"Rath"

"As I lay dying in Aedan's Field

Body broken and fading alone

My eyes a terrible vision beheld

wings of fire and wings of stone

The Chimera moved with a screaming song

from place to place in the swarthy fog

And every dark temptation was echoed in its call...

There was a boy not half a man

dreaming angry tearing dreams

but when he awoke only a child was he

(Musical Interlude)

Well....I'm back. It's a little practice "Poem" to get me back into the swing of things. Eh.

Here, this is for you.

"En Viel" by
Sasserone

Take these eyes and paint them black

now you see as I see

take this heart and break it apart

now you bleed as I bleed

Every time I hear that name

Razor wire on my skin

Every time I see your face

All I think about is sin...

I cannot take what has been claimed

cannot call what has been named

I'm left here trying to play the game...

This is what happens when you go on Libo

You stop making sense and start singing sea shanties

Oh SLEEPER!

dreaming in great peace

you...you don't know, why the flowers grow or the weepings cease..

OH GOOD LORD.

I'm sorry about that, ladies, gents. Just alittle craziness. Trying to find my inspiration again, ja?

It's nice to see some new stuff from you, Zarn.

My favorite of your most recent three has to be Thought On a Tree. The idea of poetry becoming reality is interesting, even more so when the speaker is saying that his hand will write no more until it does become reality, or rather, the tree understands this fact. This one is definitely worth pondering over for some time.

Rath has rather strange symbolism and has a bit of horror in it's description(that may just be me though). I'd probably have to read this a lot over time in order to get anywhere close to its full meaning. I'm rather curious on what the Musical Interlude would sound like though.

En Viel has a very choppy pattern to it, yet it the feelings conveyed and the imagery(for example: razor wire on my skin) are very powerful.

My first impression after I read Rules On A Theme was something like a reaction of "What the?" But then, after I read it through a few more times, I found it quite humorous, oddly enough.

As for this last "craziness", as you describe it, seems very much unfinished and the two lines themselves can hardly stand on their own. Though, they do have potential for being part of a bigger peice. I look forward to seeing what you will do with them(if you do plan on anything).

Now, out of curiosity, what kinds of things give you inspiration for your writings? o.o

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Rath is something I spit on the spot, En viel was written during training, and that last bit of nonsense was simply my brain overloaded with knowledge spitting out crap. Headspace, for example, is a machine-gun term, and shift fire is where an infantry unit attacks a retreating enemy right behind a big gun bombardment (Artillary). It's just random crap.

That last thing was me reaching real high and flopping down....really low. Give me...awhile, mebbe I can get something REAL together.

I put some bricks upon my window I
Didn't want to look outside
I thought a girl would walk by and then
I would have to say something polite
And I just didn't feel like being a gentleman today. Because, To be perfectly honest

I miss

Love. I mean, Stars above, friends, whats a world without love? Of course you know what I mean, you lucky men, lying in the arms of your wives. And you, dear sisters, the delight of my brother's eyes! But I

Well...

I'm alone tonight. Walking down the city street,
Watching the people smile It's a good feeling
But its hollow inside.

I'd like to call this girl I know But she's otherwise engaged
Maybe I'll call my brother Ask him how the Party Life is going not that I would know.

So can you just hook me up? I mean,
It's not like I'm looking for Romance. Well, Perhaps I am
but you shouldn't hold it against me. Because I've sang songs in empty rooms
always singing to my "wife"

But HOW can I keep singing to her

When I haven't found her?

I guess I'll just smile, nod, and go back to my room

Read a book, sweep
And right before I go to sleep

I'll be thinking of love, and how to get it. Okay?

What would I do

to forget the demon

as I lay cradling

the rose of Sharon

The shadows fall around me

don't crush the petals

clinging to tightly

will I be able to hold on after all?

All the bloody trails those kisses left

thorns on my head, thorns in my hands

Make me wake up to the sounds of weeping

but in your eyes I see

a world with no shadows

because you are my Light

Gloriously Bright

Burn out my eyes with beauty

the last thing I saw was your face bent to kiss me

and eyes brimming with crystal tears

showing me a road with no stop-signs

nothing to keep me from coming back

from this place with no windows, and no doors

and creaking floors that hide rust and frustation

but in this humble house I can still break the silence

I'm coming closer to the life I broke into

when I stole all your love

Why did I give it all back

with such foolish generousity?

The tides come

the tides go out again

when daylight dies

your heart will be in love again

with me.

Well...I'm back.

Back indeed. That [last one] was rather good. I haven't gotten a chance to read the others yet, but the words kinda jumped off the monitor at me in that one. I like the sudden cut to urban imagery in the 4th block and the overall chaotic contrast it creates between the Biblical symbolism and esoteric struggle. Nicely done, comrade.

"Aleleluia,

This is for the people

who still cry in church

Who stand at the altar and confess

Those who shout for joy

at the saving of a soul

and pray nightly

for wandering souls and weary hearts.

Hallalujah

This is for the Mercy Seat

from which a river of Blood flowed

"Shall we gather at the river?"

To wash away our sins

and all our shame

Abba Father

This is for the longing heart

that hears you, and believes

and daily waits upon your Voice

to speak from Heaven

to call us home

Jesus, Savior

my heart of shut doors

and empty rooms

I give to you.

A thousand nights of shame,

A million words of pain

I surrender to you, Jesus.

This is not my poem. This is her poem. So tonight, I use this place to celebrate her.

I just finished talking to you
And I'm sad your voice has gone away
I'm waiting for you to come back like you always do
I wish so much that I had more to say

And it's like a winter day
When you're curled up by the fire
A day so cold but you're warm inside
For once not stressed or tired

And a boy cries out to the night
Wishing someone could be there
Wondering when someone will hold him tight
And appreciate how much he tries to care

I just finished talking to you
And I admit, I'm a little scared
Afraid I'll wake up tomorrow morning
And you won't really be there

And it's like a spring evening
When the sun is shining just right
And you sit so close together
Peaceful in the fading light

And a boy stares up at the stars
Wondering if one is for him to keep
Trying not to wish but wishing so hard
For someone to hold him as he falls asleep

I just finished talking to you
And I wait so long for you to reply
It feels like I'm waiting for years and years
When only seconds have gone by

And it's like a summer storm
When you're scared but someone holds your hand
Inside you feel so nice and warm
Like sinking your toes in the sand

And a boy doesn't know what to say
Does he just want the love of anyone?
He's terrified it will fade away
And he's not the only one

I just finished talking to you
And I never knew one could understand
The silent words I keep inside
But you're leading me gently by the hand

And it's like the Autumn leaves
As they fall softly to the ground
I know you'll catch me if I fall
Keep me safe and sound

And a boy has been waiting far too long
For the words he wishes to hear
Words that could finally melt his heart
Words that he could hold dear

I just finished talking to you
And more than anything I think you should know
That when I'm silent what I really mean
Is I love you, I love you so

And a girl is looking up at the stars
Wondering the very same thing
Waiting quietly in the falling snow
To see what tomorrow may bring
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole

Beautiful poetry, the mix of seasonal words and descriptions shows an excellent passage of time and it has sad-melancholy but wonderful texture to it.

"Underneath"

Flowing below

Composed of fragile, rapid breaths

the rise and fall of Victory's chest

so cold,

where her heart is

so baffled by what has happened

so natural, so suprising

The place her soul goes

when nothing happens

the house is cavernous

absent from the building

present with the Lord

who can understand

what passes between two people

who meet too late?

"Meath"

the fleeting glimpse of a reflection

in a silver pool

is shattered by a gentle breeze

rolling from the moon

Her silver arc

sheathed by clouds

And the beams of light

so gentle, so bright

on the mouth of the cave

brushing against it

like fingers

through a lover's hair

The trees of obisdian and green

are bronze pillars

without eyes

where the gentle breeze

retreats back to the sky

the pine needles also breathe

as the clouds unveil the moon

her light burns bright upon the silver pool

and reveals again

the rippling recollection

of what barely could be seen.
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself

Poetry Isn't Visible

"Poetry is not a visual art,

by any stretch of the imagination.

I would rather it was different of course;

I'd love to show you what I write

but words are just words for a reason. Art is, well...

difficult, and to be honest, painting comes to me as easy, as...

quantum mechanics. There are a few visual things that can be done, like

dancing around as you speak, dispersing lazer-light shows, that sort of thing...

but eventually you just rely on other mediums to try and boost the poetry. In and of itself, Poetry just isn't a "Visual" art."

"Notes In Arizona"

"Day goes by quick, if you're in the right places

when there isn't much to do but drive all day

you'll be shocked when the eternity behind the wheel ends. Watch the jack-rabbits run through the desert as you speed by, the way the air kisses the cresote. You'll realize what time it was, and that you drove straight through the afternoon. Call your mother, tell her you aren't coming over for dinner. stop by that rock, that's what happens, in the middle of the desert, after driving all day.

"Sitting on that rock
You can forget quite alot
you can if you try. Of course, most people want to be in love, and you aren't any kind of exception. But when you reason it out, it seems it all ends the same way no matter what happens. Why try, when you won't find the "One"? After all, nobody believes in that anymore. But, well...Maybe, if you can try to believe it, someone else will believe it too

And maybe you can be the one for each other. That seems right."

Some prose for your soul, I suppose. I don't know, but I do find alittle bit of peace in the writing, so maybe there's something there for the reading too.

Butterflies explode past me
to brush like feathers against my face

perched on a crag high above creation
floating flowers whisper by on slight swells

little breezes that blow by me
running through my hair

the world so grand around me is the

untouchable painting

If I reach out

can't change it

can't do anything but watch the clouds

birthing and dying upon the horizon shore.

I can't show you the door to heaven. The best I can do is give you the feeling one gets...right after the movie is over, right before the credits start to roll, the emotional high when you see that things...really did turn out for the best.

There is an "No, Really" element in poetry, like waking up and realizing it DIDN'T kill you. Like waking up in Rivendell, you might say. Of course, that's another element, wanting to leave the world behind and go, to paradise, to the world behind the hill, whatever you have it be. That's what I like to capture in my poetry. It's not a door to heaven, but neither is it a false promise. If only more people realized what heaven was...like coming home after a journey so long you forgot where home was, to your own hearth and heath, if they could realize exactly that the feeling you get when you see your favorite character returning to their place, or reaching into the stars...If they could realize that those are feelings, and indeed, emotions of heaven...

Well, things would be quite a bit better. Because life is just a step, and death is but a door.

"Underneath" was probably my favorite piece out of all of them. I found "Poetry isn't visual" to be ironic and sort of funny, however, to be quite honest, it reall doesn't seem too original. "Notes in Arizona" was a nice change of pace.

Four Poems

"Devil Dog"

"I am a Dog Of War
I roam by myself

my paws ruin the grassy field
with blood stains
and red rust

I destroy the forests
to birth seige engines
ripping the dirt with my teeth
forms up trench lines

I come when you call
shouting in anger
Your fury summons me
It makes me breath again

One day

you will call to me

I will not answer

I'll be a dead dog

asleep in the cold ground."

"Devil Dog: Impressions"

"Where the dogs of war go

to distand lands
the tigers of our thought
slip silently behind
broken cages release ravens
carrying my stories to heaven

Rings of water, slipping down
the honey mountain
my eyes have become ember pools
with chunks of chrystal at the bottom.

My life has become an Iron City
Run by a parliment of Ghosts
Its streets of silver chains
flow silently to its center

A gloom of half lit lamps caresses every corner
The firelight filtered through the darkened glass
of a lantern dimly lit."
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole

"789"

7 is the sum of
4 dancing maidens and
3 burning lanters
6 crying children with
only 1 parent

8 is the face of
four moonless oceans
four frightened patrol guards
5 open windows
3 roaring fires

9 is complete in
seven Seraphim in the
2 burning grounds
with the 8 eyes of God in
Only One Heaven."

Elegant and pristine, have you tried publishing any of this to a real poetry source? I think you should! I think they're getting to the point where they are ready for that stage. It doesn't pay good money at all, but it is a source of pride among authors to be published, and I think you should give a shot at it.

I thought the poem 789 was excellent and original. I also liked those about the devil dog (though it seems like one poem to me).

Just out of curiosity, have you thought of self-publishing your poems?

I like the Devil Dog and Devil Dog: Impressions poems.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Some things I've been writing for abit:

"Chapter 1: Rambling"
From: "The Sojourn"

"The last branch of a dying tree
stands proudly as the day fades
tears glisten in our eyes as an age ends
all images die away

all things become frustration
and battered memories

Busted dreams carry my hopes back home
in shattered chariots
Riding on the black wind come wolves of confusion
Delusions snake lines of chains around my body
I find it odd to let things go. I wish it would end...

Her heart is waiting
if not here, then in heaven
I have anticipated, so long, the shape of her on the horizon
that she may sneak up behind and suprise me.

Give me a door to what never-will-be
Let me find a way to reweave
the tapestry
Till it shows my every precious thing
achieved.

"Give me a kiss from one gently broken; let our wounds flow together
till our pain is united and our hearts
last forever."
With your doubt, all is comfort
We are all as we appear
No more questions left unanswered
No more wonder, no more fear
Nothing is beauty, nothing's feeling
Blood where there once was a soul
So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole
