their new cd is coming out on september 18th and is called "The Flame in All of Us"

after hearing the sample tracks I can barely wait for the new cd to come out. This is definitely going to be their best so far.

Rawkfist is like their most horrible song...and is by NO MEANS a representation of their style. Its like they just did that song to have fun and yell... and for some reason that NO ONE can guess it got popular.

I was SICK when that song got popular. If you are basing your opinon of them on that song you should listen to more of their songs. The rest of phenomnon is actually PRETTY GOOD besides that song and the art of breaking is pretty good too. Has alot more variety then phenomnon. But I think this new cd will blow both of those cds out of the water. It sounds like they have grown as musicians. They also have a new producer and I think he is taking their sound in a much more mature sounding direction.

Uhm... But they haven't made a single rapcore album since Set it Off....

The album Phenomenon had a few nods to the genre But their isn't a single rapcore song on "The art of Breaking"

The music they do now is just hard rock. Extremely catchy hard rock.

And although I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics (although I do like the lyrics for "Phenomenon" and "Hurt") They are anything but whiny...

I feel like your basing all of your opinions on ONE record.... Which is really unfair since once they release "The flame in all of us" they will have had three since then. Not only that but that record is something like 8 years old. The band has REALLY matured since then.

Oh I know... hehe I have actually been stalking the Jam Session for a while so I have gotten used to seeing his comments all over.

Thats what actually persuaded me to respond. I have seen him be VERY close minded to bands he seems to have made up his mind on without listening to everything the band has to offer.

I guess I just get sad when I see people do this.. I feel as if they are keeping themselves from finding some truly great music.

I personally listen to almost anything out their and I listen to it thoroughly before making a decision about it. Just like I personally dislike all of Casting crowns music... I have listened to their first two cd's completely and I still found nothing that I personally found appealing. I hear that they either have a new one or are coming out with a new one.... and I plan on listening to that one completely too just to see if their music or my musical preferences have evolved to the point where I would like something they would have to offer.

I have found that by doing this I have found new respect for an artist I may have overlooked before.

Here are some examples-

Relient K-

during the time period that their first three cds came out I absolutely HATED pop/punk so I thought their cd's sucked. I still gave their 4th cd a chance though and found that I LOVED IT! I now own all of Relient K's cds and have found almost all of their music to be enjoyable.

Hawk Nelson-

Lets be honest. Their first cd pretty much sucked, some of the tunes were catchy but the songwriting was completely unoriginal and the production was horrible. But they definitely redeemed themselves on their sophomore release, I can't think of a single song I don't like.

Project 86-

They are known as one of those bands that trys to switch things up from album to album. I think if ANYONE just listened to a single cd from them they would probably be missing out. My sister owns almost all of their previous cds (pre Rival Factions) and she loves them. I personally don't like them. But I DO love rival factions, their sound matured to the point where I liked it and if I had just decided beforehand that I didn't like project86 so I wasn't gonna listen to it I would be missing out on one of my new favourite cds!

I guess I feel Tom Dincht is telling me that he knows ABSOLUTELY nothing about thousand foot krutch and he is unwilling to try and find out about them becuz he has already made up his mind based on only 1/4 of their music. Not only that but that 1/4 of their music is by no means a representation of their style and says nothing of their musical growth.

Of course I can understand why someone would dislike thousand foot krutch. Actually if they weren't so INSANELY catchy I doubt I would listen to them. Here is why-

1. their lyrics.... yeah I hate alot of their lyrics. They just sound so dumb...I mean some of the songs have good lyrics like "Phenomnon" "puppet" or "hurt"

But lyrics like

"We come crashing through your speakers into your ear canal like the alignment of the solar system, does this remind you of the day when we just wanted to rawk cuz we like it that way"

Aren't impressive >.>

2. They are repetitive. Alot of their songs sound the same. Especially on Phenomenon. I think they did better on The Art of Breaking but songs like "move" and "absolute" were definitely in their same vein. I'm hoping they will spread out more on The Flame in All of Us.

3. Trevor Mcnan's voice. I actually like his voice but it could be better and I definitely can understand why a lot of people find it annoying.


Good reasons to dislike them are not becuz they are "whiny" or "rapcore" because... Well neither of them are true!

I was referring to Set it Off and "Rawkfist" specifically.

I don't mind any of the new stuff on their PV page right know or anything on The Art of Breaking.

It's just something I would find worth buying.

If I hear a band and hate it you know what the first thing I do is?
I see if their older stuff is better.
I did that with AFI and now I've even learned to love some of their newer stuff.

I don't have many good things to say about myself, but I am not closeminded when it comes to music and I give many things a fair chance as I gave TFK right now and they're not that bad.

I know a lot about TFK.

I will admit I have made negative comments about a band and went back and liked them.

I have learned to give a lot of bands chances.

My feelings arn't hurt at all, I find it funny. Rawkfist is one of my fav songs by the way. That and Quicken. <_< Fun!
I just like it when they have a more more rap than rock blend. Ya' know? 60-40.

Anyways, I have no qualms with the way they're going with this new CD. It seems like they know where they want to go musically now. The Art of Breaking was kind of.....lackluster to me. Looking back, it seems like a step towards this new batch of tracks.

Personally, it's on my top-5 cds right now, simply because I can relate to every song and I like every song (Which doesn't happen too much these days)

I liked The Art of Breaking for the most part, but this new CD is pretty good. Their lyrics are much, much better now... as for style of music, I could care less, I like all "styles"... if I want to blast my ears out I will listen to Becoming the Archetype, but sometimes I like to tone it down some... something I find important about music is the lyrics rather then what genre it is... and TFK seems to have improved lots.
