I May Have Gotten My Work Colleague In Trouble

Postby Riggidig » Tue Nov 24, 2009 7:22 am

Today was a REALLY hectic day at work, so much so that I didn't have time for a proper lunchbreak. Come near 5 pm I was beat. Then, a client who we know to be very difficult and spends a long time with her work came in at about 4:55 pm. Before she could even speak to me my work colleague interveaned and said that she has to come back tomorrow, that I had a really long and hard day and that it's nearly closing time. The 2 basically got into an argument, with the client saying that she found my colleague's attitude "unprofessional" and left, saying she will report this to our boss tomorrow.

I am really worried that, because of me, my work colleague is going to get into real trouble and/or maybe fired. Just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse... :sniffle:

It sounds like he knew what he was getting in to when he stepped in. I wouldn't worry about him much. He sounds like a tough customer. ^-^

Even worse. I've seen how my wife gets when she has problem customers. If she's anything like that, she'll definitely be OK.

Make sure regardless of how things turn out to return the favor somehow. You owe the colleague a lunch or a coffee or something. I know it's just common decency and good teamwork that prompted her to step in for you, but so's the occasional free coffee. Good coworkers are pure gold.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

To make matters worse, she messaged me afterwards and told me the difficult client is actually a good friend of our boss...

She said after that though: "Check the worry in my eyes." Yup. One tough cookie.

Honestly, at my place of work we pretty much can't do anything at 15 to 5. Unless a server has exploded, we pretty much say, "Oh, feel free to stop by tomorrow! Bye!"

I'll pray that your boss is understanding of the situation.

Hmmm, well, if your boss is fair, he'll listen to both sides ^^ I'll pray that he/she does so ^^

Well, the client seems to not have complained. Yet.

Well, she DID kinda bombard the client. I was rather shocked at the situation that developed. Between a rock and a hard place.
