Disturbing, gory video ALL DRIVERS SHOULD SEE

Postby Bobtheduck » Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:28 am

I'll say this video is "appropriate" for ages 16 and up, because it's something all of Driving age should see... If driving age is younger in your country, you should see it if you're that old too.

This video is uber disturbing. If it weren't for the message i want to get across, I'd never post it here. It wouldn't be "CAA appropriate" otherwise, so consider yourself warned. And still watch it.

Do you talk on your cellphone, text, or focus on your iPod to make sure you get the right music when you're driving?

Then you should watch this... Very disturbing, but seriously... Too many people I know do this crap... Or do dumb things like race. Like, a good 75% of my friends.

If you don't do these things, and you're a safe driver, you may want to at least pass the video onto friends who do those sort of stupid things.

There is a lesson to be learned. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen people doing stupid things behind the wheel. Actually...
It makes me angry when people do that. This is from personal experience, having to deal with drivers who can't pay attention because they are too busy.

The third car seemed a little excessive, particularly considering the timing difference, though there's no reason it couldn't happen I suppose. Similarly, I'm also glad that they included the other two cars in the post-crash coverage since risky driving can affect a larger number of people than just one bad driver (though there was some pandering in there).

On the whole though, a pretty solid PSA. Things this bad or worse could actually happen.

Yeah, I sort of wondered if they were going to show the third driver was drunk or changing songs on his or her iPod or dialing his or her phone or something... They should have timed the scene better to make it seem more obvious that even the last crash was the girl's fault.

I have to say, despite there not being any blood in that part, the Baby got to me the most... I mean, that looked so freaking real... It's not like you can get a baby to stare for that long, and It didn't look like it was slowed down or anything...

Ew, the random gushing of blood and flesh was just a bit too much...

But it's a very powerful PSA, nonetheless.

I don't need to see a video to realize that playing with your phone while driving is a really stupid idea. However, I did update my Facebook status via my phone yesterday though...because the traffic WASN'T MOVING. But that's kinda different. XD

This isn't like... texting related, or anything, just bad driving. Legit. The guy was ok too, cos he... bounced off the car and stuff.

Please keep things on topic. I don't think this thread was meant to be for talking about dumb drivers in general, but rather ones that text or talk on their cell phone while driving. We don't need more unnecessary violent videos.

I think the creator intent was to get people thinking what happens in accident. Things happen in split seconds. The third car becoming part of the accident could mean everyone was traveling at highway speeds and sometimes there is no where no way to avoid something happening that quick unless you are way back.
I have witness two headons while traveling and had to jump in to do what I could until the local emergency crews could get there.
I have been kidded that my POV is a mini squad with the EMS materials, hand tools, traffic control items and turnount gear I carry.
Many of the accidents on intersate highways will have many vehicles involved and some will crossover mediums and start another accident in the opposit lanes.
We had a accident caused by someone talking on a cell phone that closed a eight lane interstate and killed six people including the person on the cell phone and involved ten vehilces North and South bound lanes.

Six people? Wow.
I can tell you though, stupid drivers who cause bad accidents don't always have to pay.

From what I remember about the accident was that the person had just bought a new SUV which they were just learning how to drive and was following someone because they didn't know how to get to that person's house. So the person was talking on the cell phone and speeding to catch up with them.
They lost control of the SUV, hit a guard rail and went airborne and landed on top of a car going the opposit direction which started a chain reaction accident in both directions.
Just yesterday a police officer was thrown on to the hood of his patrol car when it was hit from behind by a out of control pickup truck.
The officer was on a traffic stop when this happened. The officer was flown to Shock Trauma and will be there for a while.

Very well put together, but they went a little overboard with the splattering sound effects I think.

I hate to sound callous, but I have my doubts as to whether this video will do a lot of good. Given the sheer amount violence and gore teenagers see in most movies now days, I doubt any of this is very shocking. Add the fact that this video was done using actors and slow-mo cameras and it just seems too unreal to be very disturbing.

These types of videos can be effective. For instance, I still vividly remember the video Red Asphalt (real life roadside footage of accidents) that I was forced to watch in Driver's Education class and unconsciously slow down at the thought of it. Simply, these videos need to be able to reach a insensitive generation.

Neither Did Red Asphalt... For everyone, at least. For the ones it did, it may have meant thousands of lives saved for the millions lost due to those who didn't care.

If this means another 1000 not in those millions killed, then it was worth it, I think. And if you have friends that do those things and they don't care after the video, it's time to slap some sense into them yourself.
