Your 3 Favorite game companies?

Postby Kenchii » Thu Apr 08, 2004 8:41 pm

Just checked around to see if there were similar threads, and didn't catch any.. so, whats your fave game companies? Mines would be

~ Capcom - Megaman, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, 1949, Giga-Wing, Tech Romancer, Jo Jo Bizare Adventure, X-Men Children of Atom, and the list goes on! My all time favorite has to be Capcom. ^^

~ Treasure - I am a HUGE collector in everything made my Treasure! A rare Japanese game company that produced such hit games as Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, and Silhouette Mirage. And other great titles like Mischeif Makers, Sin and Punishment, Bangai-O, and the list goes on! Great character designs, great ideas, great games.

~ Atlus - This used to be my all time fave, because of my favorite game of all time, Trap Gunner. But it doesnt hold that place now. Other great titles as Guilty Gear series, Kaitia, Super Dodge ball, Persona, and much more make this my 3rd favorite!

Square, Konami, Insomniac

Hey Kenchii, do you remember the old Treasure game "Dynamite Headdy" for the Genesis? Definitely one of my favorites from the 16-bit days.

id - Made Doom and Quake. Enough said.
Bioware - Baulder's Gate and NWN. Known as one of friendliest company for fan support. I mean, some expansions were out solely for their fans.
Ion Storm - Made Deus Ex and Anachronox. I need not say more.

Red Storm - cmon Tom Clancy games are cool
Rare - Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, DK64, Perfect Dark (where's the sequel?)
Nintendo - Makes some of the best and most memorable franchises ever. Who else believes they should give up on the console market to do what they do best and JUST MAKE GAMES?

The OLD Squaresoft before they merged with Enix and before they made Final Fantasy X.

I also hold much respect for Capcom -- lovely company, Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Resident Evil, Mega Man, and so much more.

Oh and Kenchii I SO agree with you on Treasure, I love Gunstar Heroes and all those fantastic shooters and side-scrolling action games in the mid 90's left a huge impact on my mind. And Bangai-O is perhaps one of the most underrated games ever.

Konami, Square-Enix, there ARE other companies? (I play silent hill, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, seiken densetsu, DDR, .hack...) I would say Bandai, but they is the devil. They hold no responsibility in making .hack. That was a fluke or something. I guess then I could say Maxis... I mean, SimTower was an awesome game! Yeah!

Numbers two and three go to...

Blizzard-Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo 2
Namco-Tekken, Soul Calibur

Honorable Mention:

Koei-Dynasty Warriors (and hopefully the upcoming Samurai Warriors!)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I dunno Kevin, Nintendo(ever since the SNES) does make some VERY relliable hardware, my GCN seems much more durable then my orignal PS2. Now if Nintendo hadn't broken off relations with Sony back in the day... they would be on top without a doubt.

Square-Enix: for Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Brave Fencer Musashi, and almost everything they've ever put out... Illusion of Gaia deserves a mention also (it's Enix... what're you gonna do?)

Capcom: for Street Fighter, all of the Vs. series, Devil May Cry, Darkstalkers, and, of course, Megaman!!! I don't care what those so-called "gamers" out there who keep bagging on Megaman because "the gameplay is always the same" have to say. I mean, come on! It's Megaman!!! Seriously, just because stuff is going 3D doesn't mean EVERYTHING does, too! Long live the Blue Bomber in all his 2D, side-scrolling, ever-varying forms of glory!!! *pant pant* Sorry, I have issues. :red: Moving on...

Konami: for Metal Gear, Castlevania, Zone of the Enders, and DDR!!!

Many honorable mentions here: SNK/Playmore (King of Fighters), Sammy (Guilty Gear), Treasure (Ikaruga), Namco (Soul Calibur), EA Games (Lord of the Rings), Sega (Sonic and Phantasy Star), Nintendo (Zelda, Pokemon GAMES, and Kirby), and many many more... who's names escape just now...
