Julie and Julia

Postby ADXC » Sun Aug 09, 2009 10:09 am

You are probably wondering why a guy is posting about a semi-chicflic, but this movie was really good! It's not often one comes across such as an inspirational movie as this. I wouldn't label this as a chicflic because it is really about cooking with a dash(Pun) romance in it.

I saw the movie and it was great. I really do like the idea of making more of your life by learning a new trade or skill and challenging yourself to do it. And in doing this Julie was able to learn more about Julia Childs. It also teaches that when things are not going that great, to keep on moving and cooking as it showed in the movie.

The movie was also hillarious! It's a lot more funny than many other movies I've seen recently and that comedy was not the main focus in this one.

I also like that this movie showed two different stories that alternate scenes as other movies have done in the past. You get to see Julia Childs in France learning to be a great cook by taking this classes while in the other Julie writing a blog about cooking these foods from Julia's cookbook.

What I really like about this movie is that it is about realife people and that this actually happened.

So if anyone else has seen this movie, please post because I want to know your thought as well.

I actually really wanna see this. XD I love Meryl Streep; she can play just about any role, so I'd love to see how she interprets Julia Childs. XD

Oh Corrie, she does it so WELL! For a second it felt like I was seeing the real Julia Childs. She even has the voice down pat! And doing a voice for Julia Childs can be very trying to because she had such a unique voice. But Meyrl Streep nailed it in my opinion.

I also really want to see this. Hopefully I'll have the chance before school starts.

I would suggest seeing it. To me it's one of the most heartfelt and inspiring movies of the year. You don't want to miss this gem.

I want to see this. I love Nora Ephron's work (especially Sleepless in Seattle). I also think Amy Adams is adorable (I also think I have a thing for redheads, hence my love for Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club/Pretty in Pink/Sixteen Candles). Basically, I'm aware that it's weird that I want to see this...but I do.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.
