New guy...again...(oi, this is awkward)

Postby bigsleepj » Mon Apr 12, 2004 12:31 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm obviously new here and, as usual, I'm very nervous when I introduce myself to online communities such as these. I come from a land, a faraway place, where the toyi-toyi marchers roam. I'm from South Africa, somewhere in the Pretoria region. I'm male, 23, and I work for a publishing-company. I hope to visit these forums all the more. I've been lurking (like a stealth-ninja polarbear) around these forums for a day and I hope to join in on discussions soon. Thanks.

Welcome to CAA bigsleepj.

*waves happily* Hello, bigsleepj! Stop lurking and join in the fun. Even us wolves don't bite!

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Hmmmmm. A South Africa is a country south of the equator and north of the South Pole. It has mountains, hills, cities, towns, peas, manga, chocalates, libraries and movies. What more can you ask for? :-)

A toyi-toyi marcher is a protest marcher who toyi-toyis when he's marching. The Toyi-toyi is a funny dance which can be performed by one person (and should be performed at a march). It's hard to discribe, but if I were to describe unintelligently, I'd use the word "hopping". :-) And no, I'm serious.

Heheheheheh. Well, a lot of manga and anime stores have sprung up in recent months but I haven't read any manga yet. In fact, I have two manga graphic novels on order which should arrive any day now. (Ruorini Kenshin, Vol 1). I'll have to see how it's like before I can comment. Actually, I should have had it already, but because in April in South Africa we have 5 holidays this year (usually it's 4) so all mail-orders are getting behind. Sigh...

Hi and welcome, BigSleep! ^_^ I hope you enjoy it here.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
