Liar Game volume 1

Following the recommendations given on this thread, I have decided to give it a try. I am always a fan of mind games, and enjoy that part so far. I am counting on Nao getting less annoying sooner rather than later. Also, the character's mouths hang open a lot. Its weird.

Liar Game volumes 2-6

It gets better, quickly. Even Nao is kind of cool, despite the crying. Although I have doubts about the whole premise of the "Liar Games Tournament", I do like its particulars. I especially love all the game theory.

I've caught up in the Haruhi light novels, which is up to volume 9. I can see why people are unhappy that the author has left the series hanging for almost two years now. But the stuff that goes beyond the scope of the anime (likely even further than the second season) is really interesting. The author has done a really good job tying events and details together, especially between some really early volumes with stuff in the later ones.

Just finished Monster volume 18 (final part). What an intense and amazing series. It was a very good volume but I was a bit disappointed - I expected a bigger pay-off at the end.

Recently, I've been reading Papillion by whoever the author of Peach Girl was. XD
Every time I see a new volume in my local Barnes and Noble, I sit down and read it. >w<
I feel like I should be ashamed because it's just drama, pure and simple, but it's so addictive. I guess it's a girl thing. XD

Anyway, the art style is one of the better ones I've seen recently in shojo manga (I am a very picky person though) and the book actually incorporates some psychology so it feels more "real." The releases are so slow, though... T_T

Liar Game volume 7 + assorted chapters

Good so far. I look forward to the rest of it. I did notice a realism error, however.
Blank ammunition may not have bullets in them, but they do contain enough gunpowder to expel gas out the end of a gun barrel at dangerous velocities. In other words, placing a gun loaded with blanks up to their temple and pulling the trigger would have killed them. It happens in real life all of the time.
20th Century Boys volume 1-2

I am impressed with the learning curve on this story. With all of the characters, places, and time periods, I didn't really get my bearings until about halfway through volume 2.

Shaman King KangZengBang

I know how it ends, and it's about the same tenor as everything else, but I still have to love chapter 297 now that I've actually seen it. If we could pretend that the series ended right there, my opinion of Shaman King would do a complete inversion.

Zero

This manwha has one of the least coherent power hierarchies of anything I've ever read. As someone who likes complex/detailed tiers, my patience is wearing thing fairly quickly.
I didn't like how prince Canute changed for the worse, challenging God,even to the extent of thinking that he could do a better job of building a Utopia or paradise. Apart from that It's still good, and getting better.
@Fish: Bokurano = bad end? Is it worth investing time in, then? The story sounds interesting but the art is dull, so I'm on the fence.

Haven't really been keeping up on manga since my Interwebs are so unstable in TW... Looking for something short and sweet and low-maintenance, anyone have recs please?

It's a vicious cycle. Nothing is concluded, even less is explained. I'm not even inclined to think the author ever planned on going that far. Everyone is simply trapped in a cruel system that simply exists and will continue to exist, forever. Nothing lasting is achieved.

Though arguably, there isn't really any other way he could have ended it, but I still found it incredibly unsatisfying.

Wonderful characters though.

Volume 5 of the cult classic Battle Royale now. It's a bit less good than I expected (mostly due the characters being incredibly cliché to the point of looking like caricatures of the archtypes they are based in. Also the unnecesary gory detail); however the premise is really strong and the art, totally over the top.

Interesting. The artwork is beautiful as well. But the violence is there is all its hideous glory so beware.

I hit BAM a couple days ago! Ahh~ Such satisfaction.

Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time vol. 4

Eisen, my favorite Guardian, is on the cover. Very spiffy! I love this series.

La Corda d'oro vol. 1

It seems my new favorite mangas are based after video games that won't see the light of day in the West. -_- I plan on finishing this great series, also.

13th Boy - vol. 1

More for my Manhwa addiction! They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but I did with Magical JxR and this title. I'm not through with this one, though.

+Anima vol. 5

Another great series. I haven't bought any for this one in a long time, so I thought I should. I try to even out my Manga buying. ^.~
