the dialogue, thanks to the little emotes they used to punctuate each emotion, dragged on and on and on. To make it worse, the characters didn't seem to have any other motivation or background other than "save the world." All this has been done before, of course, but they've done it a lot better. See, for example, the Legend of Zelda games. It's got the same basic plot as Golden Sun, but with characters and a world you cared about, making for a better plot overall.

Yeah, it's got some good parts to it, but you have to wade through the problems that overwhelm it to get to them.

I loved Sonic Adventure.

If DC games come to PS3 like is rumored, I'm gonna rebuy it.

Still, there was a particularly terrible GBA port of the first Sonic called Sonic the Hedgehog: Genesis. It was made by Sega after the disaster that was Sonic '06, making it one of the very last GBA games made, and was only $20 at the time of its release. But it wasn't even worth that much! MIDI-ized music, cruddy controls, glitches aplenty, and the fact that the top and bottom parts of the screen were cut off all make this port one of the worst games of the decade, in my opinion.

Also, most movie-based games were pretty bad, but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in particular. It's basically a trippy and endless fetch quest, with elements of Dance Dance Revolution added now and again. Tim Burton movies deserve better games (look at Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge for comparison; that's how it should be done). That is all.

Actually, I did like this game quite a bit. I mean sure it was slow at times, but the range of attacks and all the different scenes that came through that matching system were interesting. I never really got bored with the game. I think I'd still go back and play it again.

However, these games aren't for everybody.

Art of Murder: FBI Confidential (PC)

A point and click adventure game with 3D graphics. The graphics were not bad. But the fact that the controls sometimes respond and sometimes do not (despite clicking on the same spot) means I simply do not have the patience to continue with it.

I'll add more as they occur to me, but Dementium: The Ward springs to mind. What a disappointment that one was.

@ ich1990: You were confusing it with the new Silent Hill game.

edit: Speaking of Silent Hill, there's the iphone game that came out a little while ago, SH: The Escape. It's a rail shooter. A Silent Hill rail shooter. That's like using chess pieces to play Candyland.

Also,
-The new Leisure Suit Larry game. It got Gametrailers.com's lowest rating ever.
-Resident Evil: Outbreak and the aptly named RE Outbreak File #2.
-Rule of Rose. That one had potential. It really could have been a great game. But its flaws are too numerous to look past.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.

Yes, it's been four years and I'm still not over it. This is hands down the worst game in my collection. And I own some really sucky games. I PUT SONIC 2006 ABOVE RESIDENT EVIL SURVIVOR IN HORRIBLENESS.

Darkvoid wasn't that bad. Certainly not terrible. It had a lot of good polish to it, but was sadly unfinished. Even if you don't like it, and I can see why it isn't for everyone, I would hardly say it was the worst game of the decade. I've played way worse on that game's console alone.

Isn't DV multiplatform? I played the demo, and it was pretty crappy... Not as bad as Lair, but my experience with flying games in General over the past decade hasn't been the greatest.

Dementium was a pretty good experiment in what the DS is capable of. It wasn't that big of a disappointment, in my opinion.

Agreed one hundred percent. Sonic 4 will erase all the bad memories that were given to me first by Sonic Adventure DX, then by Shadow the Hedgehog, and finally by that...THING.

Also, I really, really wanted to like the DS game Lux-Pain, and at first, I did. I'm a visual novel fan, and the game did come with a free artbook. So, I was sold. Turns out it was one of the worst visual novels ever made, not because of the game mechanics (the best visual novel engine I've seen on the DS besides Phoenix Wright's), but the absolutely HORRID localization. This game has the worst Engrish dialogue since...since the infamous Zero Wing! Lux-Pain is a good game killed by a very poor translation. My advice? If you know Japanese, importing it is the way to go. Otherwise, stay away.

I think that if Sonic Unleashed had left out the werehog bit and focused solely on the Sonic levels it would have been a much better and more popular game than it turned out to be. But to that end, I went into the game with extremely low expectations and ended up enjoying it for what it was. It was a gimmick game, but at least it was finally a step up, (a small one) and I don't think it received proper credit for such. Although I can fully understand why people didn't like it. Those werehog sections were far too long. But at least Sonic wasn't kissing any human princesses. Though what was up with the gay human NPC that hit on Sonic???:shake:

But this isn't "Games you really hated" this is "Worst games."

It's possible for a game to be good but still hate it. For example World of Warcraft, even I can admit, is a well-designed and good game. However, I hate it, I hate everything about it, I can't stand it. That doesn't make it a bad game just because I don't like it.

OK, Mr. Picky. Just correct everyone else in the thread who's doing the same thing (for example, despite its flaws, I didn't think Clive Barker's Jericho was so bad, but someone else wanted to tear it down and that's fine by me).
It's hard for most people to remain purely objective all the time, that's why reviewers and critics have a job.

Right, something tells me this ship's on a collision course with wackiness, so let's steer a little starboard of yonder iceberg, shall we?
