What's your favorite Christmas Carol

OK, now that the holiday season is officially here, it's time for my annual "what's your favorite Christmas Carol" thread. This time around, it's a little different. This time, I want you to post youtube videoes of your favorites.

By the time Christmas finally arrives, I am thoroughly sick of every single one, no matter how good it is. This one encapsulates my attitude after hearing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" 10,000 times too often.

Years ago I did see a performance of the latter song worth mentioning. A guy in classic spy wear (trenchcoat, dark glasses, fedora) recited the lyrics, emphasizing such lines as "He sees you when you're sleeping/He knows when you're awake," bringing out the Orwellian flavor of this creepy song.

Oh wait, I'm probably supposed to list specifics, huh. Also, if you really want the version I like, then look the title of the song up for the Relient K version. Bold means I love it even more than the rest of my favorites. I get into Christmas music.

O Holy Night is my favorite, though I have yet to find a specific version of it that I truly love-- it's a difficult song to sing so people usually either do a poor job or oversing it.

My favorite one is that one... You know. That carol that has the bells in it. Oh, gosh, I can never remember the name of it.

It's my absolute favorite, but the rest of my list stems for the most part from the Relgious songs for Christmas. The contemporary stuff doesn't much do it for me, and some of it actually bothers me (See "Baby It's Cold Outside" and the reference to drugging a lady's drink to get her to do stuff with you). Not that a lot of the secular songs are bad (except for the above mentioned), they just don't move me like a lot of the religious ones do.

There are a handful of secular Christmas songs that I like; namely, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Merry Christmas Darling, and Christmas Waltz. The Christmas Song is alright, but not my favorite, and I could go the rest of my life without hearing any of the other secular stuff out there XD

If I may be allowed to cheat a little, the soundtracks to The Muppet Christmas Carol and A Charlie Brown Christmas are my favorites. My favorite tracks are "Fozziwig's Party" in the former, and "O, Christmas Tree" in the latter.

I don't celebrate Christmas, but I do like music. In that tradition, I give you this. Give it a minute; it gets better as it goes on.

Seriously, though, I also really liked Relient K's Christmas album, Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand, and I really, really liked their version of Sleigh Bells. There's also this version of God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen with the Santana sound that I've heard on the radio, and can't find anywhere. No matter who does that song, though, I like the sound of it.

It's called Carol of the Bells. The version by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is called "Christmas in Sarajevo."
And if you think "Baby It's Cold Outside" is disturbing, get this. There is a parody of "Grandma Got Run-over by a Reindeer called "Grandma Got Dismembered by a Chainsaw."

Sorry, Rocks. I was actually being silly, I do know the name. Actually, last night we were playing Last.fm's christmas station while we decorated the Tree and August Burns did an awesome version of it as well. I'd totally suggest it if you like TSO's rendition.

I like a lot of the usuals such as Angels We Have Heard, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angels, O Come All Ye Faithful (how can you beat words like "lo, he abhors not the virgin's womb"?). There's another one called Not A Silent Night which I've only heard in one place, so I don't think it's widespread.
