Cool.

(And for the record, the best donuts come from Shipley's.)

I still contend that you've never had a real Krispy Kreme donut or a fresh one, at least. Typically, what gets passed out at fundraisers or left to sit in grocery store shelves for three days is NOT the same product that you get from a real Krispy Kreme shop. Of course, by that same token, I wouldn't want to eat any donuts that have been sitting there for three days. You've probably had one from like a grocery store that was tossed in a Krispy Kreme box and left to sit there for some extended period, but have you ever visited an actual Krispy Kreme shop? More than likely not, seeing as your primary experience with them was from some fundraising vendor while you were in the military and that left you with a bad taste. I'd say Krispy Kreme donuts are more like Super Mario World than ANY Dunkin Donut donut that I've ever had.

Since you're implying that I have some irrational love of Krispy Kreme donuts, I'll tell you why I prefer them. I prefer Krispy Kreme donuts because they are lighter than Dunkin Donuts. A good Krispy Kreme donut is moist and delicate, while with Dunkin Donuts, it starts to feel like I'm a dog with peanut butter stuck on the roof of my mouth. A fresh Krispy Kreme donut melts in your mouth, and I much prefer that. I've actually eaten both Krispy Kreme AND Dunkin Donuts from their shops, in the morning when they were fresh, and I still prefer Krispy Kreme. If tasting both and making a decision based on their quality is the same as saying Uwe Boll's film is better than Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, then I am honestly at a loss for what to tell you. Maybe my tastebuds are broken!

I get the point of your post, though... it's cute. It's wrongheaded, but it's cute.

This.

But yeah, I never knew doughnuts would ever cause such a debate. And I kinda have to agree with Robin Firedrake that topic of this thread is no where to be found.

Jumping on the paddywagon a little too late.......
Yasuhiro Nightow has an obsession with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, so I'd say that's enough to validate Krispy Kreme's awesomeness. And yes, they are awesome fresh, about some of the best not-so-good-things for you that you can put in your mouth. The Krispy Kreme doughnut is like the Super DX Version of any doughnut known to man.....but you have to get them fresh.....although I've never had a Shipley's doughnut. ANYWAYS.

I love baklava. I think it's the greatest dessert you can have. Eat some baklava with turkish coffee. All kinds of baklava are good....it's almost impossible to ruin it unless you just can't cook....why? Because Walmart prepackaged baklava is awesome. All the baklava I've ever eaten is awesome.....AND
BAKLAVA IS FUN TO SAY. IT IS A GOOD WORD.
Other than that I like this cake my mom fixes with chocolate and cherries and whipped cream and another one that has chocolate cake/whippedcream/heathbars/lots of caramel and sweetened condensed milk.

I'd also like to throw out this:

which is good to eat after this:

What's almost better is their Belgian Waffle with ice cream, powdered sugar, pecans, and syrup! Wake that pancreas up!

Please get back on topic, people.

I like most desserts, but oatmeal chocolate chips cookies are my favorite.

Aw, Goldie, that was like three days ago. : (

Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies sound delicious. I've never had them. I've had oatmeal cookies and I've had chocolate chip cookies, but never together.

I want to make some banana pudding. I hate bananas, but I found this recipe for it that looks delicious.

Speaking of pudding, I love rice pudding as well. I also like the Indian yogurt balls that are like pancake balls, and.....there's this other Indian desert....I don't know what it's called, but it's this white liquidy stuff with these matzo ball kind of things in it.....I could drink that stuff.
