Quiz Game Site: Which pic is Gran Turismo 5 (vs. Reality)?

Postby Omega Amen » Sun Oct 07, 2007 6:49 pm

Saw this on another forum site, and I thought it would be a quick, cool experiment for all CAA gamers, even for ones who do not normally follow/care about car games. Please give it a shot; it only takes a couple minutes.

This site posts pics of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue cars side-by-side with pics of the same car in reality. You try to pick the Gran Turismo picture. There are a total of 15 comparisons, and you get a point for each Gran Turismo picture you pick correctly, bringing the highest possible total to 15 points.

When I tried, I got 9 points.

Post the score you got! I am very curious how far car video games have come in simulating the look of real cars.

I got 11 points.

While it's not a truly fair real life vs game comparison (pictures are cropped, and low res) this is an impressive display of what we have to look forward to. Racing games have always sported some of (if not THE) best models in games, and the Gran Turismo series has always stood apart from the crowd with few true peers. Can't wait to play the finalized game.

12 points for me. I looked for imperfections ~ the less perfect, the more likely it's the real deal.

I thought PGR4 looked pretty impressive too... I have a hard time taking screenshots from Sony games as the real deal at times, because in the past they said screenshots of some games were "in game" shots, when they ended up being rendered shots or whatever. I'm sure these may be for real, but I am just saying... lol they are pretty impressive if they are the actual screenshots. I have enjoyed the past GT games, so this will be no different. Love me some racing. I should have a PS3 by the time it is out... MAYBE. I'm not ready to spend the money yet :p

While it is not completely fair, I do like this comparison in particular since it made quite an effort to capture the real life cars in the same camera angle.

This is the real deal. You will get that level of detail on (and in) the car as you play the game. Click here to go to Gametrailers section for GT5 Prologue, and look at any of the GC 2007 Walkthrough or Developer videos (in HD if you want). Check out the trailers. This is for real, absolutely.

Probably the best trailer, I think is on Gamespot, Click here to view it. I have not seen a direct feed yet, but I still like the end driving through the city streets with that fantastic lighting.

Just curious, what score did you get? The reason I am asking is that I want to see scores with gamers of different tastes, dedication, and particularly exposure to car simulator games.

That's pretty sweet then... something I have been wanting forever is a realistic gear shifter to go with a force feedback racing wheel. I love to drive for real, but this way is much cheaper gas wise. :p

I actually looked a lot at backgrounds, when they were there. :O And I've never played Gran Turismo before.

8. I didn't post earlier because too few of my choices were based on a strong impression. Chances are if I took it again my score would be different. For the record, however, I have no interest in cars or the simulation thereof.

I got 12. Some looked almost like the same screen shot, but I have a very discerning eye.

Either way, those graphics are really impressive.
