I guess it's a good thing that I didn't really bother with the first anime series then. XD

I'll have to check this out sometime. Preferably when there are some more eps available.

YUI opening = awesome.

Miki Shinichiro is a little off though for Ryo.

I'm so glad I decided to actually watch this. IT WILL BE AMAZING.

I can't wait for the OP single to come out.

Roy didn't sound bad at all. I think most of the unease that I felt when hearing him was because up until a week ago, I was listening to him being Lockon for a few months.

I can't believe I typed Ryo. TOO MUCH BOYBAND FANGIRILING imma stop now.

Miki was pretty good for this episode of Roy, but he does sound a little too straight (NOT as in the opposite of gay!). I think Okawa is a little more fluid, which gives his Roy a bit more of an unpolished and natural feel. Although Miki is great at kind of suave, cool roles, I wonder if his will be too... even, I guess. Also, Okawa sounds a little older and more badass.

Hawkeye kind of suffered the same thing. Her voice was too high D:

I could just be totally biased.

I was never a fan of the last few episodes of FMA. I am looking forward to an "alternate ending", so to speak, since I haven't read the manga. I also missed a lot of the middle-to-late episodes anyway, so this will be good.

Also, BONES is definitely my favorite studio.

This thread makes me happier every day.

I've now seen the first subbed episode a total of five times.
And I have nothing to complain about.
NOTHING AT ALL.

So apparently...

Episode 2: The Day It All Began. Basically the backstory episode, minus all the Izumi stuff.
Episode 3: City of Heresy. Cornello in Lior.
Episode 4: The Alchemist's Anguish. Shou Tucker stuff.
Episode 5: Sorrowful Rain. Scar shows up.

I've always felt the Manga really came into its own in volume 2 with Shou Tucker and Scar. Needless to say, nice though the first episode was, the new Anime hasn't really started for me till episode 4 and 5. I am really anticipating those.

And for the sake of comparison, the original Anime got to this point in around 14 episodes. Talk about tightening it up and watering it down.

One thing that I like, King Bradley did more fighting in the first ep, then he did in the FMA series. XD

So, basically, the first episode was mainly a prologue to introduced characters and kind of start things with a bang? That seems reasonable enough, I suppose.
I'm anticipating episodes 4 and 5 as well, I'm glad it's jumping into the story a LOT faster (the side stories weren't really that bad in the first series, just distracting).
I'd almost like to skip over episode 3, cause I never liked the Lior story as much as the rest of the manga, but oh well. XD;
But I think the background episode(with Ed, Al, and their mom) will still be awesome; even if it is only a repeat of what was in the previous series.

Any word on how many episodes there will be all together?

Not a word. Some time back, ANN interview from someone from BONES, and they haven't decided on the number of episodes yet.

So far, I seen a list of 13 episodes for now, which the 13th episode will air sometime in late June.

We should know later. From the looks of it as how they are not playing around with and get to the story.

I have a guess of 60-70+ episodes for this series, if not more.

FMA web site

Btw: if you to go the main Japanese's site. You will see that they did Sloth right, this time around.

I have to say, I was jumping in my seat and squeeing like no tomorrow all through the opening  :red: I'm such a fangirl.

But this is very exciting. I felt like the first episode was a little rushed, and very obviously geared towards old fans, to reassure them this'll be different from the other anime. The animation is going to take some getting used to, on my part (I'm too used to the old anime, I guess), but I have high hopes for this, especially once they get to the real story, rather than questionable plots they came up with themselves. CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK!!!! DX

Just a reminder:

The first episode is now up at the Funimation website. If at all possible, watch it there to support more of this, even if you've already seen it.

Hmm, you think if I just browse the website and click a bunch of banner ads, that'd be enough?

Heh. Watching it in gorgeous HD with pretty subs is a little more entertaining.

I'm so excited for this. I've seen the first episode with subs and I can't wait until its all released in Japan (and over here, of course!). I love FMA, but the anime had a 'weird feel' due to the face that after so many episodes, they strayed from the manga's plot and just kept going down that side trail until it was a different story all together. Having read the manga and being up to date on it, I was a little disappointed the anime didn't stick to the manga a little more closely. So heres to hoping FMA2 does (not exact, mind you, then who would want to watch it?)

The animation is different, and it'll take some adjusting, but I like it. Not to say I didn't like the other FMA's animation, but I don't mind the change. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Not only should everyone watch this on Funimation's official stream, they should watch it in Glorious High Definition, which Funi provides.

So really, if you skimp on this, you're only doing yourself a disservice.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. The first ep seemed a little rushed and unnecessary... they were basically trying to do what the Lior story did, which is introduce you to the characters by sticking you straight into the action. Sure, it's nice to see how different this is going to be, but Lior did a perfectly nice job of that without introducing too many characters.

Miki Shinichiro was decent as Roy. I feel like his voice wasn't deep enough, though. Still I honestly can't complain, because I'm so glad to hear Romi Paku and Rie Kugimiya again! <3 (Though the most recent thing I've been watching with Romi Paku is Bleach, so I keep hearing Hitsugaya XD)

Still, backstory ep should be good, so I'm hanging in there. And YUI! <3333 I love the OP.

Which actually takes me to what will be hardest to get used to - the score. The new one seems good, but Michiru Oshima is difficult to beat. Also, if they don't use Bratja, I won't get over that easily... that song was the heart and soul of the original FMA, for me.

I'll admit, I wasn't terribly excited for this, just mildly so.

Now that I've watched it, I'm stoked. I haven't felt this way about an anime for a long time, probably since Bleach's second arc. Really looking forward to next week!

Not bad, not bad. Seeing as how I have to wait a whole month to get a chapter of the manga, I think I will start following this anime to pass the time.

Is it just me, or is the streaming speed on Funi's website murderously slow? I've been trying to watch the new episode, but it keeps buffering itself every 3 seconds, and its timed-out twice so far. As much as I'd like to support the official website with my internet traffic, it seems I'm going to have to find this episode somewhere else :(

I think too many people are on the site watching it and that's why its slow. I never had this problem with watching anything on their site before, until today.
