It's different enough from the anime (order of events, mostly) that it's still interesting and it's similar enough (in every other way) to make the calm music play in my head while the Undines go about their business in Neo-Venezia. It's fantastic and I'm going to be sad again when I finish it.

Besides my weekly One Piece offering, I just finished Battle Royale. The end was okay, almost enough to forget all the bad moments of the rest. Now I started Battle Blitz Royale, but I'm finding the character design quite hard to stomach. Also, the premise is not quite as attractive as the first one's. The few next chapters will decide if I drop it or not.

I finally got around to finishing the final arc in Rurouni Kenshin. It's not as epic as Kyoto, but it's way more satisfying, matters much more, and develops the characters more than anime filler.

M&R is awesome, I totally voucher for it. The first couple volumes are very episodic, with the pair solving random cases, but suddenly it explodes out in a really rich and overarching plot. I kept up with the scanlations until it became licensed, but now I haven't seen it around

Cage of Eden: A bunch of teenagers on a school trip have their plane go down on a strange island filled with dangerous prehistoric animals.

It gets bonus points for not being Jurassic Park and actually featuring extinct animals that aren't dinosaurs. Although, the general premise made me wonder how popular Lost is in Japan.

This is a really addicting series. It's a bit similar to Death Note, as it showcases geniuses trying to outmaneuver each other, but it's by no means a DN clone. Also, it somehow makes me care about the minor and secondary characters who get killed off, and manages to keep a high level of tension throughout...

Amatsuki
During a field trip to a virtual reality simulation of the Edo Period, a high school student finds himself stranded in historical Japan...where humans and demons coexist as mortal enemies...and both want to use him to defy their fate.

I enjoyed the anime adaptation of this awhile back, despite it having no sense of closure. The premise sounds like a typical Japanese fantasy setting, but it has a likable cast, and is worth a read for fans of historical fantasy.
Also, the hinted science fiction elements that pop up periodically are intriguing.
It's quite dialogue-heavy, and an awkward translation isn't helping this however.
