Hahahahahaha PROBLEM SOLVED NEVERMIND. XD Though I would still like to know how to avoid this kind of thing in the future, so carry on, dear reader. XD

Putting this in Jam Session because I figured music lovers would know more about iPods than the general crowd in the Computing forum. XD I may be wrong, but whatever, this is where it's going for now. XD

So here's the issue: I have a 30-gig, 5th gen iPod (pretty sure it's 5th gen, at least--I kind of lost count. XD It's got a very thin body, though). Ever since I started using the iHome (iPod speaker/alarm/radio set) that I got, my iPod will totally freeze every once in a blue moon. This has happened once before, and holding down the center button and the play button will not reset it.

Instead, I have to reset the system entirely, which means that I have to re-load all 3000+ songs that I have back on to the iPod. This has a tendency to take days. I really don't want to have to do it again, because this only happened the first time about three or four months back. XD Has anyone had any similar issues with the iHome and their iPods? Also, is there any way to reset my iPod without losing all of the data? Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated, 'cause I'd love to have my music back. XD

(For the record, I do have all of my music backed up on my external hard drive, so if worse comes to worst, I do have the means to restore everything that would be lost. I'm just trying to see if there's another way first, not to mention I'd like to get to the bottom of this issue so it doesn't happen a third time. XD)

Thanks in advance for any help!

This has happened to me before, as well. A grand total of about 6 times. The first time, it wouldn't shut off, switch song, or anything.

Here is what I do every time, and it only takes a minute or so.

1: Switch the Hold switch to on, then immediately back to off.
2: Hold down the Center and Menu buttons until you see the Apple icon on the screen (although it may be hard to see, as it has the back-light disabled at this time.)

It fixes it right up every time. If nothing else, this may help someone else who wanders in here. XD
