Does anyone know anything about this? It's a trailer for a film called La Quête de l'oiseau du temps which is based on a comic of the same name. Anyways, the trailer is here; it looks interesting.

The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Do we know if that is the style for the entire movie? If so, I'm immensely curious to learn why it is a mix of 2/3-D art as well as color and monochrome. Also, can anyone provide a translation for the various pieces of text?

I'm pretty sure that the trailer shows a of sketches/early CG models that will be cleaned up a lot in the final release. In other words, you're seeing a mix of finished and unfinished work.

That is certainly what it looked like, but I wanted to make sure because I am unused to seeing trailers of that type.

Some further information regarding the source comic is available on Wikipedia, though online translators (such as Google's tool, which I used) will invariably butcher the page:

Franco-Belgian from what I was able to find.
