How do you create your own website?

Postby ~darkelfgirl~ » Tue Dec 18, 2007 2:52 pm

 I didn't know whether to put this in "Tutorials" or here, so I just put it here. Sorry for any inconveniences!

Um, I've seen some CAAers websites and I thought it would be cool to have my own to put my current and future work on there...

How exactly do you create a website? (Sorry, I'm not that smart with tech stuff).

First you got to consider what kind of software to use. I guess you already have notepad, which you can google to find some decent tutorials. If you aim higher then you might want to look at bigger programs like Dreamweaver or Flash and check out what suits you better. First you got to get familiar with the software whereas you will have to learn alot of codeing and how things work. Meaning that alot of research is required and if it gets too hard, I'd recomend a takeing a class.

I personaly like Flash in terms of createing a website. You can of course get both dreamweaver and flash which at most times you can combine for great results. However I personaly feel that useing dreamweaver at times is like driveing on the road whereas you have strict directions on where to go while flash is a bit more like sailing in the ocean, where you can go in all sorts of directions. Still, check out reviews and tutorials on both programs before you set out to buy one. Both are very expensive and great at what they do. There are other alternative programs of course.

For starters I'd recomend this site for you.

There is alot of theory when it comes to constructing a website, but pratice makes perfect. Other than that it is very technical, but once you memorise the guidelines then it should not be a problem. :)
