Golden Years - David Bowie
"To be a good listener, you must acquire a musical culture...you must be familiar with the history and development of music, you must listen...to receive music you have to open your ears and wait for the music, you must believe that it is something you need ...to listen is an effort, and just to hear has no merit. A duck hears also." - Igor Stravinsky

Ocean's 12 has a scene in it, in which a french man dances with Lasers in the middle of a museum at night.

The song he is dancing to is a stripped down, technoed up version of "The Al La Menthe", a french rap song.

This song is SOOOOO AWESOME TO LISTEN TO ENDLESSLY
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole

"Heroes" - David Bowie

Funny, the last post I posted here was another David Bowie song.....I don't listen to him that much!

Catch Me, by local South African gospel group MIC.

This song was released way back in 1996, when the group was still relatively new. It was their only song that managed to penetrate the local top 40 (managed to get in relatively high I remember, and on a SECULAR radio station to boot). It's just so awesome to listen to every now and then, at full volume (it has a bit of a dance beat, but as a Christian it just makes you feel God's awesome power in your life).

Unfortunately the group disbanded a couple of years ago. Pity really. I suggest all you guys outside of SA who haven't heard this before try to get a hold of it. Great stuff.

"My Last Amen" - Downhere

I heard this on the radio earlier today and asdlfjgkl. It is addicting. The music is catchy and I like the lead singer's voice. Don't hurt me, but I think he sounds similar to Stephen Christian (of Anberlin) in some parts of the song. XD Especially this one:

And while the thrills are fading
The joy is in the waiting
Somewhere in the grand design
It's good be unsatisfied
It keeps the faith and hope a little more alive

When I first got the song "Regime Change" by Disciple, I played it close to 100 times in a row. No lie. I went through a similar experience with "Battlecry" by Pillar and another song I found at the same time as "Battlecry" that I've still yet to place to an artist.

Recently I've found that whenever I come across Owl City's "Saltwater Room" I inevitably listen to it about 5 times at minimum.

"The Cat and the Moon" from the LotR musical. Yes, there's a musical. I've never seen it, but the music is fantastic!

"Chowa Ota" by Kokia from the Origin: Spirits of the Past soundtrack.

"Hall om mig" by Nonne - blame it on the AMV thread, there was a spectacular AMV from Princess Tutu on there to this song, and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since I watched it.

"Storm" by Vanessa Mae - a pumped up version of Vivaldi's Summer III. Presto

Right now it's "Requiem for a Dream". It's not exactly 'fun' or 'inspirational', but it's perfect mood music for the big scene I'm writing right now. I don't know if I could have gotten this far without it. ;)

I've been listening to "Awake" and "Your Call" by Secondhand Serenade a lot lately. Beautiful songs.
