Oh, no. No no no no. I will never be able to convince anyone anime and manga can be legitimate art ever again.
I've never read Twilight, never will either. I read the authors biography and story behind getting it published before I ever saw an advertisement for the series. The bit about sparkly guys from a conservative Mormon housewife trying to do vampires, and all in her own words, made me wonder how mass marketed fiction could sink so low. The classics people, READ them, don't hit the Cliff Notes and Wikipedia and fake it.
The only bit of Twilight I've seen is a RiffTrax mash up on Youtube. That little bit right there, wherein the cast is introduced by a catty girl while they're in a high school cafeteria, torpedoed any chance of me giving this story any respect. A high school cafeteria were the heroine gossips. Inspired art that.
