Hello everyone

Postby Tyrel » Sat Nov 17, 2007 1:23 pm

Hello awesome,

So I'm surfing through the internets, going through my usual forums and just surfing, you know, 'cause that's what I do. And what do I find but the most wicked awesome name for a site "Christian Anime Alliance" and think to myself; "Oh shooouoooot, what a wicked awesome name for a site! Hey, wait a second, I'm a Christian. I Love anime, and I'm all for alliances.. you know.."

erhm, yeah, so naturally I found it irresistible to join. Then, I notice that Theologyweb, which is where I got the link looking through some threads, is who you redirect arguments to, calling it "Theology Smack down". I must say, as to the aesthetics of this site thus far, I am most definitely impressed.

So, it was a done deal. Allow me to introduce myself;

I'm Tyrel. I hang out at Theology Web, along with various other forums online I've deemed useful, along with starting my own soon enough {though it's still just being set up, bit by bit}. I am quite "in to" anime, and have been for about a year now. The list of series' which I've seen, to give you all an Idea what my experience is, is as follows;

Kenshin
Kenshin OVA
Hellsing
Ultimate Hellsing {OVA}
Ergo Proxy
Blood +
Blood – The Last Vampire
Dead Aggressor
Nadesico
Wolf's Rain
Last Exile
Fate Stay Night
Naruto
Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex
Vision of Escaflowne
Basilisk
Animatrix, The
Serial Experiments lain
Princess mononoke
Howl's Moving Castle
Final Fantasy; Advent Children
Gunslinger Girl
Witch Hunter Robin
Rozen Maiden
Snow Queen
Jigoku Shoujo – {Hell Girl}
Elfen lied
Death Note
Trigun

and I'm currently watching;

Pumpkin Scissors
Claymore

Well, there you have it. So, I suppose all that is left is really for me to introduce my person. Well, as I said, I'm a Christian, and I suppose I have fairly unique views, but I do not consider myself theologically ignorant, or incompetent. I Enjoy music more than anime, I must say, but Music is, for me, amazingly helpful. I have a grand collection of CD's, growing to what must be at least over 200 by now. I spent a good $500.00 on CD's this summer, so that, in combination with what I had, might well come out to that. While I can appreciate different types of music, I'm most partial to Hardcore and Metalcore, such as Zao, or August Burns Red.

you can check samples out at http://www.purevolume.com/nameofbandwithoutspacesinbetweenwords

Other than that, I suppose I'm a fairly regular guy. I'm a student, aspiring to move on to studying Theology at university, and perhaps, once obtaining a Doctored, teaching at the university or Cegep level {a level probably foreign to you if you haven't lived in Quebec}.

Umm...so let's see.. that covers, my name... my interests... my goals and dreams in life.... my spending habits.. my reason for being interested in CAA... If you are still reading this you try too hard..

let's see, other than that... I dunno.. I like long walks.. not beaches.. I also like long bike rides.. around places... you know.. and, ah, yeah.. Chocolate.. definitely a winner in my books. yeah.

:grin:

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."

Welcome Tyrel to the CAA! You seem to be very diverse in your watching anime just after one year. Yeah, I like some of those anime as well more specifically Naruto, Fate/Stay Night, Death Note, Trigun, and the Hayou Miyazaki movies you have up there. I think you might like Cowbow Bebop, Yu Yu Hakasho, Samurai Champloo, and Case Closed for starters. Well I hope to see you around the forums! Have a great time Tyrel!

Yeah, I eat it up. Like I said.. I love anime.

However, in spite of this, I still have a huge "to watch list".

Curiously enough, I have pruned out certain anime series such as "Cowbow Bebop", and "Samurai Champloo".

I don't particularly enjoy anime type comedy or humour. So, for example, I really didn't like Trigun, much at all. I loved Blood+, Ergo Proxy, Lain, Death Note, Wolf's Rain, and others of that nature. Notice, they didn't have any, or much, anime humour in them.

While I don't mind it from time to time, I still find it often takes away from a show, rather than adds to it. Sometimes, however, I agree it is well placed.

The other thing I don't like about such anime's as Samurai Champloo, Bleach, Naruto and others, is that they move far too slowly, and are typically too comercial to stick to a simple yet involving plot which is eloquently woven together, and then ends appropriately. They are sort of "open ended" in the sense that, if the show/manga stops being popular, they can end it, and if it continues to gain popularity, they can continue it.

I guess I'm just not a fan of that. Now, I admit to being addicted to Shippuden, { :red: }, but that's sort of something I'd like to avoid for future.

My current "to watch" list, consists of;

Monster
Shakugan no Shana
RahXephon
Evangelion
Trinity Blood
Ninja Scroll
Noir
Blood alone
Chrono Crusade
Full Metal alchemist
Perfect Blue

If you're interested in seeing Monster, then let me recommend not only the Monster manga, but also 20th Century Boys, by the same manga-ka (Naoki Urasawa). Both are really, really excellent series.

Also, looking at your list of anime and list of anime you want to see, I'd also like to recommend Satoshi Kon's Paprika and a newer, yet-unlicensed series, Baccano!. And as long as you're looking into FullMetal Alchemist, be sure to check out the manga, too! Welcome to CAA!
