The Blueprint Dives has some good songs, but overall, it's pretty weak compared to Synergy and stuff like that.

Yeah, you're right.

Now that I've listened to it...at first, I was pretty disappointed in the shift to Deftones-like vocals, but now that I've listened to it a few times through, it's pretty good. Not Synergy good, but it's good.
It's pretty obvious to me-- live action Yuki would be played by Michael Jackson.

Oh, yes! Glad more people actually HAVE one of their CD's. XD

I like Synergy too, though I fell in love with the band with the Undeceived album. The song "Ember" is a personal favorite of mine from that album.

And I am with you, dude, Blueprint isnt as good as most of their other CD's. I got burned on that CD just like The Showdown's newest CD. I was expecting mind-melting death metal, not old school-ish Southern Metal. >.< But as with most CD's that initially disappoint compared to the bands 1st CD, further listening often proves that they do know what they were doing, but you just didnt expect it. XD

So, guys, any recent Metal CD's (other than BtA: The Physics of Fire) that are any good?

ALSO, could you guys hook my up with some online CD Stores that only sell Christian CD's?

Thanks

Thank you VERY much for the link! I had been to this site once before, and this was actually the one site I was trying to find the link to again. Again, thanks. XD

I didnt know that August Burns Red's CD was coming out any time soon, sweet! And why have I never heard of Besieged?!? They rock!

Oh, and I now feel obligated to link to an odd band in every post, so here XD

Virgin Black

They are releasing a 3 part CD Trilogy, one that is Orchestral, one that is more Death/Goth Metal, and one that is a combination of the two.

I've heard of him. I like him alot.

I have gotten into the band Elis as of late. Elis

They run in the same vein as Leaves' Eyes and Theatre of Tragedy. I have only listened to thier music on thier myspace but I am trying to get ahold of thier other material. As well, I found out this was the band whoose lead singer died last year. I read that on thier record label (Napalm which is my favorite music label) that thier lead singer died of a brain hemmorage (spelling notwithstanding) suddnely. Thier new music sounds pretty good though.

Oh yeah and Summoning for teh win!

Here are some death metal bands that have released really awesome cds this year so far:

Disavowed
Kronos
Beneath the Massacre
Odious Mortem

(btw, they don't have any sort of objectionable lyrics)

Good finds.

BTW, Eric, do you like Job For a Cowboy?

Have you ever heard "Between the Buried and Me"?
I just heard two of their songs off Alaska and now I'm extremely tempted to buy it.

I would have to disagree about BTM being clean. Their new cd might be ok, but their EP has some questionable lyrics, at least, such as in the song "Comforting Prejudice".

I will definitely have to check out those other bands. I have listened to Disavowed, and I found them to be pretty good.
After that, I'll have to check out Elis, as I listen to way too much death metal, and could use a little variety.

And Tom, I have heard some of BTBAM, and I thought it was good. You can read some reviews here

>.> There is one thing that I know about Between the Buried and Me, and that is that their ex-guitarist is now in the Christian Metal band Oh, Sleeper. His name was Shane Blay.

Here is their myspace page!

Actually, this post is a two-fer! Check out Adiastasia, and their awsome song Father of Light. Christian Power at its best!

Is Synergy a stronger album than Burial or Undeceived?
Burial is like progressive black metal, but isn't Synergy thrashy like Believer or old Living Sacrifice?

Yes, Synergy is thrash. It has a few good songs, but it's not nearly as solid as their earlier cds.

I'm gonna buck the trend here and say that-- disincluding how the albums will grow on me from here on out-- I've decided I actually like Blueprint the best, with Synergy close behind, and Undeceived in third. All albums are pretty darned fantastic in their own right. I suppose that, when it comes down to it, I'm just not an extreme metal kind of guy for the most part. Blueprint pretty much blows me away, though.

I picked up the new The Number Twelve Looks Like You album yesterday, and War Is Hell Redux by The Warriors. Number 12 is some really um...experimental metal/grindcore-something-or-other. I love it. It's not clean, though, so be wary.

The Warriors are clean, as far as I can tell. They have some political stuff. They are totally rad.
