That girl on Ouran Highschool Host club that wanted to be the boys manager and had that obsession with Kyouya. Renga? I think her name was. I want to drop her off from a thousand foot cliff. XD

As for Renge, ugh! That's all I can say as I shove her over the edge of the grand canyon.

She's just a token stupid American AND Otaku, a twofer that really gets on my nerves... The fact she'd ignore the Greater part of Japanese culture to see Otakuish things really gets me. Of course I'd want to see the Otaku stuff (well, some it it) but I'd want to see the traditional culture, too. It's just sad that's how the creator saw Americans... It's embarrassing.
Minami is pretty 1 dimensional, though. It's like she's this GREAT friend for Yutaka, but all we ever see of her is her "pat pat, I'm so... *cough*" routine. I don't hate her, though... Just find her boring.

Monster Rancher was by no means a rip-off of Pokemon... it has a definite beginning, end, and a quite interesting plot in between. It sadly suffered from the Pokemon stigma, which I'm afraid made few people keep following after the few first episodes, but I have to say it was really good planned story, with a very dramatic and intelligent end, even if the setting and themes where a bit childish. I personally loved it and cried at the end.
