Judging by the review, I'll check into this one more and probably buy it eventually. How did you guys like it?. To me it looks like a gun tootin' good time.

It was alright. Though parts of it have a lot of action, it's really more of a story about the characters. The overall flashback works well in the context of the series. Ultimately, however, the ending disappointed me. While having the characters shift ages was a nice cinematic touch, the actual events were fairly predictable and I don't think they were trying to make a statement about the inevitability of death.
However, it is amusing to note that except for the girl, everyone with a name dies.
I found when I was watching it on the old Anime Unleashed that the first couple of episodes were a bit slow.It got better after they started on the
Brandon/Maria storyline.

As for me, I thought Gungrave was awful. The story dragged on forever, the characters weren't interesting (save for Brandon Heat), the story lacked originality, and the ending was lackluster.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Though it is pretty slow...

The language is really hardcore in the first vol.! I hear that this does not continue throughout the rest of the series correct?

In the first volume (episodes 1-4) or so, the language is fairly "racy" but after that, cursing almost disappears from the series.

I'm relatively certain it wouldn't have been quoted if it wasn't. Trust them.

From my viewing of the series, yes, that's accurate. We try to edit our reviews before approving them, if there is anything we feel doesn't represent the series.
