Finished FMA volume 8, which is the last of my stash for now and unfortunately I'll need to save a bit before I can buy some more.

FullMetal Alchemist vol. 23

I've tried to predict what volume FMA is going to end on, but by this point it's pretty futile. There's still just so much to wrap up, none of which should be rushed.

Shaping up to probably be one of the longest Final Arcs I've ever read though.

Recently, I finished:

Kodomo no Omocha: It's a pretty nice story, except it really disturbed me because of how young those kids actually are. I think I needed to mentally add 3 years to everyone's age.

Aisheteruze Baby: Also pretty good, except for the part where the ending just seemed to come and the plot sort of fell off a cliff.

Genshiken: A look at what the otaku in Japan actually looks and behaves like. At first, I was all, 'dohoho, those crazy otaku'. And then I realized that I read through the entire thing and understood everything they were talking about.

Hikaru no Go: Pretty interesting. Standard shounen sports manga, I guess. I did like what happened to Sai. I didn't like the ending. I wasn't paying attention to how much was left, so I sort of got to it and went, really? That's it?

Higurashi, Yoigoshi-hen: A manga-only side arc, surprisingly featuring Mion, in a timeline where Rena blew up the schoolhouse, taking place 20 years afterward. Pretty cool, mostly because of Mion being awesome.

And now I'm reading 21st Century Boys 12, and once I'm done with that, Rurouni Kenshin.

At the moment, I'm only reading naruto, but I'd love to find full translations of all the Higurashi and Umineko manga... It's just that none of them EVER seem to get finished. It's really disheartening to have the manga stop about 3 or 4 issues in, and see "oh, it hasn't been updated since January 08..." I read the manga version of Himatsubushi-hen, and loved all the extra detail we didn't get in the anime version.

Not much to say, really, except that I like the fact that Urasawa is mixing up his narration style a bit.

Trigun Maximum vol. 14 COMPLETED

I have no idea what is going on in half of these panels. Decent ending, I suppose, though it felt like it should have come a lot earlier, but I imagine most of you know how I feel about Trigun by this point.

Had a look at a new-ish series by Ume Aoki, who did Hidamari Sketch, called Tetsunagi Kooni. It's about a girl who takes in an Oni child she finds on the street. It's a slice-of-life/comedy that's about the Oni learning about the human world. In a way, it's a lot like Yotsuba&! with Hidamari Sketch's art and character designs.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot - Soul Eater 61:
That's certainly something I didn't see coming at all: Justin Law. Also, Marie's weapon form in the manga is way cooler than her weapon form in the anime. These latest chapters continue to fuel my discontent with the anime adaptation's original, premature ending.
I've started Liar Game, which gives off some Death Note vibes. It's more psychology and mindgames and less god-complex. But, where I am in the manga right now, I expected to see more development and learning to not be stupid from the main girl. It's not even a problem with her being honest - she can be honest without doing stupid things by thinking logically. Gigantic facepalm. Otherwise, it's been fairly entertaining so far.
