If Sora's going to be in Brawl, then I'm sure Nintendo wouldn't mind asking for permission from more than one company...especially if it means their game will sell.

Still looking forward to seeing the Blue Blur in the game as another third-party character.

^-^ true actually I'm hoping more that Susuki Samurai can make it. At one point I even had an idea of what all his moves would be!! ^_^lol

who's the Blue Blur though?

Ooh, I'm excited. :3 The Subspace Army looks fun... I loved the R.O.B. and Petey Pirahna appearances. And was that Bullet Bill that hit Mario? I like how they seem to be incorporating Nintendo stuff into the story. It looks like it's going to be really fun!

Possibly, I tend to think it was like a solified version of the goop Petey Piranha spits out in Mario Sunshine though. But ya never know

Yeah but now I'm confused. I thought he was owned by Rare and that only one of the DK gang owned by nintendo was Donkey Kong. Is this a second 3rd party character??

Nintendo retained the rights to all Donkey Kong related characters.

I'm glad to finally see Diddy Kong in the fay. He and Meta Knight were characters that I originally wanted to see in Melee.

meboecker already covered this, but I'll state it more clearly. Donkey Kong is Nintendo's property. K. Rool was an original character created by Rare, same as with Diddy, Dixie, etc. Banjo also falls into this category.

Rare is now owned by Microsoft. So it's a safe bet that you won't be seeing any Rare characters in Smash Bros.

Isn't Diddy covered under the rights to "Donkey Kong Jr"? They always struck me as different permutations of the same character.

I feel they wasted a character slot putting Diddy Kong in, frankly. I've never really liked the DK universe at all. I hope people enjoy him, though. I REALLY hope they didn't swap Diddy for Marth. That'd bother me.

I'd really like to see Midna in Brawl. That would be awesome.

Diddy Kong was seriously the one character I most wanted to see as a new character in Brawl. Actually though, I think Dixie Kong would have been even better. Unfortunately I doubt she'll ever make it; she hasn't even made it into any Mario games like Diddy has. Since I immensely enjoyed the Donkey Kong Country games, I really wanted to see more than just one character from that series.

Hey, I'm still praying for Ridley, Pikmin, and the Ouendan to make an appearance. XD

We all have our prefrences and favorites. And that's why Smash appeals to such a large group of people. I'm not a fan of F-Zero at all, but to the F-Zero fans, they get a slice of it. So everyone can be happy. (Unless the Ouendan don't make it. Then I will be most unhappy. DUN DUN DUN!)

An Animal Crossing track was revealed for (you guessed it) the Animal Crossing stage. I do like the song, but I feel like it could have been done a little better, maybe :/ I don't know. It's still pretty cool. Go K.K. Rider was one of my favorites from the original Animal Crossing.

Looks like they're also announced Yoshi's final smash. I've got to say that I really like this one. It brings me back to the whole "Blue shell, Red shell, Yellow shell" thing from Super Mario World where Yoshi could fly, breathe fire, or stomp the ground if he ate each respective shell.

I never knew Yoshi could look so graceful and majestic.

I don't know, It could be. But if you go to wikipedia.com and type in Donkey Kong Country you'll see that in Cranky Kong's bio it states that Cranky Kong is the Original Donkey Kong from the 1981 game. So that makes Diddy... Donkey Kong Jr. JR.? Just a fun little fact there I thought you'd enjoy.

No. The rights to the characters associated with the "Donkey Kong" name were retained by Nintendo. Donkey Kong is Nintendo's original IP, not Rare's. The character's that came from Rare as original IP's, such as Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie, were retained by Rare. Hence why we can get the Donkey Kong Country games on VC, but not Perfect Dark or Banjo Kazooie.

Just a head's up since you seem to be a Banjo Kazooie fan: Banjo Threeie was announced for Xbox 360.

Snake made it, so I wouldn't say Banjo is out of the question. The likelyhood is considerably lower, though, since Nintendo doesn't own the rights themselves. They can't get TOO many third party characters, I'm sure.

Actually, Sonic's shot at inclusion is rather slim at the moment, although he was the most requested 3rd party character in a Nintendo survey last year, followed shortly by Megaman.

I don't see you providing any evidence against Isaac's inclusion XP
Does Nintendo own the rights for the character? I know they published the game. If they do own the rights, then I would say the chances are at least decent of Isaac appearing.

Anyway, it looks like chances of King Dedede appearing are around 100%. Dedede was a character that Sakurai actually created himself, and he was planned to be a playable character in both previous Smash Bros. but for some odd reason he got cut both times. (This is according to IGN)

Edit: Here's the quote from IGN:

"Few fans realize how close this plump and pudgy penguin has come to playability in the past. King Dedede is the classic recurring villain of the Kirby franchise, and he was created by Masahiro Sakurai – the man who is now the game director for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Because of the close ties and shared creative leadership between the Kirby and Smash brands, the hammer-wielding, wacky monarch of the Dream Land kingdom was actually a part of the planned design for Smash Bros. from the very beginning, and he could have shown up as early as the original Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64. Sakurai held him back, though, in both that game and in Melee – but his time might have come now. With the confirmation of fellow Kirby universe character Metaknight as a playable newcomer, Masahiro seems to have finally decided that it's OK to include more of his own in-house mascots."

Actually, who is included isn't a major concern for me because the likely candidates aren't characters I particularly like. I'll have to learn to play against some new people but the bigger issue will be if Kirby becomes usable again or I'll need to switch characters.

I'd say 59.7-82.66% is more accurate. Based on, you know, the statistics.
