worst christmas songs

Postby rocklobster » Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:08 pm

I love Christmas songs, but I have to admit there are some that drive me up the wall. Which ones do you hate? Here are mine:
"Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" (It's really not a funny song people)
"Do They Know It's Christmastime" (I appreciate the sentiment, but didn't you songwriters pay attention in geography? You say there are no rivers in Africa? WRONG! What about the River Nile?)
"Frosty the Snowman" (ARGH! What does this have to do with Christmas, really?:mutter:)
"Santa Baby" (it's just...creepy. And maybe it's because I don't like Eartha Kitt to begin with *shivers*)
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."
--Jeremiah 1:5

Christmas Shoes.

No, this is not one of my "snarky posts to emit lulz from people." I seriously think it's one of the worst Christmas songs ever.

That, and "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime." Ugh.

QFT. Glad I'm not the only one.

Also, "Santa Clause is Coming to Town." Santa is a CREEPER.

"Santa baby", "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and "Two Front Teeth" are all I can think of at the moment, but there are many more...

I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Santa Baby
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town
Actually, pretty much any song about Santa, Rudolph, or Frosty (sorry)
Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime (WORST SONG EVER)
And many others that I don't even care to remember the names of.

Ooh, and I HATE how they tried to make My Favorite Things a Christmas song. Just because it talks about brown paper packages tied up with strings doesn't mean it's a freaking Christmas song.

Uh really? I actually like Grandma got run over by a reindeer. If you've actually seen the special, grandma does come out fine in the end.

And plus have you listened to his other songs? If you have and know the whole story then I don't see how you could call it a bad song. Geez people, I just don't understand you guys sometimes.

Even though there are loads of Christmas songs that I hate, I'll just tolerate them. Now, the only ones that REALLY make me tetchy are any done by Elvis Presley. Blue Christmas, or whatever its name is, seems to me to be a lethal weapon that threatens all humanity. I, for one, am in favor of annihilating the threat ASAP.

Santa Baby (sounds like something a cheap hooker would sing in my opinion.)
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. (Marital infidelity with Santa!?)

With you on both counts, but the joke in the latter song is that it really is the kid's father in the Santa costume. But yes, it is a stupid song.

Actually, I pretty much can't stand most Christmas songs aside from the songs actually about the Christmas story. Most of them are fine.

"Let It Snow" and "White Christmas". Sorry, I hate the classics. Or maybe I just hate snow....

The worst Christmas song AND the saddest, EVER:

The Christmas Shoes

I HATE IT.

And my mom wants me to watch the movie. Pssshaaaaaaaw.

EDIT:
Oooh, this evil song was already mentioned. Sorry about that.

But it deserves to be hated on more than once. :mutter:

Hey, someone said White Christmas was the worst Christmas song? I actually kind of like that song. But there are some baaad versions of it out there. I prefer to hear Bing Crosby sing it.

We play a song at work during Christmas....a line from it is

"I want an Alien for Christmas this year"

I seriously want to monkey punch someone in the spine for even making that.

Ha. Found it.

Honestly, there are very few christmas songs I actually like. Project 86's "this time of the year" is great though and so is Austrian Death Machine's rendition of Jingle Bells.
